Chapter Four: Spicy Restaurants

As soon as Wang Shenggang finished speaking, Lin Su chimed in. "I think I'll go to that counseling center," Lin Su said with a smile. "Because I have a book signing event in the city center tomorrow morning. After the signing event, I'll go to that counseling center to find out more about it."

“That’s true, Writer Lin has a lot of book signings, unlike me who’s quite free. Wang Shen, I’ll go to that restaurant with you.” After Xu Xiaolin said this, Lin Su smiled awkwardly, picked up the cold coffee next to him and took a sip.

"Okay, it's decided then. I'll communicate with that psychological counseling center in my capacity as a police officer first, so that you can start working when you go tomorrow."

After everything was arranged and the three exchanged pleasantries for a while, they all left "Zhile Cafe".

The cities of Jiangnan are usually rainy, but today was an unusually sunny day, as if the sun had been wandering for a long time and had briefly returned home. Xu Xiaolin parked her white Audi and got out. Xu Xiaolin's attire today was even more capable than yesterday. She had skipped her suit jacket and opted for a simpler tracksuit instead. She paired it with black sneakers; anyone who didn't know her would mistake her for a policewoman who had just finished boxing.

Wang Shen was already standing at the entrance of the "Spicy" restaurant, waving to Xu Xiaolin who was not far away. Wang Shen looked at Xu Xiaolin as she walked up to him, then sized her up from head to toe, and clapped his hands. "Very professional."

"Thank you." Xu Xiaolin tossed her neat short hair, walked past Wang Shen, and headed straight for the store door. "Stop with the small talk, my appearance fee is very expensive, hurry up."

Wang Shen smiled and followed him into the store.

The "Spicy" restaurant is a typical Sichuan eatery, with bright red pillars and railings, yet it lacks any of the hustle and bustle of a typical street restaurant. There's no overpowering aroma of chili peppers, and no clinking glasses among the customers. Later, they learned that this is a fairly upscale restaurant in the area, with a semi-private layout throughout. Guests at different tables won't see or disturb each other. As soon as Wang Shen and Xu Xiaolin entered, a well-dressed greeter approached them. "Hello, gentlemen, what time did you make your reservation?" The greeter was very polite, and her tone was pleasant to hear.

"I've already made an appointment with your Manager Han. Could you please tell him that Wang Shen has arrived?"

Upon hearing this, the greeter smiled and nodded, first finding seats for Wang Shen and Xu Xiaolin before going to find their manager.

Not long after Wang Shen and Xu Xiaolin sat down, a more well-dressed middle-aged man strode out from the inner hall. "I'm sorry to have kept you waiting. Let's go inside to talk." The manager in front of them, Manager Han, was wearing a suit and silver-rimmed glasses, and had a very refined appearance.

Wang Shen and Xu Xiaolin followed Manager Han around two corners before stopping in front of a carved door. Manager Han gently pushed open the carved wooden door, stepped aside, and invited Wang Shen and Xu Xiaolin inside. Shortly after the three were seated, a waiter brought in three cups of tea and then left.

"Officer Wang, I already know why you've come." Whether he spoke or not, Manager Han's smile never wavered.

“In that case, Manager Han, let me get straight to the point. We’re here again regarding Han Mo’s case from three years ago. We need to discuss supplementing the files with you because they require them. You should understand, right?” Wang Shen looked at Manager Han and smiled.

"Of course, of course. I will answer the police's questions truthfully. I will also keep the customers' privacy absolutely confidential, Officer Wang, please rest assured."

"You were the one who answered Han Mo's food order call?"

"Yes."

When you received this food order call, did you have any conversation or communication with the person involved?

“Although a while has passed, as you know, Han Mo is a celebrity and a high-end client of our restaurant. So I took her call very seriously and have a deep impression of that call. I remember that we did discuss the issue of ordering food.”

"If you still remember, could you please write down the conversation?" Wang Shen said, taking out paper and pen from his pocket and placing them in front of Manager Han.
