Chapter 81 Recklessness or Restraint

After Wang Shen finished speaking, he was silent for a moment, then clapped his hands and said, "By the way, Lao Zheng, I need your help again." Wang Shen turned around and waved to the middle-aged policeman standing not far behind him.

Upon hearing Wang Shen's summons, the middle-aged policeman, carrying a teacup, jogged over to Wang Shen's side. "Captain Wang, what can I do for you?"

"Look at this email address," Wang Shen said, pointing to the address of the recipient of the email that A-Cheng had sent. "Is there any way to find out the owner of this email address?"

The middle-aged policeman stared at the email address for a while, then nodded and replied, "It shouldn't be a big problem. Nowadays, emails are all registered with real names. Give me some time; it won't be long. I should be able to track it down soon."

After the middle-aged policeman finished speaking, Wang Shen consciously stood up from his chair and made room for him. He then saw the policeman sitting at the computer desk, his hands constantly typing on the keyboard. Wang Shen and Liang Zichen couldn't understand this technical task either, so they could only stand aside and watch helplessly.

The middle-aged policeman wasn't exaggerating. After about ten minutes, the sound of his typing suddenly stopped. He clapped his hands, turned to Wang Shen, and smiled. "Captain Wang, mission accomplished." With that, the policeman stood up again and offered the chair to Wang Shen once more.

Upon hearing the middle-aged policeman's words, Wang Shen immediately sat down in a chair, his eyes fixed on the information on the screen. The policeman had already displayed the recipient's information on the computer screen. The name "Qi Huan" caught Wang Shen's eye.

"Captain Wang, this email was indeed sent by Acheng to Qi Huan." Liang Zichen bent down and also saw Qi Huan's message.

“That’s right, Qi Huan should know everything.” After saying that, Wang Shen frowned.

"Everything?" Liang Zichen repeated Wang Shen's words in confusion. "Captain Wang, when you say 'everything,' do you mean things before the accident or things after the accident?"

“Everything,” Wang Shen repeated. “I mean before and after the accident,” Wang Shen added, seeing that Liang Zichen was still in a daze.

“That’s a bit strange.” Liang Zichen shook his head after listening to Wang Shen’s words. “Captain Wang, think about it. It’s normal for Qi Huan to know about the entanglement between the three of them. But what you’re referring to about what happened after the accident—does that mean Qi Huan knew that Han Lin was the one who murdered A-Cheng?” It was clear that Liang Zichen was eager for Wang Shen to answer his question.

“That’s right. Do you remember that day we saw Qi Huan and Han Lin arguing in the corridor? At that time, I guessed that Qi Huan had already guessed everything.” Wang Shen nodded as he answered Liang Zichen’s question.

“But we asked Qi Huan about A-Cheng many times, and she denied everything, even refusing to mention it. If she knew everything, wouldn’t she want to avenge A-Cheng and bring Han Lin to justice?” Liang Zichen frowned, unable to explain Qi Huan’s actions. “Moreover, we ran into Han Lin at the pool today. If Qi Huan knew everything, I think Han Lin should have noticed. But Han Lin seemed fearless, even swaggering around Qi Huan. And Qi Huan didn’t react excessively when she saw the person who hurt her lover. Yet we can see that Qi Huan’s feelings for A-Cheng are indeed very deep. I can’t understand how someone can remain so calm after finding the murderer who hurt their lover. I certainly couldn’t do that.”

“You’re absolutely right about one thing. Han Lin probably really feels invincible right now. Didn’t you hear that recording? The evidence Han Lin has isn’t just harmful to Qi Huan, it could even harm her entire family. Someone like Qi Huan, who enjoys things many people can’t, naturally also bears responsibilities many people can’t bear. She has to consider not only herself and A-Cheng, but also her family. Perhaps she doesn’t want to drag her family down because of A-Cheng’s situation.” Wang Shen connected the recording’s content and arrived at this reasonable conclusion.

"I can't understand how Qi Huan can be so rational at a time like this. Shouldn't love be about being fearless?" Liang Zichen shook his head, not entirely agreeing with Wang Shen's point of view.

“Little friend, liking is unrestrained, while love is restraint.” Wang Shen looked at Liang Zichen and smiled wryly.

"Of course, this is just my own guess. It's also possible that Qi Huan and A Cheng's feelings aren't as deep as we imagine. That's why she wouldn't abandon everything for so-called great love. Can you accept this explanation?" Wang Shen's smile faded, and he offered another guess.

“But Qi Huan could have secretly given us the evidence so we could expose Han Lin’s evil deeds,” Liang Zichen said helplessly.

“When that time really comes, Han Lin will definitely threaten Qi Huan to find a way to save him. A person on the verge of death will do anything. If Qi Huan really has so many concerns as I think, how could she possibly take the risk of providing us with information? In the end, wouldn't she just be shooting herself in the foot? If Qi Huan is a smart woman, I can understand her reasons for not doing so.” Wang Shen smiled bitterly again and shook his head at Liang Zichen.

"I still don't believe that Qi Huan is so stingy with her feelings for A Cheng. A Cheng was willing to risk his life for Qi Huan, so this woman must have a reason to do so." Liang Zichen still firmly believed in his own judgment about love.

"The best way is to let Qi Huan tell the truth herself," Wang Shen replied, stroking his chin a few times. Then, Wang Shen picked up his phone and dialed Xu Xiaolin's number.

"Hey, great writer, how's Qi Huan doing? Oh, I see. Are you still with her? Yes, she needs some encouragement. Great writer, I have a favor to ask, you have to help me this time, for the sake of our years of friendship. It's just a small matter, could you ask Qi Huan to come out now, to our usual coffee shop? I know it's difficult for you, but you know, I wouldn't be asking you this unless it was really urgent. Okay, we'll wait for you at the coffee shop." With that, Wang Shen hung up the phone.

"Captain Wang, you're going to meet Qi Huan right now?" Liang Zichen asked in surprise as he listened to Wang Shen's conversation.

Wang Shen nodded. "As I said, only Qi Huan himself can answer some of my questions. And I feel that some things can't be delayed any longer." While responding to Liang Zichen's question, Wang Shen transferred the recording from his computer to his phone.

“Alright, let’s be frank this time and get straight to the point. Let’s see how she handles it. Let’s go.” Wang Shen stood up from his chair and patted the middle-aged policeman on the shoulder to express his gratitude.

"Captain Wang, you've wasted a day of my holiday today. You'd better make it up to me later," Liang Zichen nagged behind Wang Shen.
