"This mountain doesn't look very high, so why is it so difficult to climb?"
Manzhu was the first to express her dissatisfaction. She had practiced martial arts since she was a child and considered herself to have pretty good physical strength, but now she was exhausted.
After searching around and finding no trace of Xiuya, they panicked, "Oh no, Xiuya is gone."
Only then did everyone realize that Xiuya, who had been falling behind, had completely disappeared.
From the very beginning of their climb, Xiuya was lagging behind, so no one paid much attention to it and told her to take it at her own pace and not to rush, as they would wait for her at the summit.
But after waiting for so long, no one showed up, and everyone felt something was wrong.
"Brother, go back and look for it. I'll lead the others and slowly climb up first," Hongxi suggested.
Hongyu frowned. "It's not a good idea for me to go alone. Why don't you go with Wenxi?"
Men and women shouldn't touch each other; it would be bad if something were to get out.
Hongxi shook his head, "Wenxi went with you, but what about Qingqing and Sister Manzhu'er? Do you expect me to take them with me?"
Wenxi originally wanted to go with Hongyu, but she knew her clever younger brother well and knew that he must have a reason for saying that.
Sure enough, Wenxi nodded after hearing this, "Hongxi is right. You are the eldest prince, it's normal for you to go and take a look. In terms of age, she should still call you brother."
Having been left with no way out, Hongyu had no choice but to turn back with his servant.
Once she was sure the other person was out of sight, Wenxi stepped forward and poked Hongxi's forehead. "You brat, what are you up to now?"
Hongxi chuckled, "I didn't do anything, I just asked my older brother to check on Xiuya."
Wenxi pouted, "Don't think I don't know you; you're definitely up to no good."
Hongxi whispered a few words in Wenxi's ear, and a glint immediately flashed in the other's eyes.
"really?"
Hongxi nodded. "Of course it's true. Last night around the campfire, I saw with my own eyes that my brother's eyes were shining as he looked at Xiuya."
Xiuya is Wenxi's sister, so her character is beyond reproach. If she and her brother were to become a good match, that would be wonderful.
"Okay, I'll trust you this once."
Manzhuer and Qingqing were both in excellent physical condition and had already started the race to climb higher, so they didn't even realize that the siblings had fallen behind.
Hongyu, on the other hand, looked at the girl on the tree trunk with a complicated expression.
When I saw her yesterday, she was clearly a delicate noblewoman. How come she's climbing a tree in the blink of an eye now?
When Xiuya saw Hongyu looking at her with a puzzled expression, her face was already flushed with embarrassment. At this moment, she only regretted that she had fallen behind earlier, otherwise she would never have been so scared that she climbed the tree.
“Herseri, you…” Hongyu struggled to find the right words.
Xiuya was on the verge of tears, but she was already at her limit and had to find a way to get down.
"Your Highness, can you find someone to help me? I can't hold on any longer."
Hongyu looked around. "Where are your maids?"
"She went back to look for someone, and hasn't come back yet."
Hongyu wanted to ask what had happened, but seeing Xiuya's increasingly pale face, he decided that saving people was the priority.
But how can he save them?
You can't exactly carry the person down yourself, can you?
But I can't carry it myself, and I certainly can't ask the guards to carry it.
Xiuya was so anxious that tears welled up in her eyes, and her legs were trembling.
After thinking it over, Hongyu decided that it was more reliable to carry him down himself.
“Mrs. Hesheli, right now there is no one more suitable than me to carry you down. But I will never mention today’s events to a third person. After carrying you down, I will leave first, and I will never tarnish the princess’s reputation.”
Xiuya nodded repeatedly.
Hongyu then kicked the tree trunk, using the momentum to leap up the tree, and then picked up Xiuya with one hand and jumped down.
Almost at the same moment he jumped down, Hongyu released his grip, then took a few steps back, widening the distance between them.
"Is the princess injured? Can she walk on her own?"
Xiuya took a few steps and nodded. "Thank you for saving me, First Prince. I'm a little frightened, so I'll go back to rest first. Please tell Princess Wenxi that I'll be waiting for her to return at the Imperial Estate."
Hongyu nodded and watched Xiuya leave before heading towards the mountaintop.
Hongxi, who had already reached the top of the mountain, was stunned when he saw Hongyu striding towards him. He looked at him and then at the person behind him.
"Big brother, where is he?"
Hongyu looked completely bewildered.
Wenxi looked around, "Where's Xiuya?"
Hongyu then explained, "She said she wasn't feeling well and went home to rest, so she asked me to let you know."
Wenxi gave Hongxi a cold look, as if to say, "Look at the terrible idea you came up with, it's completely useless."
Hongxi was also somewhat ashamed.
He had long guessed that with Xiuya's physique, she would definitely fall behind after a short time if she participated in activities like mountain climbing, so he had Zhang Quan make arrangements in advance.
The so-called safety measure involved capturing two extremely strong white geese. Once Xiuya was alone, releasing the geese would inevitably cause them to chase after her. The sudden appearance of Hongyu in this situation was destined to create a classic hero-saves-the-damsel scenario.
However, things don't seem quite right right now.
"She was perfectly fine when she went out this morning, how come she felt unwell after only a few steps?" Hongxi asked tentatively. Could it be that the two big white geese didn't attack her?
Zhang Quan is a complete waste; he can't even handle this small matter.
Hongyu said seriously, "How would I know that clearly? I just happened to see her walking back when I went to look for her, so I asked her a couple of questions."
