Chapter 357 Why does she look so familiar?

She imagined the scene of the Lord leading millions of people in a desperate battle against zombies, and the wisdom and determination with which he developed the viral immune solution.

To her, the King was a true hero.

He not only defeated the zombies, but also brought hope and life to bases across the country. He is a truly admirable person.

She prayed silently, hoping that the Duke would remain safe and sound and that his deeds would be passed down to future generations.

She knew that even if she couldn't go back to him, her love for him and her pride in him would never change.

The sounds of people talking around her echoed in her ears, as if she could sense the presence of the Lord.

She closed her eyes, as if she could see his resolute face and those fearless, beautiful eyes.

"Are you alright?" A familiar voice reached her ears. The base manager stood in front of her, his eyes full of concern.

Shangguan Wan'er opened her eyes and saw the warm smile of the base manager.

She quickly wiped away the tears glistening in her eyes and said, her voice choked with emotion:

"It's nothing, I just felt a little touched by the comments around me."

"I see. Captain Jun is indeed everyone's pride; we all admire his heroic deeds." The manager finished speaking, his eyes lingering on the other person's heavily covered face, and asked with some doubt:

"Young official, it's so hot, why do you wrap yourself up so tightly every day?"

Be careful, or you'll get prickly heat.

"I...I'm injured on the face, and I'm afraid I'll scare people!" Shangguan Wan'er said, bowing her head.

"That's strange, I suddenly feel like you're someone I know?" the manager said, stroking his chin.

"Manager, you must have admitted your mistake. If there's nothing else, I'll head back now." Her voice was filled with anxiety as she quickly left.

Since her disfigurement, she has rarely met with others and has always been alone.

Because of her disfigurement, she had to cover herself up every day. In the heat of the day, she was an oddity in other people's eyes, so she preferred to be alone.

As the base administrator watched the departing figure and the heavily wrapped face, his eyes suddenly lit up, and he said:

"I remember now, isn't she the disfigured girl in Captain Jun's portrait before?"

She's been hiding at our base for years; I must go and tell Captain Jun.

After finishing his speech, the manager excitedly took out his phone and made a call.

A magnetic voice came through the phone shortly afterward.

"Hello, I am Junjue. May I ask who you are?"

"Captain Jun, I just saw the person you're looking for at the base."

"What did you say? Say it again?" Upon hearing the other person's voice, Junjue on the other end of the phone stood up excitedly, his chest heaving with emotion.

"I saw that disfigured girl! I was wondering why she looked so familiar; it turns out she's the person you're looking for."

"Where are you! I'm coming right now!" Junjue gripped the phone tightly, his eyes red and swollen, as if he wanted to crush it.

"Our small base in Yuehai City, next to the capital, is called Warm Base. It's located in an office building in the city center that's still habitable. There's a large square next to the building, so it shouldn't take you long to get there."

"Thank you for the information, I'll be right there!"

"If I find her, I will reward you handsomely!" After saying this, the Duke ran out of the fortress, leaving the group of people in the living room dumbfounded.

"What's wrong with the captain? Why are his eyes red?"

"The captain seems so eager, where is he headed?"

"Could it be that they've found news of the vice-captain?"

"I think it's only the vice-captain who could make him act so impulsively."

Junjue ignored the captains' discussions and rushed to Yuehai City next door to bring back the woman who had heartlessly left him.

He had just stepped out the door when he teleported onto Wu Hei's back and said to it:

"Let's go to the city center next door and find your mistress!"

Blackie and Whitey, stay home with the Big White Tiger Wolf King and guard the house. We'll be back soon.

Upon hearing that they couldn't go, Little Black, Little White, Big White Tiger, and the Wolf King looked resentful and obediently lay down on the ground to guard their home.

"Awoo~"

"Woof woof woof..."

Upon hearing that they were looking for their female owner, the two dogs excitedly stood up and ran off before their owner could even speak.

"You're going the wrong way! It's not on the left, it's on the right!"

Junjue was surprised that the two dogs were even more excited than he was, and said helplessly.

"Aww~"

"Woof~"

The two of them quickly stopped and turned to run swiftly down the road to the right.

The sound of "rumbling rumbling rumbling..." rang out, accompanied by the huge bodies of the two dogs, the ground shook continuously and smoke rose everywhere.

Junjue was very nervous. He didn't know if he could catch that heartless woman this time. If he really caught her, he would tie her to his belt every day.

Fifteen minutes later, Junjue followed the two dogs to the large square on the other side and said to them:

"You are too big. Go into the space and rest for a while, or you will scare others."

"Awooooo~"

"Woof woof woof~"

The two dogs looked unhappy; they wanted to follow their male owner to see their female owner.

"I know you miss her a lot. If I see her later, I'll take you all..."

Where are you going?

Before he could finish speaking, he saw two dogs running away in the distance.

Junjue was a little puzzled, so he teleported over and followed the dogs.

He came to a spot not far from him and saw two dogs stop in front of a figure.

The dogs greedily sniffed each other's familiar scents, wagging their tails and trying to touch each other's arms, yet they dared not get too close, as if afraid their movements would startle the other.

Junjue watched quietly, his heart suddenly jolted, he recognized that figure from behind.

That was Wan'er, who left him five years ago!

It was his Wan'er. Although her face was disfigured and hidden under a black mask, he recognized her easily.

He pursed his lips tightly, his heart filled with both heartache and surprise.

"Wan'er...is that you?"

"Did you hear my call a few years ago?"

Why are you avoiding me?

"Do you know how much I miss you? Do you know I can't live without you? Do you know how hard it has been for me to find you?"

Shangguan Wan'er was surprised to see the five black daylily florets. Suddenly, she heard a familiar voice, and she paused, lowering her head to say:

"Handsome guy, you've mistaken me for someone else. I'm not the person you're looking for."

"Even now you still won't admit it? Even if I mistake someone for someone else, do you think your two dogs would mistake someone else?"

They're level eight mutated beasts, how could they possibly be mistaken?

"Awoo~"

"Woof~"

Upon hearing the man's words, the two dogs barked twice in protest before lying down and patiently waiting.
