Chapter 111 Checks and Balances

"Why are you in such a hurry? I haven't even had a proper chat with you yet." Han Lin's hand was still on Qi Huan's shoulder, his head was slightly close to Qi Huan's face, and his tone was low and somewhat ambiguous.

"I have nothing to say to you." Qi Huan twisted her shoulders violently, trying to shake off Han Lin's hand.

At this moment, Han Lin tightened his grip again, his expression turning ferocious. "You think a manager's position is enough for me? You know what kind of situation you and your family will face if I release this recording? If the heir commits academic misconduct in university and loses even the most basic integrity, then the company will also..."

"Alright, stop talking!" Qi Huan slammed her hand on the table angrily, stood up from her chair, and glared at Han Lin with wide eyes. "Give me a clear answer right now, what else do you want in order to delete this recording?"

"Requirements? Of course there are more." Han Lin's expression relaxed again. "However, I haven't thought about them yet." After saying that, Han Lin chuckled smugly.

"For the rest of my life, I want you to be under my coercion." Han Lin brought his face closer to Qi Huan and said this in a cold tone. After speaking, a cruel smile twitched at the corner of Han Lin's mouth, and he turned to walk back to his seat.

Qi Huan's fists clenched tightly. Suddenly, she caught sight of a dinner knife on the table. A terrifying voice urged her on, and as if possessed, she swiftly grabbed the knife and lunged at Han Lin's back. By the time Han Lin realized Qi Huan's dangerous act, it was too late. However, he still managed to move forward half a step. Qi Huan thrust the knife forcefully into Han Lin's back, but due to misjudging the distance, the blade slashed a large gash across Han Lin's back.

Han Lin screamed, then immediately turned and snatched the knife from Qi Huan's hand, throwing it aside. Han Lin's brows were furrowed, his expression pained. He touched his back and saw that his palm was completely stained with blood. Fortunately, Han Lin's last-minute reaction prevented serious consequences. Although the wound on Han Lin's back was deep, it was only a superficial injury and had not damaged any internal organs.

"You crazy woman!" Han Lin pointed at Qi Huan with his blood-stained finger and cursed. Then he picked up his phone and dialed 110.

In fact, Qi Huan had fully regained her senses the moment she stabbed him. She suddenly realized the foolishness of her actions; it wasn't worth wasting her entire life on someone like Han Lin. Qi Huan saw Han Lin pick up his phone and guessed what he was about to do. She then said coldly, "You want to call the police? Go ahead, but you'd better think carefully about the consequences. You just said you're unemployed, right?"

Upon hearing Qi Huan's words, Han Lin's thumb froze in mid-air, never pressing the call button.

Qi Huan saw Han Lin's hesitation and sneered, "You think such a superficial injury can have much of an impact on me? I'm really stupid. Even if you release that recording, so what? Even if my family is affected by this, a fallen camel is still bigger than a horse. I can still be a wealthy man. Besides, I never intended to take over the family business. And you, you'll gain nothing." As Qi Huan spoke, he walked to Han Lin's side, enjoying the uncertain expression on Han Lin's face.

Qi Huan looked at Han Lin, then moved her face closer to his and said in a low voice, "Is my family important to me? Yes, but not as important as you think. I can agree to your request, but please know when to stop. I've already investigated your family background. If you go too far, then go back to being a penniless person."

Qi Huan was indeed telling the truth. Even though Qi Huan's family had been affected by the academic misconduct, she still had a secure life. And what about Han Lin? For Han Lin, Qi Huan was both a target for blackmail and a powerful ally. Han Lin understood this in an instant.

A smile appeared on Qi Huan's face. Qi Huan slowly moved her face away from Han Lin, then turned and walked towards the front door. "I'll let you know the opening date and all the details of the restaurant. As for the injury on your back, apart from the excessive bleeding, it shouldn't be a big problem. As for how to treat your wound, you're a sensible person; you should know what to do. By the way, my restaurant's name is 'Spicy Restaurant,' Manager Han." With that, Qi Huan turned the doorknob and slammed the door shut.

"This is all the entanglement between me and Han Lin." Qi Huan had already recounted all her past interactions with Han Lin.

"So, Han Lin and you maintained a delicate balance all this time? Until A-Cheng appeared and broke that balance, right?" Wang Shen looked at Qi Huan sitting in front of him and sighed.

Qi Huan nodded and replied, "Yes, Acheng doesn't want to be coerced by him anymore, so he always wants to get that recording back."

Wang Shen nodded, then looked up at Qi Huan. "Mr. Qi, may I ask how you lured Han Lin here? And how did you subdue him?"

"Officer Wang, you're so smart, do I really need to explain this further?" Qi Huan looked at Wang Shen, not understanding why Wang Shen was asking such an obvious question. But Qi Huan still gave the obvious answer: "Han Lin is like a greedy wolf. I only need to throw him a piece of meat to lure him over. Then I'll put some sleeping pills in his drink, and he'll naturally surrender."

Wang Shen pursed his lips and nodded slightly. At this moment, Liang Zichen and Xu Xiaolin helped the injured Han Lin in. Due to waves of pain, Han Lin had now fully regained consciousness. The rope binding Han Lin's hands was still in place, but Liang Zichen had already torn off the bandage from his mouth.

"How badly are his injuries?" Wang Shen asked, glancing at Liang Zichen beside him.

Liang Zichen smiled confidently and said to Wang Shen, "Captain Wang, don't worry. Qi Huan didn't hit hard enough. It's just a superficial wound. I've already treated the wound, so there won't be any problems."

Wang Shen nodded, pointed to an empty chair not far away, and gestured for Han Lin to sit down. Han Lin sat down, took a few breaths, his eyes still filled with anger. Han Lin looked up at Qi Huan and said, "You treat A-Cheng like a treasure, do you know how he got close to you?"

After asking that question, Han Lin suddenly burst into unrestrained laughter. After a while, Han Lin's gaze returned to Qi Huan. "You think A-Cheng is some kind of good person? You're just another piece in his plan."
