Chapter 182 Chen Mingyuan's Purple Clay Teapot

They mostly possess genuine antiques, such as pottery, porcelain, jade, and calligraphy and paintings.

He received mostly miscellaneous items, such as lacquerware, purple clay teapots, inkstones, and coins.

It's difficult for ordinary people to master authentic antiques, let alone gain in-depth knowledge of these miscellaneous items.

Moreover, those paintings and calligraphy works were not as cunning as the "Little Yunlin" in his hands.

Luo Yunhang glanced at Fang Yanzong's smug expression again, and he understood everything. Was this guy crazy?

He couldn't remember ever offending him.

Luo Yunhang stopped thinking about it. The previous four people had finished speaking, and it was his turn.

He quickly stood up.

"The first thing I determined was that it was a Republic-era imitation Song Dynasty inkstone."

The reason for this judgment is that although it appears to be in the style of the Song Dynasty and the material is the same as that of the Duan inkstone, a closer look reveals that the craftsmanship is very rough, and the color and luster are not very good.

Judging from its craftsmanship and patina, this inkstone dates back to the Republican era.

After Luo Yunhang finished introducing the first item, Xiang Yizhai and Master Li both nodded in agreement.

"Well said, please continue."

When Fang Yanzong saw that the first question hadn't stumped him, his face darkened instantly.

Luo Yunhang picked up the second item.

"This is a vermilion lacquer incense box from the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty, which can be determined from its style and design."

As for this painting, the seal "Xiao Yunlin" belongs to Gao Jian, a painter from the Qing Dynasty. His courtesy name was Danyou, Deyuan, and his pseudonyms were Lüyun, Danyouzi, Yiyunshanren, Lüyunshanren, and Yuhui Laoren. He was a poet, skilled in landscape painting, and studied the Four Masters of the Yuan Dynasty. He admired Ni Zan and had the seal "Xiao Yunlin".

Therefore, I conclude that this is a painting by Gao Jian.

I'll talk about the Zisha teapot later; let's talk about this coin first.

This is a standard Qin Banliang coin. The inscription on the obverse is tall and narrow, slightly curved, with a round outer shape and a square hole. There are no rims on the obverse or reverse. The shape and inscription are exquisite.

"Haha, Yunhang, you've really changed a lot in just a few days! Just half a year ago you were a clueless newbie who relied on luck to find bargains, but now you've grown into a very good antique expert."

"Xiao Yunlin, this painting has stumped many people. Even Yanzong couldn't identify the artist back then, but you actually did."

Xiang Yizhai was gratified, thinking to himself that Luo Yunhang was truly a natural talent for this line of work. His learning speed was simply astonishing; it had only been half a year, and he had already become so accomplished.

Xiang Tianhong looked at Luo Yunhang with envy. He had never heard his grandfather praise anyone like that in public before, not even him.

Fang Yanzong curled his lip in dissatisfaction, thinking that the kid was just lucky to have run into someone like that.

“You haven’t mentioned the purple clay teapot yet!” Fang Yanzong pointed to the purple clay teapot on the table.

Luo Yunhang picked up the purple clay teapot at a leisurely pace.

"This Yixing teapot is a work by Chen Mingyuan, a famous Yixing teapot master from the Qing Dynasty."

Upon hearing Luo Yunhang's words, everyone who knew about Chen Mingyuan and the Zisha teapot was stunned.

This is clearly an ordinary Zisha teapot made by an anonymous person in the Qing Dynasty, but it has been passed down to this day because of its simple and elegant shape.

How come this kid claims it's Chen Mingyuan's work?

If it really is Chen Mingyuan's work, then that's amazing.

Xiang Yizhai and Master Li's expressions instantly turned serious.

Fang Yanzong replied as if he had heard a funny joke: "You're being deliberately mysterious. You're wrong. This is just an ordinary Qing Dynasty Yixing teapot!"

Luo Yunhang neither confirmed nor denied.

Xiang Yizhai looked at Fang Yanzong unhappily: "Yanzong, I've said it again and again, in our line of work, never think you've learned enough. It's always good to listen to other people's opinions."

Yunhang is a prudent person. Since he dared to say it in front of everyone, he must have his reasons. Let's hear what he has to say before refuting him.

Xiang Yizhai had embarrassed Fang Yanzong, and he nodded with great displeasure: "You're right."

He wanted to see what kind of nonsense this kid was going to spout!

"Actually, at first I also thought it was just an ordinary Qing Dynasty purple clay teapot."

Because no marks were left on it, its owner is unknown.

But I was suddenly drawn to the inscription on the teapot.

The inscription on this lotus seed teapot reads: "It nourishes your pure virtue, washes away the summer heat, and is a friend to gentlemen, so that you may enjoy it day and night."

Its font is nine-tenths similar to the font on Master Chen Mingyuan's pumpkin pot that I saw in the museum.

As my friends and elders know, I have some knowledge of calligraphy. Such similar fonts, and both being works from the Qing Dynasty, caught my attention.

So I studied this Yixing teapot again and again.

Finally, I discovered something unusual.

Who would have thought that the owner of this pot would leave his name on the spout?

"Hidden Pot"

I discovered the two characters "壶隐" hidden in the spout of the teapot. Chen Mingyuan, also known as Hefeng and Shixia Shanren, was the author of "壶隐".

Therefore, I concluded that this Yixing teapot was a work by Master Chen Mingyuan.

As soon as Luo Yunhang finished speaking, Xiang Yizhai led the way, and a burst of enthusiastic applause rang out.

Even though the authenticity hasn't been verified yet, his meticulousness, in-depth research, and exceptional insight have earned him widespread recognition.

Fang Yanzong had nothing to say and joined in the applause.

Xiang Tianhong, representing everyone, came over with a magnifying glass and flashlight to verify. He carefully examined the area and indeed found a "pot hidden" mark inside the spout.

Then consider the font of the inscription on the body of the pot and the shape of the pot itself.
