Chapter 83 Bai Shibao Returns Home

Bai Shibao scratched his head: "Dad, when did the family buy you a wheelchair?"

He casually spun Bai Zhiman, who had just managed to spin himself out of the way, and pushed him back in: "Brother, sister, what are you doing standing there? Waiting for me?"

Bai Shibao smiled sheepishly, thinking to himself that home is still the best.

Bai Shihai frowned, while Bai Shiqing rolled her eyes in disgust: "Come on, little sister, let's go to the kitchen."

Bai Jiaojiao smiled at Bai Shibao and followed Bai Shiqing into the kitchen, just as they heard Bai Zhiman shouting outside, "You've come back just to annoy your father!"

Then, a commotion erupted, and Bai Shibao rushed into the hall: "Dad, I've brought you some good food!"

Bai Shibao worked as an apprentice in town and only came back every few months. He didn't know anything about the situation at home. Even though Bai Zhiman was angry, he was just looking for something new, so he only cursed a couple of times and that was it.

"Push me outside for a walk!"

Bai Shibao handed the oil paper package to Bai Shihai: "Brother, this is a pig's head I bought in town. Ask your wife to cut it up so it can go well with your drinks."

"Okay, be careful pushing it. The roads in our village are not easy to walk on. Jiaojiao just brought this wheelchair home today, so don't break it."

Bai Zhiman also disliked Bai Shihai: "You're afraid the chair will break, but not your old man will fall and die, huh?"

Bai Shihai scratched his head: "That's not what I meant, Dad."

"Bai Jiaojiao brought it back?" Bai Shibao stared wide-eyed at the pair of eyes that were so similar to Bai Jiaojiao's.

"Yes, my little sister knows how to be filial now, which is better than all of us."

Bai Shibo remained skeptical of Bai Shihai's words and pushed Bai Zhiman out the door.

Bai Zhiman was depressed at home every day. He had lost all his flesh and become a withered old man. Bai Shibao had been a blacksmith apprentice for three years, and he could easily push Bai Zhiman with ease.

Bai Zhiman experienced his incredible agility once again, and the villagers were amazed when they saw him: "Hey, Uncle Man, out for a stroll!"

"Let my son push me out for a walk," Bai Zhiman said, trying to appear natural.

The man immediately asked, "When did you buy this wheelchair, and how much did it cost?"

"My little girl brought it, I don't even know how much it cost. Sigh, why did she spend that money! My eldest daughter even got me a cushion. Oh dear, I really don't know if I'm as precious as this chair."

Bai Zhiman was showing off his two daughters and his new chair, while Bai Shibao, who wasn't good with words, just chuckled to himself.

The obedient person also knew how to handle things, and continued Bai Zhiman's words, "Yes, yes, daughters are like warm cotton-padded jackets. Everyone in our village says you are lucky to have raised two good daughters."

Bai Zhiman boasted about it all the way, and the whole village knew that Bai Jiaojiao had bought her father a wheelchair.

Bai Shibao thought to himself that his father was really trying to draw attention to himself: "Dad, let's go back. My sister-in-law should have almost finished cooking."

"Okay, let's go back."

Bai Zhiman glanced longingly at the small village that was about to fall into night, then took a breath of fresh air. He felt as if he had been reborn.

On the way back, I happened to run into Li Shuxian.

When Bai Shibao was a child, he used to pee and play in the mud with Li Shuxian. When he saw Li Shuxian, he greeted him: "Brother Shuxian".

"Sigh," Li Shuxian was still upset about Bai Shiqing, but Bai Shibo is Bai Shibo, "Why are you back?"

"It's my dad's birthday today, so I've taken the day off."

"Oh dear, it's Uncle Man's birthday today, I didn't even know."

"Would you like to come over for a meal?" Bai Shibao asked politely.

"No, no, you rarely come back. You should all have a good family reunion. Why would I want to interrupt?"

Li Shuxian said a few auspicious words to Bai Zhiman, then turned and left.

"Dad, why don't you say a word to him?" Bai Shibao felt that this was not Bai Zhiman's style.

Bai Zhiman sneered, "This kid is unlucky; he married a woman from Huangjiazhuang."

"Huh?" What's there to be angry about?

"Your elder brother and sister-in-law originally wanted to marry Shiqing to him."

Bai Shibao was both amused and exasperated. These things couldn't be forced. It was normal that the other person didn't like his second sister, so why was he holding a grudge?

“No,” Bai Shibao suddenly realized, “Why would I tell him? My sister and Zhu Shengping are getting along well, aren’t they?”

Bai Zhiman got even angrier when this was mentioned: "Go back and ask your older brother!"

At the dinner table, Bai Shihai gave Bai Shibo a little lesson, telling him about Zhu Shengping's situation.

Bai Shibao slammed his wine glass on the table with a "bang": "He dares to hit my sister, I'll fucking take care of him until he dies!"

He was about to leave when Bai Shiqing stopped him: "Alright, my brother almost broke his neck. If it weren't for the brigade leader, the Zhu family would probably never let us off the hook. Anyway, we're even now, so let's not bother with this shit anymore."

Bai Shibao sat back down with a grim expression: "This family has no conscience; they just want to mess with you."

Shen Heng was known to be a man of few words in the Bai family, and he pursed his lips at Bai Jiaojiao.

Bai Jiaojiao gave her a questioning look.

'What's the matter? '

'Your family members have even worse tempers than me.'

Shen Heng felt that this was a bit unfair; why did everyone in the village call him a village bully?

This family is always shouting and threatening to kill each other.

His father-in-law is the village tyrant, no, he's the father of all the village tyrants!

Bai Jiaojiao understood the mockery in Shen Heng's eyes, glared at him, and told him to stop drawing attention here.

Because Bai Zhiman was celebrating his birthday, Deng Min made noodles. Her skills were superb; the noodles were distinct, of uniform thickness, and kneaded to be very chewy, making them very delicious.

There are three young men in the family, and Shen Heng is as capable as two of them. Deng Min didn't even finish making enough noodles the first time, so she went downstairs and steamed a few more cornbread buns.

Bai Zhiman habitually thought of two sarcastic remarks about Shen Heng's appetite. Was he planning to eat his father-in-law out of house and home?

But out of the corner of his eye, he noticed the wheelchair placed in front of the kang (a heated brick bed).

Never mind, let the child eat it.

"Don't spend money so extravagantly next time. Whether you buy this or not is not important. The main thing is to live your own lives well. I, this old man, will not be a burden to you." Bai Zhiman's words changed to this.

“What’s the use of buying all this?” Shen Heng was not one to know how to phrase things.

"you......"

Bai Zhiman was speechless after hearing Shen Heng say, "Jiaojiao is just being filial, so just accept it."

Bai Zhiman felt a little relieved after hearing this, and then said to Bai Jiaojiao, "Dad knows, but it's not easy for Shen Heng to earn money on his own. You can't spend it recklessly, you know? When we have children in the future, there will be many more places to spend money, so you should be more frugal in the future."

Bai Zhi knew Bai Jiaojiao's ways very well. Everyone only knew that Shen Heng was the only one in the family who went out to work, but they didn't know that Bai Jiaojiao was the main breadwinner in the family.

However, Bai Jiaojiao couldn't say it outright right now: "I understand, Father."
