Wang Shen picked up the phone number he had just obtained and dialed Xiao Lin's wife's number.
"Hello." The call was answered quickly.
A woman's voice came from the other end of the phone. She seemed to be in a really good mood, and even her tone of voice was cheerful. "Who is this?" she asked.
"Hello, I'm Officer Wang, the officer in charge of your husband's case," Wang Shen stated directly.
After hearing Wang Shen's words, there was a brief silence on the other end of the phone. Then the woman replied, "Oh! I remember now, we've met a few times. Officer Wang, hello, what can I do for you?"
"I still want to ask you about some things concerning Xiao Lin."
"Okay, go ahead and ask," the woman agreed readily.

Upon hearing Wang Shen's question, there was silence on the other end of the phone. This puzzled Wang Shen; he didn't understand what was so difficult to answer.
After a while, Wang Shen still hadn't received a reply from the woman, so he urged her, "Hello."
The woman on the other end of the phone snapped out of her reverie, but much of the cheerfulness in her voice had vanished. Wang Shen could clearly hear her sigh. "Back then, it was when we had just met. He was poor, but I didn't mind. He promised to work hard to give me a better life." The woman seemed lost in fond memories of the past. Although these words weren't helpful to the case, Wang Shen didn't want to interrupt her.
