Chapter 31 Return Home

Chapter 31 Going Home

"Brother, if you come home a little earlier, you can still meet Sister Yanzi and Sister Meiqin. They just left not long ago."

Xiaomei helped her brother get a basin of hot water. Du Shaojie washed his face and sat at the table to chat with his two sisters.

Wang Yuxiu went to the kitchen and soon brought in two white flour buns, two fried eggs and a plate of pickles.

"Xiaojie, I didn't know you were coming back today, and I didn't prepare anything. Just eat some, and we'll cook a few more dishes tomorrow."

"Mom, this is good!"

Du Shaojie ate with big mouthfuls. Eggs are not often available at home, and frying two at a time is already a special treatment.

After dinner, Xiaomei cleaned the table and went to wash the dishes.

Du Shaojie looked at the water tank and saw that there was still half a tank of water, so he went to fetch two buckets of water.

I heard from my family that Su Dapeng would come to help fetch water every day during this period, without interruption. He felt very warm to have such a childhood friend.

However, he did not go out at night, and stayed in the house to talk with his family.

"Brother, I want to go to the farm with Xiaoya to see you during the summer vacation, is that okay?"

"Sure, I'll take you two to go fishing when you go."

"Great!"

The two little girls almost jumped up with joy after getting their brother's affirmative answer.

As children who grew up in the city, the vast world outside has a great attraction for them.

The next day.

After getting up, Du Shaojie cleaned up the kitchen stove first.

Last night, Wang Yuxiu said that the fire was not very strong recently, so he cleaned the furnace and chimney, and then burned a handful of old newspapers to try it out. He washed his hands when he felt that there was no problem.

"Mom, I'll go to the unit in the morning and come back for lunch at noon."

After washing his hands and changing into clean clothes, Du Shaojie prepared to go to the bureau.

On the one hand, he planned to go to see Liao Yongxin, and on the other hand, Chen Jizhou asked him to go to the house to get something, which happened to be done in one trip.

"I know, ride slowly."

Wang Yuxiu didn't ask much, but just reminded him casually.

Du Shaojie responded and pushed his bicycle out the door.

When he walked into the cafeteria, everyone was preparing lunch. Many people greeted him with a smile, and even the "Second Chef" and "Third Chef" nodded at him.

"Are you willing to come back? I heard that you are doing well over there, Master Du."

Liao Yongxin looked at him with a smile and waved for him to come over.

Although the bureau is about a hundred kilometers away from the Laolonghe Farm, there are two buses every week, and there will always be some information transmitted back.

Liao Yongxin was obedient and Du Shaojie had a good relationship over there. Everyone called him "Master Du", so he smiled and teased him.

"Master Liao, don't make fun of me. How dare I call myself a master in front of you?"

Du Shaojie waved his hands repeatedly, then came up with a bag and took a look.

The dishes prepared for lunch include [braised pork with cabbage and vermicelli], [roasted tofu], and [stir-fried shredded yellow radish]. The food seems to have improved a bit.

"Xiao Tang, Xiao Liu, you two will cook the lunch. I'm going to go outside to get some fresh air."

Liao Yongxin arranged the work and went out from the back door with Du Shaojie.

Then they found a quiet corner and talked while basking in the sun.

"Here is some Codonopsis pilosula that I picked last year. You can take it back to make soup."

Du Shaojie handed the bag in his hand to Liao Yongxin. There was nothing good to get this season. This little Codonopsis pilosula was what was left from the last time we stewed mutton.

Liao Yongxin didn't bother to be polite with him and reached out to take it.

"Are the old director and his family all right? You are a good kid. I have been away for so long and I have never heard anyone say anything bad about you."

"The old director and his family are doing OK. They are not starving even if they don't eat well. But the other day, the field office killed two yellow sheep, and everyone followed suit to have a bite, so they finally have some food in their stomachs."

Du Shaojie said a few simple words, and Liao Yongxin couldn't help but sigh after hearing them.

"It's not bad. I guess they will be back by the end of the year. Xiao Du, you should be smart and don't get too close to the old director and his family, lest someone cause trouble for you."

While speaking, Liao Yongxin stretched out his hand and pointed to the office building not far away.

The office building is a three-story building in Russian style, with a history of more than ten years.

Du Shaojie naturally understood who the other party was referring to, and nodded seriously.

"I know, Master Liao, you are busy, and I have to go to the old director's house. The old director needs 'aspirin', I will bring it to him when I go back."

"Don't go to his house to get it, wait, I will go to the infirmary to get two bottles."

Liao Yongxin stopped Du Shaojie from going to the old director's house.

Then he went to the infirmary to get two bottles of "aspirin" and some cold medicine, stuffed them into Du Shaojie's pocket, and signaled him to leave quickly.

Du Shaojie did not ask much, thinking that there must have been some changes in the bureau recently, so it would be better to avoid the limelight.

After leaving the Heavy Industry Bureau, he rode his bike to Su Dapeng's unit. He

mentioned Su Dapeng's name to the guard, and the guard quickly helped to call him out.

"Shaojie? Are you back? Wait for me for a moment, I'm going to change my clothes, and it's time to get off work."

Su Dapeng was quite surprised. If he remembered correctly, it seemed that this was the first time Du Shaojie came to see him during working hours.

"Don't change your clothes yet, Dapeng. I want to buy a noodle press for the company, a machine that can make [steel wire noodles]. Can you take me to buy it?"

The reason why Du Shaojie came to Su Dapeng at almost noon was to buy a noodle press.

He planned to get together with them in the evening.

"You guys, you really don't come to the temple for no reason. Come on, I'll take you there now."

Su Dapeng muttered, and then took Du Shaojie to the factory's sales department.

It was only a few minutes' walk, and Su Dapeng never stopped talking, asking questions all the time.

Hearing that someone on the farm had shot a yellow sheep, this guy's eyes lit up instantly, and he kept pestering Du Shaojie, saying that he must go to the mountains of Laolong River to have a look when he had a break.

His father has a double-barreled shotgun, and he wants to take it to the mountains to have some fun.

"We'll talk about this later, but I can tell you that there are wolves in the mountains over there, so don't joke around."

Du Shaojie didn't object to Su Dapeng going to the farm, but if he wanted to go into the mountains to hunt, he needed to ask Qin Xiaomei's man first.

Su Dapeng nodded, but he didn't take Du Shaojie's words seriously.

After a while, the two came to the store, and Su Dapeng talked to someone and gave him an ex-factory price.

Du Shaojie and Su Dapeng agreed to meet in the evening, and asked the other party to go directly to his house after work, and he would call Qi Yan and Liang Meiqin.

Then he rode his bike with the noodle press and returned home.

"Mom, I'll cook for lunch. I want to call Dapeng, Yan Zi and Meiqin to eat at home in the evening. I'll prepare dinner, so you don't have to worry about it."

Putting the noodle press away first, Du Shaojie went to the kitchen.

Wang Yuxiu was washing vegetables. There were potatoes, a little pork, a handful of sour beans and three eggs for lunch.

She bought half a kilogram of pork at the butcher's shop in the morning, intending to improve her son's diet.
