Chapter 309 Jinling, Haunted House

"There's something I need to take care of!" Chen Tiansheng said.

"Whom do you want to destroy?" Shi Jing asked.

"This time, we're not going to kill anyone."

"But we need to get a few things back," Chen Tiansheng said.

"What is it?" Liu Xue asked.

"The stone box I brought back from northern Myanmar last time!"

“And two of my father’s belongings!” Chen Tiansheng said.

"You lost the stone box?" Liu Xue asked.

"Mm." Chen Tiansheng nodded.

"We've come to you because we want our senior sister to take a look at the stone box!"

"I never expected it to be lost!" Liu Xue shook her head.

"Did you rest well last night?" Chen Tiansheng asked, looking at Nangong Rou.

"It's very quiet, the environment is nice, and I slept very soundly." Nangong Rou nodded.

"And you?" Chen Tiansheng asked Liu Xue.

"I slept quite well too."

"However, I'm feeling a bit down right now!" Liu Xue said.

"I didn't expect this either!" Chen Tiansheng shook his head.

"Let Shijing show you around!"

"Take a break and relax."

“I’ll be back soon!” he said.

"Why don't we go with you?"

"I'm very interested in that stone box!"

"Waiting here like this will drive you crazy with anxiety."

“Even if you try to relax, it won’t help,” Nangong Rou said.

"Senior Sister is right, rather than just waiting."

"We might as well go together."

"Besides, I'm your bodyguard. How can you leave me out!"

“Although it’s not murder, it’s always good to have someone around,” Shi Jing said.

“I’ll go too,” Liu Xue said.

“Okay, let’s go together!” Chen Tiansheng nodded.

Immediately, the four of them entered the elevator and headed downstairs.

A dozen minutes later, a luxury helicopter took off, plunged into the sky, and disappeared.

A day later, it landed on a temporary tarmac outside Jingling City, specifically set up for out-of-town passengers.

The cabin door opened, and Chen Tiansheng and the others got out one after another. They hailed a taxi, got in, gave the driver their address, and the driver stepped on the gas and drove away.

The roads leading into the city were completely cordoned off. Looking out the window at the rows of heavily armed police officers, Chen Tiansheng asked the driver.

"What happened here?"

Why is martial law being declared?

"Look at it like this."

"The level is extremely high!"

"Are you from out of town, sir?" the driver asked.

"Mm." Chen Tiansheng nodded.

"No wonder I didn't know!" the driver said. "Three months ago, four families were wiped out in Jingling!"

"The Wang family, the Ma family, the Chen family, and the Zhao family were all wiped out overnight!"

"The person who wiped out the entire family was extremely cruel, sparing not even animals like chickens and dogs."

"Kill them all!"

"Wang Ma Chen Zhao is the richest man in Jingling!"

"The taxes paid each year account for half of Nanjing's fiscal revenue."

"Their annihilation was a huge blow to Nanjing."

"In a fit of rage, the mayor ordered the Nanjing police to solve the case as quickly as possible!"

"Bring the murderer to justice!"

"After that, the police imposed a citywide lockdown, prohibiting anyone from leaving their home!"

"Search from house to house."

"But we gained nothing!"

"The killer vanished like thin air!"

"They've expanded the area under martial law!"

"Deploy checkpoints at all intersections outside the city!"

"Strictly inspect vehicles entering and exiting!"

"Hopefully, this will be fruitful!"

"But there's still no breakthrough!" The driver shook his head as he said this.

"This case will remain unsolved until it is solved!"

"The police will not lift the curfew for a single day!"

"We've lost nearly half the number of tourists visiting Jingling now!"

"Our income has been nearly halved!"

"We can't get many customers every day."

"If this continues, we'll have to find another way to make a living!"

Chen Tiansheng nodded, "It certainly has a significant impact!"

"Just looking at this line of cars ruins my mood!"

"What's the point of talking about tourism!"

"yes."

"But what can we do!"

"We can only wait until the case is solved!" the driver shook his head.

"It must have been difficult for Director Lin."

"He has only been in office for a short time."

“And then I encountered such a tricky case,” he added.

"Director Lin!"

"Is it Lin Xianyu?" Chen Tiansheng asked.

"yes."

"Do you know her, sir?" the driver asked.

"I don't know him," Chen Tiansheng shook his head.

"I've only heard about it!"

"Oh!" The driver nodded, then stopped talking and focused on driving.

After finally reaching the checkpoint, several police officers signaled for us to stop.

The driver pulled the car over to the side and said.

"You may leave now to be questioned."

"It will take a while, please be patient in answering!"

“I’m here, waiting for you,” he said.

"Okay." Chen Tiansheng nodded, opened the door and got out of the car.

Shi Jing and the other two also followed.

"Come with us," a policeman said, pointing to a makeshift hut in the distance.

"Okay." Chen Tiansheng and Shi Jing followed them.

Inside the small room, three policemen sat on stools, questioning several out-of-town visitors.

One of them was even taking notes in a notebook.

After questioning them and finding nothing wrong, they were allowed to leave.

“Sit there, it’s okay, relax,” the police officer leading them said, pointing to a few chairs across the table.

"Okay." Chen Tiansheng and the others walked over and sat down.
