Wang Shen held Han Mo's autopsy report tightly in his hand. How could he not have noticed such a huge flaw at first? But why did this happen? Where exactly did the problem lie?
Ever since Wang Shen discovered the problems in the autopsy report, these three questions have kept popping into his mind. He kept asking himself these three questions over and over again, and then hypothesizing countless possibilities.
However, what exactly on the autopsy report shocked and puzzled Wang Shen so much? After the Han Mo case, the police certainly wanted to investigate every clue. The autopsy of Han Mo's body was also very thorough.
Initially, Han Mo's case was handled by Wang Shen. After taking over the case, Wang Shen established a special task force and held a case analysis meeting. At the meeting, someone pointed out that Han Mo might have been assaulted. Although the possibility was very small, Wang Shen, adhering to the principle of not overlooking any possibility, still followed everyone's wishes and had the forensic doctor conduct an autopsy on Han Mo's body.
The current autopsy report clearly states the results regarding Han Mo's autopsy: no signs of sexual assault were found. However, this wasn't the information that surprised Wang Shen; what surprised him was the sentence that followed immediately afterward.
The autopsy report confirmed that Han Mo was still a virgin. Through his investigation of the case, Wang Shen had learned about Han Mo's tragic childhood. Because of Han Mo's stepfather, this autopsy result was clearly inconsistent with reality. Furthermore, based on his understanding of the cases of Song Mu and Han Lin, Han Mo had already had relationships with both of them. So, how could this be?
Could there be a problem with the autopsy results? This was the first possibility that came to Wang Shen's mind. However, he quickly shook his head, dismissing the idea. With current technology, errors in this area were impossible. So what was the reason? Could it be that what Wang Shen had previously known was not the truth?
No, Wang Shen couldn't accept this outcome. It was tantamount to overturning all his previous efforts. Fine beads of sweat slowly appeared on Wang Shen's palms. He closed his eyes briefly, trying to compose himself.
Wang Shen recalled the events surrounding Song Mu and Han Lin's cases, then shook his head. The autopsy report wouldn't be wrong, and Song Mu and Han Lin had no reason to lie about such a thing. So, what was the real reason? Wang Shen pressed his temples hard with his fingers, then sat down in his chair.
Wang Shen regained consciousness thanks to Liang Zichen. He had been sleeping on his desk for some time now, perhaps due to the exhaustion of investigating cases lately. Thankfully, Liang Zichen rushed into Wang Shen's office and woke him up.
Wang Shen shook his head and glanced at Liang Zichen in a daze.
"Captain Wang, why are you asleep?" Liang Zichen looked at Wang Shen in surprise, his expression a mixture of excitement and astonishment. Liang Zichen composed himself and continued, "Captain Wang, the fingerprint results are in. You'll never guess what they are."
After hearing Liang Zichen's words, Wang Shen immediately rubbed his eyes a few times and patted his head to clear his head. He stared wide-eyed at Liang Zichen and asked, "What was the result?"
Liang Zichen swallowed hard and said, "There are no fingerprints on that red hard drive. Captain Wang, can you imagine? There aren't any fingerprints at all." Liang Zichen repeated the same thing twice, which showed his surprise and doubt.
"No one's fingerprints?" Wang Shen repeated the same question, looking at Liang Zichen with a puzzled expression. After saying that, Wang Shen fell into deep thought again.
After a while, Liang Zichen couldn't contain his curiosity any longer and looked at Wang Shen, asking, "Captain Wang, what do you think is the reason for this?"
Wang Shen glanced at Liang Zichen, then sighed and asked, "There's only one possible reason why there are no fingerprints on that red hard drive: someone wiped them off. The key question now is, who wiped off these fingerprints? Or to put it another way, who would be capable of wiping off these fingerprints?"
Upon hearing Wang Shen's question, Liang Zichen thought for a moment before answering, "If you ask me, the first person that comes to mind is Lin Su. But the question is, why would Lin Su want to wipe the fingerprints off the hard drive?"
Wang Shen smiled at Liang Zichen and said, "If Lin Su wiped the fingerprints off the hard drive, the reason is simple: he didn't want to leave any evidence that he had used the hard drive. Based on that purpose, I think Lin Su would do more than just wipe the fingerprints off."
Wang Shen paused here, not giving a final answer, but looking at Liang Zichen, waiting for his reply. Liang Zichen glanced at Wang Shen, thought for a moment, and then replied, "If Lin Su wants to completely sever his ties with that red hard drive, then he will completely dispose of it. Because we have already examined its contents; all the novel ideas have already been used by Lin Su. From that perspective, that red hard drive has absolutely no value to Lin Su."
Wang Shen listened and nodded. "You're right, but what will the actual result be?"
"The actual result?" Liang Zichen looked at Wang Shen with a puzzled expression, then understood what Wang Shen meant. "The actual result is that we found this red hard drive in Lin Su's room, which further confirms the deduction that Lin Su is the murderer in the Han Mo case."
“That’s right.” Unexpectedly, Wang Shen slapped the table in front of him as he said this. “Besides, this red hard drive isn’t hard to find. Lin Su knows what it would mean if that red hard drive were exposed. So he would never put it in a place that’s so easy for us to find. From this point of view, wiping off the fingerprints is redundant. Even if Lin Su is stupid, he wouldn’t do something so foolish.”
Liang Zichen carefully considered what Wang Shen had said, then stared at him with wide eyes. "Captain Wang, do you mean that the only possible owners of this red hard drive, besides Lin Su, are Xu Xiaolin?"
Wang Shen did not answer Liang Zichen's question, but simply nodded slightly.
"But what was her purpose in doing this?" Liang Zichen continued to press.
"The purpose? It's simple: to provide us with concrete evidence that Lin Su murdered Han Mo. To make us absolutely certain of Lin Su's identity as the murderer. Therefore, I suspect that the original fingerprints on that red hard drive should have belonged to Xu Xiaolin. She did this because she was worried that we would discover this clue."
Liang Zichen asked with his mouth slightly open, "You mean Xu Xiaolin went to Lin Su's house beforehand?"
"If Lin Su can go to Xu Xiaolin's house, why can't Xu Xiaolin go to Lin Su's house?" Wang Shen retorted.
