Yinreng felt that his son was too much of a worrywart.
I'm not going to pay any attention to him anymore.
"I heard that your father did a great job in Suzhou. He and his men not only brought the disaster under control, but also did an excellent job in the aftermath. I am very satisfied and will reward them handsomely when they return."
When Ama's job was mentioned, Guarjia's face showed a look of satisfaction.
Shi Wenbing recently wrote to her, mostly about the disaster relief situation in Suzhou. Looking at the contents of the letter, she could feel her father's confidence.
Now that he has received such praise from His Highness the Crown Prince, Father will surely reap great rewards upon his return.
March arrived in the blink of an eye, and Kangxi and his entourage began making arrangements for their return to the capital.
After his feigned illness was discovered, the princes' attitudes toward him became noticeably more indifferent.
Yinqi was the most obvious example; unless Kangxi summoned him to speak, he would never be seen.
"That brat, I wonder where he's gone all day long," Kangxi grumbled in his tent.
Liang Jiugong stood silently to the side, not daring to make a sound.
"Are you mute? Why aren't you saying anything? You're usually so good at cracking jokes."
Liang Jiugong immediately knelt down and said in a panic, "Your Majesty, please understand. The princes all seem very busy, so this servant dared not speak recklessly."
Kangxi waved his hand impatiently, not because he was busy, but because he was clearly angry with him.
Originally, I wanted to use this opportunity to feign illness to test their intentions, but they had no bad intentions. They were all either friendly brothers or thinking about how to clean up the mess for everyone, even if it meant sacrificing themselves.
Originally, I was relieved and planned to wake up slowly that night and surprise everyone. But unexpectedly… Bao Cheng arrived, and instead of surprise, I was filled with anger.
Fortunately, these brats dared not speak out against him, so they took turns challenging him.
Not only Yinti, but even the usually obedient Yinzhi and Yinzhen are nowhere to be seen when there's nothing going on. As for that rascal Yin'e... he's rarely seen since the marriage was arranged for him.
Alas, it's true what they say, once a son grows up, he's gone.
"Go and find out where the boss is now."
Liang Jiugong responded and rushed out, returning a moment later with a gleeful grin.
"Your Majesty, this servant has learned that Prince Zhi is currently on the small hill."
The small hill was not far from their camp; it was more of a mound than a hill.
After a moment of silence, Kangxi finally got up and walked outside, saying arrogantly, "I think the weather outside is nice, let's go for a stroll."
A smile immediately appeared on Liang Jiugong's face.
Led by Liang Jiugong, Kangxi quickly found the small hill and saw Yinti lying on the ground with a blade of grass in his mouth as soon as he got close to it.
Emperor Kangxi frowned. He was, after all, the eldest prince of the Qing Dynasty, a prince of the highest rank. How could he be so unrefined?
He walked over and raised his foot to kick, but then, remembering the purpose of his visit, he silently withdrew his foot.
Yinti coughed lightly, opened his eyes, and was startled when he saw Kangxi's dignified face with a hint of awkwardness.
"Father Emperor." Yinti stood up and spat out the weeds in his mouth.
Kangxi gave him a disdainful look. "Don't you even know your place? What's the point of lying here? If the Mongol tribes saw you like this, who knows what they'd say?"
Yinti pursed his lips, "If you see him, just say that I'm sick and need to lie down for a while."
Kangxi acted faster than he thought, and kicked out with his foot.
Yinti instinctively wanted to dodge, but reason prevailed over action, and he obediently took the kick.
Emperor Kangxi was furious. "I am your father, how dare you speak to me like that?"
Yinti remained silent.
Emperor Kangxi was annoyed by his awkward manner. He had originally intended to express his apology in a tactful way, but seeing his nonchalant attitude only made him feel worse.
With a flick of his sleeve, Kangxi turned around and roared at Liang Jiugong, "Look at the lousy road you've led! Go back now!"
Yinzhen and Yinzhi, watching Kangxi leave from a short distance away, shook their heads helplessly.
Yin Zhi clicked his tongue twice, "Why is the boss's mouth so rude?"
Yinzhen, with a long face and a blank expression, echoed, "He also has a habit of using his hands."
Yin Zhi glanced at him speechlessly, flicked his sleeves, and left as well.
Kangxi and his entourage sped up their return to the capital. It was springtime, and Hongyu and Wenxi rode their ponies along the way, having a wonderful time.
Children can't hold too many emotions in their hearts. After learning that Kangxi had woken up, he was overjoyed and couldn't understand why his uncles and elders always had such stern faces.
"Brother, how much longer until we reach the capital?" Wenxi, dressed in a striking red riding outfit, looked charming and eye-catching.
Hongyu recalled what his father had told him and calculated the time. "It will probably be another half month. By the time we return to the palace, it will be spring."
Wenxi misses her younger brother and wonders how he is doing.
"What's wrong? Are you missing your father and mother?"
Wenxi was taken aback. Could she say that she missed her younger brother?
"Uh, yes... I miss my father and mother."
Hongyu had an "I knew it" look on his face. "I miss my mother too. Her health has never been very good. I wonder how she is now."
The two children were each preoccupied with the person they missed, and the joyful atmosphere vanished instantly.
As the journey continued, everyone noticed the change in the two children's emotions. Kangxi took them into his carriage and, after learning the reason, could only sigh that they were both pure and kind children.
