Chapter 392 Have One

Before Shen Heng could finish speaking, Bai Jiaojiao hugged him.

"Brother Heng..."

"Okay, okay." Shen Heng said nothing more, picked up Bai Jiaojiao and comforted her, patted her back, touched her little face, and looked down to see Bai Jiaojiao pouting and crying.

"Look at you, you don't even trust me as much as Feng Lin does. Think about it, am I the kind of person who acts without considering the consequences?"

Shen Heng is bold yet meticulous, arrogant yet knows when to stop, and would never let himself get involved in any messy things for no reason.

"No," Bai Jiaojiao sniffed, her clear eyes still moist, "I heard from Shunzi that you met Yu Wenli. What exactly happened?"

She was so concerned that she lost her composure, and her mind was in a mess the whole way, leaving her no time to consider the truth of the matter.

"It's quite a coincidence."

Shen Heng began telling Bai Jiaojiao the story of Wang Fushun seeing Li Xiulian in the train station restroom.

"Is Yu Wenli really dead?"

"It's true. But it has nothing to do with me. That kid is incredibly wicked; it was only a matter of time before he got into trouble."

Bai Jiaojiao had long forgotten about Yu Wenli, thinking that they would never cross paths again. Who knew that he would run into Shen Heng in Zhuzhou?

"Has the murderer been found?" Bai Jiaojiao asked.

Shen Heng took out the snacks he had just bought and placed them in front of Bai Jiaojiao: "I guess they don't have them yet. Their efficiency is incredibly slow. It took them a whole day to check my alibi. If you're interested in this, you can stay here for a couple of days and wait. Have some of this to tide you over, and I'll go to the restaurant to buy you some food. The food at this guesthouse isn't very good."

"No need, this is fine with me." Bai Jiaojiao took a pastry.

"That's fine. After you finish eating, go to sleep. When you wake up, I'll take you to a restaurant for dinner. I'll go wash some fruit for you."

Bai Jiaojiao ate a couple of bites of the pastry, but her mouth was dry and she had no appetite. However, she was very tired, so she put the half-eaten pastry back on the table and wanted to lie down and rest.

When Shen Heng returned from washing the fruit, he saw Bai Jiaojiao lying on the bed, half asleep.

"Tired?"

"Hmm, let's eat after I wake up, Heng-ge, I'm so sleepy."

As she spoke, she shifted to a more comfortable lying position.

Shen Heng peeled a banana for Bai Jiaojiao and placed it directly on the bed: "Won't you have a couple of bites first?"

Bai Jiaojiao didn't sleep all night in the car but wasn't sleepy. Now that she's relaxed, she's so sleepy she can barely keep her eyes open.

"Can't you just open your mouth like this? I'll feed you."

"No." Bai Jiaojiao pushed the banana that Shen Heng offered aside.

"Okay then, I'll sleep with you."

Shen Heng ate the banana in a few bites, then got into bed and hugged Bai Jiaojiao, the whole sequence of movements was very smooth.

"We'll get up for dinner later..." Bai Jiaojiao said, then rested her head on Chen Heng's shoulder and lost consciousness in his arms.

Shen Heng lowered his head and kissed the top of Bai Jiaojiao's head. Bai Jiaojiao's hands tightly hugged his waist, and she leaned softly against him, looking like she was sleeping very peacefully.

Although it was a bit perverted, Shen Heng had to admit that he really enjoyed Bai Jiaojiao's behavior of traveling a long way for him.

Now, watching Bai Jiaojiao fall into a deep sleep in his arms, Shen Heng was afraid that he would become addicted to this feeling of being worried about and relied upon, and that he would deliberately try to attract Bai Jiaojiao's attention in the future.

This is not a good habit.

Bai Jiaojiao fell asleep before midnight and slept until six o'clock, but still showed no signs of getting up.

Shen Heng quietly got up and went outside, where he saw Yang Fenglin sitting at the entrance of the guesthouse smoking.

"Want one, brother-in-law?"

"Need not."

"Where's my sister? Is she still sleeping? Brother-in-law, I'm starving! I went out for a walk just now, but I was afraid of getting lost, so I came back after a short while. But this place is really different; there are so many more things here than in Yancheng. When I asked my dad, he said it was just a small fishing village."
