The next day, Chen Ze was awakened by a ringing telephone.
He groggily reached out and groped around on the bedside table, quickly finding his phone.
I answered the call, "Hello, who is it? It's so early in the morning."
The voice on the other end of the phone said, "It's me, your uncle."
"Uncle, is something the matter? It's so early in the morning."
Chen Zhengang said in a deep voice, "Aze, come back quickly, your grandmother has passed away."
Upon hearing the news, Chen Ze jumped out of bed and shouted, "What did you say? Grandma passed away?"
"Okay, come back soon!" The voice on the other end of the phone was low.
"Uncle, I understand, I'll be right back." Chen Ze hung up the phone, his eyes welling up with tears.
When his wife, Wang Siyu, heard the news, she quickly comforted him, saying, "Husband, the dead cannot be brought back to life. Please accept my condolences!"
Chen Zeqiang suppressed his grief and quickly packed his luggage.
Liu Bingjie and Amy each carried a newborn daughter as they came out.
"Honey, should our daughter go back too?"
Chen Ze waved his hand, "No need, these two little ones are only a few days old, let them stay at home and let the nanny take care of them."
Then, Chen Ze and his three wives hurriedly embarked on their journey home.
Throughout the journey, Chen Ze kept recalling his grandmother's voice and smile.
He posted a message on Weibo: "Grandma, may you rest in peace."
Shortly after the announcement, many influential figures began to comment, offering their condolences to Mr. Chen.
In less than half an hour, there were hundreds of comments, all expressing condolences.
Two hours later.
When they arrived at Chenjia Village, there were wreaths at the door and a mourning hall had been set up at Grandma's house.
Chen Ze hurried to the altar, lit three incense sticks and bowed. Looking at his grandmother's peaceful portrait, he could no longer hold back his tears and knelt down with a thud, saying in a sorrowful voice, "Grandma, I'm late."
The surrounding relatives cast sympathetic or scrutinizing glances at him.
Before long, a convoy arrived at the gate. Shen Ya got out of the car, and the bodyguards behind her carried a wreath and placed it by the gate.
As Shen Ya entered the mourning hall, a receptionist handed him a lit incense stick.
Shen Ya took the incense, bowed three times to the portrait of Chen Ze's grandmother, then looked at Chen Ze kneeling beside her and said softly, "Mr. Chen, please accept my condolences."
Chen Ze looked up at Shen Ya with some surprise. "President Shen, thank you for coming. You're very kind."
Next, a continuous stream of luxury car convoys arrived at the entrance.
As more and more people come to pay their respects, the entrance is already overflowing with wreaths, so many that there isn't enough room to put them all.
Wang Siyu immediately arranged for someone to place the wreaths at her uncle's house.
Chen Zhensheng was overjoyed to see his son's current influence.
However, when Chen Ze passed by him without even saying hello, a sudden sense of loss welled up in his heart.
His wife, Huang Yanhong, watched as one business celebrity after another came to pay their respects. She didn't dare to say a word, but her eyes were fixed on Chen Ze, her heart filled with jealousy and resentment.
What's infuriating is that Chen Ze, who is so rich, doesn't even offer them any help.
She looked at her husband, Chen Zhensheng, and whispered, "Honey, Mom has passed away. This villa will be ours from now on."
Chen Zhensheng hesitated for a moment and said, "But this villa was built with money from Aze!"
Huang Yanhong glared at him with exasperation, "Are you stupid? Even though he paid for the villa, the land still belongs to us. We have the land deed, what are you afraid of?"
Chen Wei, the son standing next to him, chimed in, "That's right, Dad. We have the land deed. Even if we go to court, we can still win."
Chen Zhensheng was persuaded by the two men, and his eyes became firm.
In the afternoon, people came to pay their respects in an endless stream.
Ge Weidong led more than fifty members of the cotton merchants to pay their respects. They were all dressed in black with white corsages pinned to their left chests.
The hostesses offered them incense one by one.
After everyone finished paying their respects, Ge Weidong walked up to Chen Ze and solemnly said, "Mr. Chen, please accept our condolences. We, the members of our chamber of commerce, have come here to express our respect for the late Mr. Chen."
Chen Ze nodded: "President Ge, thank you for your kindness, it's very thoughtful."
Immediately afterwards, members of the Cantonese merchant group arrived one after another.
The crowd lined up in neat rows and stepped forward one by one to pay their respects.
Some people who had traveled a long distance did not arrive at Chenjia Village in Guangcheng until the next day.
These are the Wang family of Beijing and the Zhao family of Shanghai...
On the third day, after the worship ceremony ended.
Chen Zhensheng met with Chen Ze for a detailed discussion.
“Son, your grandma has passed away, and it’s not good for this villa to be empty. The houses in our Mingzhu neighborhood are old and leak when it rains, so we’re planning to move here. You don’t have any objections, do you?”
Chen Ze glanced at his stepmother Huang Yanhong and refused without hesitation: "I don't agree. I paid for the house to be built."
Hearing Chen Ze's decisive refusal, Huang Yanhong's temper flared instantly. She stood up, pointed at Chen Ze, and said with a displeased expression, "You're so rich, living in a big villa in Shenzhen. What's wrong with letting us live in this small villa?"
Chen Ze smiled.
"It's my business if I have money. Is there a problem if I just don't want to let you live here?"
Chen Wei sneered, "It's true that you paid for the house, but the land is in my dad's name. I'm telling you this because we're family."
Chen Ze frowned, his eyes turning cold: "Chen Wei, don't think you can cause trouble just because you have a land deed. I made a deal with Grandma when I built this villa; it's going to be left to me."
Huang Yanhong put her hands on her hips and said in a shrill voice, "Hmph, your grandmother's words don't count. If you don't agree, then we'll see you in court."
