Chapter 31 Conflict
The night was as dark as ink and dotted with stars. Li Lingyu and Jiang Xianchuan sat in front of the tent, discussing various topics.
They talked about everything from trivial matters in life to their ideal pursuits, from astronomy and geography to literature and art. Time passed unnoticed, the sky gradually turned pale, and a new day was about to begin.
When the first ray of sunlight shone through the clouds onto the earth, Shi Yi slowly opened her eyes, rubbed her eyes, sat up, and stretched.
At this moment, she heard a slight sound coming from outside the tent, so she opened the tent door and walked out.
Jiang Xianchuan was standing by the campfire, stirring the food in the pot with an iron spoon in his hand. He had a faint smile on his face.
When he saw me coming out, he smiled and said hello: "Good morning, how did you sleep last night?"
Shi Yi walked over and replied with a smile: "It's fine. Thank you for keeping watch all night."
Jiang Xianchuan shook his head lightly, indicating that you're welcome, then poured the cooked food into a bowl and handed it to Shi Yi.
Shi Yi took the bowl and looked down. It turned out to be a bowl of steaming porridge with some nuts and dried fruits in it.
"I made this this morning. Try it and see how it tastes." Jiang Xianchuan said.
Shi Yi nodded, picked up the spoon and took a sip, and immediately felt a warm current flowing down his throat into his stomach. The porridge had a delicate texture, sweet and delicious, leaving a lasting aftertaste.
"It tastes good!" Shi Yi exclaimed, "But when did you learn to cook?"
Jiang Xianchuan smiled and said, "With the help of my Yubao, it's natural that it tastes good."
After finishing their breakfast, the three packed up their tents and prepared to leave.
At this moment, several fully armed men walked in from another door. They were carrying various weapons and equipment and looked very professional and serious.
As soon as they entered the room, they saw Jiang Xianchuan and the other two. They immediately became alert and clenched their guns tightly.
The leader frowned and asked loudly: "Who are you! Why are you here!" His voice was full of vigilance and suspicion.
Jiang Xianchuan looked at their attitude and felt unhappy. So he responded without showing any weakness: "This is not your home, why do you care where we are?" His tone was a little provocative, making the atmosphere tense.
"This is our camp. What exactly are you doing here?" The leader looked at Jiang Xianchuan and the others warily, holding his weapon tightly in his hands, ready to deal with any possible danger at any time. The people behind him were also nervous and alert.
"Oh~ So this is your camp. We were planning to go to the outskirts of the city, and we stopped here to rest yesterday when we passed by." Jiang Xianchuan answered with a relaxed look on his face, as if he didn't care about the other party's questioning, without any fear at all.
After listening to Jiang Xianchuan's explanation, the leader was a little skeptical, but his hostility decreased a little.
He frowned and looked at Jiang Xianchuan and the others, trying to determine whether they were really just passing by.
"Since this is your camp, let's leave now." Jiang Xianchuan said and turned around and left with the three of them.
"Wait! Let us check your backpack!" one of the men shouted, his tone full of provocation and threats. They didn't seem to want to let Jiang Xianchuan and others off easily.
Hearing this, Li Lingyu's face turned gloomy. He tightly grasped the hilt of the knife in his hand, ready to deal with any possible conflict at any time.
However, Jiang Xianchuan patted his hands gently, signaling him to remain calm and not act impulsively.
"Check our backpacks? For what?" Jiang Xianchuan stopped and looked back at the men, anger flashing in his eyes. He thought he had already made enough concessions, but he didn't expect the other party to be so unreasonable.
