Chapter 129 Surveillance

Liang Zichen looked at Wang Shen with a puzzled expression. "Clues? What clues could we possibly have now?" Liang Zichen's tone also revealed a hint of helplessness.

“We can be sure that Han Lin values his son very much. So, even if his son isn’t by Han Lin’s side, Han Lin wouldn’t bear to let him suffer, right?” Wang Shen said, giving Liang Zichen a hint.

Upon hearing Wang Shen's question, Liang Zichen nodded in agreement and said, "Yes, so what?" As soon as Liang Zichen finished speaking, he suddenly felt that something was wrong.

Wang Shen wasn't in a hurry to explain, but instead let Liang Zichen think about it quietly for a while. After a short while, Liang Zichen suddenly snapped his fingers and said, "That's right! Even if the child isn't with Han Lin, Han Lin will definitely provide him with financial support. If he's going to provide financial support, there are usually two ways: cash or bank transfer?"

Wang Shen smiled, nodded again, and then his expression turned serious. "However, of these two methods, I hope Han Lin uses the second one. Otherwise, we'll lose a lot more clues."

"So now we need to check the transfer records of all the bank cards under Han Lin's name to see if there are any regular expenditures. If we find the owner of the account from which the regular transfers are made, we might be able to find Han Lin's child." Liang Zichen followed Wang Shen's words and came to this conclusion.

As Liang Zichen was speaking, there was a sudden knock on the door. Liang Zichen glanced at Wang Shen, slightly wary. Wang Shen simply waved his hand and said, "It should be the colleague I notified who's here to collect fingerprints from the phone."

After saying that, Wang Shen stood up from the sofa, walked to the door, and opened it. Wang Shen's guess was correct; two police officers were standing at the door. They saluted politely upon seeing Wang Shen. "Don't change the position of anything in this room. After collecting your fingerprints, close the door and you can leave," Wang Shen instructed the two officers before leaving the room with Liang Zichen.

"Zichen, I'll take you back to the police station first. You'll be in charge of checking Han Lin's bank accounts; the sooner we get the results, the better." Wang Shen instructed Liang Zichen as he drove away from Han Mo's residential area.

Liang Zichen nodded and asked Wang Shen, "Captain Wang, where are you going?"

"I need to go check out Xiao Lin's studio first. Oh, and when you get to the police station, also urge the people in the testing and archives departments to expedite getting what I need ready." With that, Wang Shen stepped on the gas, and the car sped up.

After dropping Liang Zichen off at the police station, Wang Shen followed the address Xiao Lin had given him to his studio. Xiao Lin's studio wasn't in a prime location; in fact, it was somewhat out of the way. It was situated on a commercial street within a residential complex—basically, a storefront facing the street. Wang Shen stood at the entrance of Xiao Lin's studio. The main door was locked, but one of the windows was still open. Taking two steps back, Wang Shen discovered a security camera at the corner to the left of the studio.

Just then, a man in a security guard uniform walked towards Wang Shen. As the man got closer, Wang Shen noticed a badge on his chest that read "Property Management Company." Wang Shen guessed that this man was a security guard from the property management company for this residential complex.

Wang Shen caught up with the security guard and walked up to him, saying, "Hello, are you a security guard for this community?"

The security guard stopped, looked at Wang Shen with a puzzled expression, and replied, "Yes, what's wrong?"

Wang Shen nodded and continued, "Excuse me, is this surveillance camera under your property management's control?" As he spoke, Wang Shen pointed to the surveillance camera at the left corner.

"Why are you asking this?" The security guard suddenly became alert, looking Wang Shen up and down.

"I'm a police officer, and I need your assistance." Wang Shen took out his police ID from his pocket and held it up in front of the security guard. The security guard looked at the ID closely for a moment, then nodded emphatically.

"The security cameras on this commercial street are all managed by our property management company," the security guard replied.

"I'd like to go to your monitoring room to check that surveillance camera," Wang Shen said, pointing to the camera on the left.

The security guard nodded and led Wang Shen to the property management's monitoring room. On the way, the guard had already explained the situation to his supervisor via walkie-talkie. As Wang Shen followed the guard to the monitoring room door, he saw a man in a suit standing respectfully at the entrance. The man walked up to Wang Shen, warmly shook his hand, and then took a business card from his pocket and handed it to him.

"Hello Officer Wang, I'm the manager of this property management company. My surname is Jin, you can just call me Xiao Jin." The property manager briefly introduced himself to Wang Shen.

Wang Shen also warmly shook hands with the property manager, took the business card from the manager's hand, and said with a smile, "Hello, I have a small matter I would like to trouble you with."

"No problem," the property manager readily agreed.

Seeing that he had nothing more to do, the security guard said goodbye to the property manager and left. The property manager then led Wang Shen into the monitoring room.

"Manager Jin, I'd like to check the CCTV footage from the shops on the left side of the street near the entrance of the residential area." Wang Shen roughly described the location of the CCTV camera.

“Okay, this is surveillance camera number 5 on the commercial street. Our security guard just told me about it.” The property manager answered Wang Shen’s question with a smile while leading him to a monitor.

"Xiao Li, retrieve the footage from surveillance camera number 5." The property manager gently patted the employee sitting in the chair on the shoulder and gave the order with a smile.

"Okay, manager, but what time period would you like to do it?" Employee Xiao Li turned to the property manager and asked.

Upon hearing Xiao Li's question, the property manager didn't know how to answer and could only turn to look at Wang Shen.

Wang Shen recalled what his assistant Xiao Lin had said and said, "The surveillance footage from the morning before yesterday to yesterday afternoon."

Hearing Wang Shen's words, employee Xiao Li nodded and retrieved the video footage from the database. "This is a bit long; it might take a while to watch," Xiao Li said helplessly.

"Could you zoom in on this surveillance footage?" Wang Shen asked, pointing to the screen.

Employee Xiao Li nodded, then zoomed in on the screen.

“Yes, point it at that shop.” Wang Shen pointed to the screen, requesting that the image be moved to the area directly facing Xiao Lin’s studio. “Please turn the playback speed to maximum.”

Following Wang Shen's instructions, employee Xiao Li turned the playback speed to the maximum. Wang Shen saw the time numbers on the screen jumping rapidly, and he stared intently at the monitor.
