Chapter 25 Am I your biological child?

This time when he came back, he had no intention of letting anyone off the hook. Whoever made him suffer, he would make them suffer too.

Liu Yihang and the other two returned to their long-lost room.

For Liu Xiangdong and his wife, it had only been two months, but for him, it felt like a lifetime ago.

You've probably never heard of a son who's already this old still having to squeeze into a small room with his parents, right?

Liu Dahai and Liu Xiaohai each have their own rooms, and even the chickens, ducks, and pigs in the house have their own rooms.

For over a decade, the three of them have lived in this small, dilapidated room.

The family had long since built a bigger and more comfortable house, and the whole family had moved in. The three of them were as if they had been forgotten, living in the mud-brick house that their parents had lived in since they got married more than ten years ago.

Although they live in the same courtyard and see each other all the time, they are worlds apart.

Ge Guihua said that since Liu Yihang is going to study and live on campus anyway, and only comes back for a few days a month, there is no need to arrange a separate room for him.

In this family, no one says a word for them; they've become accustomed to their sacrifices and concessions.

"You haven't used up your daily check-in attempts. Do you want to check in now?"

Liu Yihang pressed the button.

"The host has checked in at the dilapidated old house and received a treasure-hunting rat. Please collect it yourself."

Treasure-hunting rat?

The system check-in hasn't given out anything good for days; it's just been useless things like tea sets, mooncakes, tea leaves, and spoons.

I never expected to receive such a wonderful treasure today.

The instruction manual says that this treasure-hunting mouse can tell where hidden treasures are just by sniffing them out, and it is more interested in the more precious the treasure.

Liu Yihang decided to test its power.

The instruction manual says that the treasure-hunting mouse loves to eat rice, and luckily, there was still some rice left in his miniature space.

While Liu Yihang was changing clothes, he studied the treasure-hunting rat, while Lin Guihua and Liu Xiangdong were tidying up their room.

The small room was divided in two by Lin Guihua with a tattered cloth curtain. On one side was a larger four-poster bed for Liu Xiangdong and Lin Guihua.

On the other side was a small wooden bed and a simple desk, which was where Liu Yihang lived. The bed and desk were made by Liu Xiangdong himself by cutting wood.

No one has lived here for two months. This house is made of adobe and has recently accumulated a lot of dust and cobwebs.

Lin Guihua went out to fetch water and tidy up.

Ge Cuihua's loud voice came from outside.

"You come back and don't even offer to help with the cooking! Do you expect me to serve you?"

Don't think that just because your son got into college, he's something special.

"You've been away for so long, where's the money you earned? Hurry up and hand it over, or I'll go find it myself!"

Then came a crisp sound.

Upon hearing Ge Cuihua's words, Lin Guihua dropped the broken enamel basin in her hand and looked at Ge Cuihua in surprise.

"Mom, didn't we agree that the money we earned in the past two months would be used to pay Hanghang's tuition? Why do we have to hand it over?"

"I did say that, but you also need to hand over the money so I can distribute it. I will definitely give him the money he is owed."

"I've calculated it. Your total salary for two months is four thousand two. Give it to me!" Ge Cuihua arrogantly stretched out her hand.

That old hag never even considered their living expenses; she treated them like money-making machines, who didn't need to eat or drink.

Lin Guihua doesn't understand her at all. She's already in her pocket, and she expects her to spit it out?

How could that be?

This has happened countless times before. I make empty promises to the couple, saying I'll save the money for Hanghang's education, and coax them into letting me manage all the money.

However, when they need money, the situation changes. Since the family hasn't split up, it's not good to be too biased towards them. If they want to study, they have to earn their own money; if they can't afford it, they shouldn't study.

Of all the grandsons in the family, Hanghang is the thinnest and weakest, even Xiaohai is stronger than Hanghang.

If she had known this would be the outcome, why would she have put up with that old woman and caused herself and her child unnecessary suffering?

The money that the couple worked so hard to earn was all used by this wretched wife to subsidize the second and third sons' families. Don't think she didn't know.

The second son goes out to gamble and drink every day; where does he get the money?

The third son and his wife went out to work, and they only gave a symbolic few dollars home each month. How much did he secretly keep?

Their family is the most unfortunate.

During this time, Lin Guihua has seen more of the world with her son, and with the confidence that money brings, she is no longer as timid and hesitant as before.

At worst, they could just break off all pretense of civility; after all, this old woman had never given her a kind look.

Liu Xiangdong came out of the room the moment Ge Cuihua spoke her first words.

He stood in front of his wife and calmly said to his mother, "Mom, this is the money for the children's education. I can't give it to you."

"Liu Xiangdong, you've gone too far! You think what I say doesn't count anymore? Where's my fire poker!" Ge Cuihua searched everywhere for the fire poker she used to discipline people.

Liu Xiaohai and his brother were secretly watching the commotion with smiles on their faces, but when they saw their grandmother getting angry, he immediately fawned over her and found her fire poker behind the door of the main room.

This fire poker was said to be Ge Cuihua's weapon for dealing with people, but in reality, she only used this poker to beat Liu Xiangdong and his family of three.

Everyone else was her precious darling; how could she bring herself to hurt them?

"Grandma, I'm here!" Liu Xiaohai chuckled to himself.

Liu Xiaoya hid at the kitchen door, nervously watching the yard.

Bai Ying openly stood at her door to watch the commotion.

Ge Cuihua took the thick fire poker, raised her arm, and was about to strike Liu Xiangdong.

Liu Xiangdong looked at Ge Cuihua with eyes full of disappointment, but he did not look away.
