Outside the Su family's gate.
"Su Feng, I have something I want to tell you."
Ling Xiaohe glanced at Su Feng before speaking hesitantly.
Su Feng: "Go ahead."
He had a bad feeling about what was going on.
"So I'll really tell you?!"
"Speak."
Su Feng had a bad feeling; usually, someone who hesitates and stammers is up to no good.
Ling Xiaohe glanced at the Su family's gate. Apart from the two of them, everyone else inside was having a barbecue in the yard.

Su Feng waited until the barbecue was over and his mother went back inside before he went to knock on the door.

Su Huaiyuan and Qiao Qianru exchanged puzzled glances, neither of them able to figure it out.
“It’s Ling Xiaohe. He told me last night that he fell in love with our little sister at first sight. Before he left, he wanted me to ask our little sister if she would consider him. He wants to be her boyfriend.”
Su Feng told his mother everything Ling Xiaohe had said, and also told her what he knew about Ling Xiaohe's family situation.

Qiao Qiru quite likes Ling Xiaohe, and it would be great if he became her son-in-law.
"As long as he treats Huazhu well, and as long as Huazhu is willing, we will of course agree."
Old Master Su Huaiyuan only asked that his future son-in-law treat his daughter well; everything else was secondary.
"Ling Xiaohe is a good person. He is very principled, not the rigid type, and very generous. He has never settled down, partly because of his career, and partly because he hasn't met someone he likes and is attracted to."
When Su Feng was at the border, he heard about Ling Xiaohe. Many female doctors, nurses and comrades from the cultural troupe wanted to pursue him, but he had no such intentions and rejected them all.
"Okay, I'll go ask Huazhu now. If she's willing, then let them spend more time together. If she really has no interest, then let's just forget about it."
Qiao Qianru thought about it and felt that Ling Xiaohe was really a good person and had good qualities. She didn't want to miss out on such a son-in-law, nor did she want her daughter to miss out on such a good person.
