Chapter 38 Going to Shanghai to Make Money

The next day at noon, Chen Ze got his food, found an empty seat, and was just about to pick up his chopsticks when his phone vibrated in his pocket.

I took out my phone and saw it was a call from Wang Kaicheng. I answered it.

"Hey, Mr. Wang, what can I do for you?"

The voice on the other end of the phone said, "Boss, company expenses are piling up, and our cash reserves will only last until the end of October at the latest. What do you think..."

"Mr. Wang, I understand. Don't worry about the money, I'll figure something out. You just need to take care of the company."

After hanging up the phone, Chen Ze pinched the bridge of his nose with two fingers.

He hadn't expected that ten million in funds would only be enough for the company to burn for a little over a month. He currently had forty-two million left, but as the company's business grew, this amount of money would probably only last for three months at most.

I was thinking about whether to apply for a bank loan, but given that my company was currently losing money, I estimated that the chances of approval were quite low, and I didn't have any connections in this area, so it was simply not feasible.

After much thought, the only way to make quick money is by buying stocks and futures.

He carefully recalled the futures market surge in 2010.

Suddenly, a thought flashed through his mind, and he remembered the hottest topic of 2010: Ge Weidong, known as the "Eastern Heretic," and Lin Guangmao, the "Western Madman," who made billions in cotton futures that year.

The difference is that Ge Weidong made over five billion yuan by going long on cotton futures in the United States.

Lin Guangmao was truly remarkable. He invested six million yuan in domestic cotton futures, going long, and earned 1.3 billion yuan in just one month, a full two hundred times his initial investment.

How could Chen Ze miss such a great opportunity? After lunch, he went straight to his counselor to ask for leave and then bought a plane ticket to Shanghai.

After boarding, he found his seat was in the aisle, so he asked the man next to him, "Brother, could we switch seats?"

The man shook his head and declined: "Sorry, I prefer to sit by the window."

Immediately afterwards, the seats on the plane were filled up one by one. In front of Chen Ze sat a fashionable young woman, and next to her sat a middle-aged man in his forties.

To get a seat by the window, he reached out and gently patted the shoulder of the older man sitting in front of him, and said with a smile, "Hello, sir, I'm with this beautiful lady next to you. Could we switch seats?"

The middle-aged man looked at him with a mocking expression and laughed, "What a coincidence, I'm with her too. We've lived together for decades. How long have you two been together?"

"Ah...you two know each other?" Chen Ze asked awkwardly.

The middle-aged man didn't answer him, but looked at his daughter: "Xiyu, do you know this handsome young man in the back?"

Shen Xiyu turned her head, glanced at Chen Ze, and then shook her head: "Dad, I don't know him."

Shen Xiyu is from Shanghai and is a recent college graduate. She works at the same company as her father, but has only been working there for a little over a month and is still an intern.

Upon hearing the daughter say that she didn't know him, the middle-aged man turned his gaze to Chen Ze and asked, "Young man, do you particularly want to sit by the window?"

Upon hearing this, Chen Ze's face showed a hint of embarrassment, but he quickly nodded and replied with a smile, "Uncle, you have such discerning eyes! To be honest, this is my first time flying, so I was hoping to sit closer to the window and enjoy the leisurely drifting white clouds outside."

Hearing this, Chen Xiyu chided him in an annoyed tone: "Handsome boy, you're exaggerating! In broad daylight, as long as it's not raining, you can see white clouds every day. Do you really have to buy a plane ticket just to see those white clouds?"

Faced with the beautiful woman's scolding, Chen Ze simply smiled and said slowly, "My dear sister, you don't understand. When we look at the clouds from the ground, we can only see their flawless white appearance."

"But if you look at it from an airplane, it's a different story. You can see the 'inner' world of the clouds."

After saying that, he deliberately winked, as if he had really glimpsed the secrets deep within the white clouds.

The father whispered in his daughter's ear, "This young man seems to have some mental issues. Don't talk to him."

Shen Xiyu nodded in agreement, then ignored Chen Ze.

Two hours later, the plane landed on time at Shanghai Airport.

After leaving the airport, Chen Ze hailed a taxi and headed straight for the Shanghai Futures Exchange.

Unexpectedly, no sooner had he stepped into the exchange than Shen Xiyu and her father followed him in.

"Hey, young man, this isn't a hotel, you've come to the wrong place," Shen Shaoteng reminded him.

Chen Ze turned to look at them and explained, "Uncle, I'm here to invest in futures. What are you doing here?"

"I'm an employee here. How much money are you planning to invest? If the amount is large enough, I can introduce you to an excellent analyst."

Chen Ze thought for a moment and said, "More than ten million."

Upon hearing about the investment of ten million, the father and daughter's eyes lit up. Shen Shaoteng extended his right hand and shook hands with Chen Ze: "Let's get to know each other again. My name is Shen Shaoteng. I'm from Shanghai and a senior analyst at the futures exchange. This lady next to me is my daughter, Shen Xiyu, a graduate of Fudan University in Shanghai. She is also an excellent new analyst."

Chen Ze: What the heck is "Outstanding New Analyst"?

"Uncle, are you talking about interns?"

Shen Shaoteng chuckled: "Yes, although she is a very intern, she has always been among the top three in the Department of Finance at Fudan University. Now that she has come to the futures exchange, she has already surpassed many of her colleagues after only one month of internship."
