Chapter Ninety-Seven: The Vanished Presentation

Sima Chu overheard the conversation between Xiao Ye and Xiao Qing, and after considering his own circumstances, he decided to give up. However, later, encouraged by Qi Huan, Sima Chu still participated in the career planning competition. To prepare for this competition, Sima Chu turned down two part-time jobs and spent all his time outside of class researching in the library.

The career planning competition required the use of a computer, a significant challenge for Sima Chu. However, after his brief conversation with Qi Huan at the hospital, Sima Chu had gradually become acquainted with her. This time, Sima Chu himself asked Qi Huan to borrow a spare laptop.

Time flies, and the two-week competition deadline is fast approaching. That night, Qi Huan returned to her dorm to finalize her career plan and presentation. But before she could even open the door, she heard a loud argument erupting inside.

Qi Huan gently pushed open the door and saw Xiao Qing and Xiao Ye standing to one side, while Sima Chu stood opposite them. Qi Huan didn't know what the three of them were arguing about. Usually, Sima Chu was the most peaceful person, and even when teased by his classmates, he would just laugh it off. Xiao Qing and Xiao Ye, aside from occasionally joking with Sima Chu, generally got along peacefully with him. Now, the three of them stood face to face, arguing heatedly. If you looked closely, you could see two blurry lines of tears on Xiao Qing's cheeks.

"My lovely ladies, what's going on here?" Qi Huan chuckled, interrupting their argument.

"Sister Huan, Sima Chu bullied me." Xiao Qing saw Qi Huan walk into the dormitory, grabbed Qi Huan's arm, and faced Qi Huan, tears streaming down her face.

Qi Huan put down her laptop bag, patted Xiao Qing on the shoulder, and after comforting her for a while, joked, "You think Xiao Chu can bully you? It's already good enough that you don't bully him."

Xiaoqing completely rejected Qi Huan's attempt at reconciliation. She let go of Qi Huan's hand, sat on her bed, hugged her pillow, and burst into tears. Between sobs, she cried out, "Sister Huan, how could you bully me too?"

"What on earth is going on?" Qi Huan looked at Xiao Ye standing to the side in confusion, then at Sima Chu. Sima Chu's face was also filled with anger, a rare sight for her.

At this moment, Sima Chu sat back in his chair, put his arms on the back of the chair, and buried his head in his arms.

Qi Huan walked to Sima Chu's side, gently patted Sima Chu's shoulder, and asked, "What exactly happened? Tell me, and I'll see if I can help you."

Sima Chu looked up at Qi Huan, his eyes filled with helplessness and grievance. Then, Sima Chu turned and pointed to the computer screen. Qi Huan's gaze followed Sima Chu's gesture and fell on the computer screen. A presentation was open on the screen. Qi Huan glanced at the title and realized it was Sima Chu's presentation for the Career Planning Competition. The presentation was currently on the first page and seemed to be working fine.

Qi Huan glanced at Sima Chu, then picked up the mouse and started flipping through the presentation on the screen. But after only a few pages, Qi Huan immediately realized the seriousness of the problem.

"What exactly happened?" Qi Huan's smile faded, and she looked at Sima Chu seriously, asking, "I remember your presentation was basically finished a few days ago, how come there are only a few pages left now?"

Sima Chu shook his head in distress, then pointed to Xiao Qing sitting on the bed.

"You're talking nonsense! Who gave you permission to slander me like this!" Xiaoqing saw Sima Chu's hand gesture and then couldn't control her emotions any longer and burst out.

Seeing the scene before her, Qi Huan roughly guessed the reason for their argument. But, surely not? It couldn't be what Qi Huan thought, could it? Judging from the current situation, only the first few pages of Sima Chu's career planning presentation remained; the rest were missing for some unknown reason. Qi Huan knew how much Sima Chu valued this competition, so she must be extremely anxious. The reason Sima Chu and Xiao Qing clashed was probably because Sima Chu believed Xiao Qing was responsible for the destruction of the presentation. But why would Sima Chu think that? Qi Huan observed Xiao Qing's reaction; she didn't seem to agree with Sima Chu's accusation. And what caused such a large portion of the presentation to be lost? Qi Huan considered the worst-case scenario, but still shook her head inwardly. She couldn't believe her roommate would resort to such despicable means.

“I understand the general situation. It seems that Xiao Chu’s presentation was damaged, and Xiao Chu believes that Xiao Qing is responsible. That’s why you two are arguing, is that right?” Qi Huan waved to Xiao Qing as she explained the situation she had received.

"Sister Huan! It has nothing to do with me!" Xiaoqing said to Qi Huan with a sob in her voice after hearing what Qi Huan said.

Qi Huan nodded and said, "Xiao Qing, don't be anxious. No one has confirmed that you did this yet. First of all, Xiao Chu, can you tell me why you are so sure that this is related to Xiao Qing?"

After Qi Huan asked that question, the entire dormitory suddenly fell silent. The other three students all turned their gazes to Sima Chu, awaiting her answer. Qi Huan sighed inwardly; it turned out that they hadn't even figured out this most basic question before their argument.

"Everything was fine before I went to buy dinner. But when I came back, it was like this. And when I came back, I saw Xiaoqing sitting in front of my computer, flipping through my presentation. Huan-jie, who else could it be but her?" Sima Chu tried her best to hold back her tears, pointing at Xiaoqing as she spoke. "I specifically turned off the presentation when I left, and she still went through my computer like that."

After saying that, Qi Huan glanced at the two white steamed buns on Sima Chu's table and nodded.

"You're talking nonsense!" Xiaoqing retorted excitedly.

"Little Qing Fairy, please calm down and talk things out. If Xiao Chu said anything wrong, just tell her." Qi Huan comforted the agitated Little Qing.

"That's right, I was looking at her presentation when she came in. But I only glanced at it after I saw it was open on the screen. I didn't open it myself! She's clearly slandering me!" Xiaoqing defended herself.

Qi Huan looked at the two of them and sighed softly. "Xiao Chu, before you went to buy dinner, was anyone else in the dorm?"

"No, it's just me." Sima Chu shook his head.

"Did you lock the door when you left?" Qi Huan continued to ask.

"It's locked." Sima Chu nodded again.
