Chapter 37 The Devastation of the Shelter

The shelter door rattled loudly in the raging wind and rain. The four brothers, Dongfang Ao, Junjue, Di Zhantian, Su Ye, and Ye Yuan, huddled together, their eyes fixed on the doorway.

"This is our first time in a shelter, and we never expected it to turn out like this," Dongfang Ao muttered under his breath, his brows furrowed.

"Yes, the weather outside is a nightmare." Junjue rubbed his arm, clearly the chill had seeped into his bones.

"The shelter should be a safe place, how could it be like this?" Di Zhantian's voice was tinged with anxiety.

Su Ye bit his lower lip tightly, silently observing everything in the shelter. His eyes were unblinking, as if he were searching for something.

Ye Yuan stood quietly to the side, his face expressionless. His gaze was cold and sharp, as if he could see through everything in the shelter to the outside world.

The shelter was in chaos, with signs of destruction everywhere. Paint was peeling off the walls, and the floor was covered with all sorts of garbage; it was a complete mess.

The air was filled with a pungent musty smell and a variety of sour odors that made it feel suffocating.

If it weren't for the dozens of toilets built here, it would probably be even more terrifying!

"This place is practically a ruin; it's a complete mess." Dongfang Ao frowned.

"The wind and rain outside are terrifying. If we go out now, we might get blown away if we're not careful. It looks like we'll have to endure this for the night." Junjue smiled helplessly.

“We must remain vigilant; this place doesn’t seem safe,” Di Zhantian said cautiously, looking around.

Su Ye suddenly strode to a corner, bent down, and carefully examined a pool of black liquid on the ground.

"What is this?" He frowned.

Ye Yuan walked to Su Ye's side, squatted down, and carefully examined the pool of liquid. His gaze deepened.

“This is blood,” he said calmly.

Dongfang Ao, Junjue, and Di Zhantian were stunned, their eyes all fixed on Su Ye and Ye Yuan.

"Blood? How could there be blood here?" The Duke's voice was somewhat complicated as he lowered his head and fell into a brief moment of contemplation.

“When we arrived, there were already people here.” Su Ye’s voice was low and cold.

"Could it be the previous inhabitants?" Di Zhantian frowned.

"Not necessarily." Ye Yuan's eyes sharpened, and his voice was filled with vigilance.

Suddenly, a piercing scream rang out in the shelter, and the four brothers immediately looked toward the source of the sound.

A woman dressed in tattered clothes, her face covered in blood, was curled up in a corner, letting out a shrill scream.

"Help! They're here! They're here!" The woman's voice was filled with fear.

Dongfang Ao, Junjue, and Di Zhantian looked at each other, at a loss for what to do.

Su Ye and Ye Yuan quickly went to the woman's side and tried to comfort her.

"Don't be afraid, we will protect you." Su Ye's voice was gentle.

"Who are they?" Ye Yuan's voice was cold and calm.

The woman pointed tremblingly to the entrance of the shelter.

"They are...they are..."

Suddenly, all the lights in the shelter went out.

Dongfang Ao, Junjue, Di Zhantian, Su Ye, and Ye Yuan were immediately plunged into darkness, their heartbeats echoing throughout the entire shelter.

"Where exactly is this place?" Dongfang Ao's voice was filled with despair.

"It's only been four or five days since the acid rain stopped, and there are already mutated creatures? It seems like this only started after the natural disaster in my past life," the Duke said uncertainly.

"Have we... fallen into a terrifying trap set by mutated monsters?" Di Zhantian's voice was filled with fear.

Su Ye and Ye Yuan's eyes grew even colder as they gripped their weapons tightly.

"Whatever it is, we must kill it." The Duke's voice was full of determination. He had lived for three hundred years during the apocalypse, and he was not afraid of this newly mutated thing.

"No matter who it is, we will defeat them." Ye Yuan's voice was full of determination.

The five brothers huddled together, preparing for the impending terrifying battle.

In the darkness, eerie squeaks echoed, like ghosts from hell.

They knew this was the beginning of the horror they had been waiting for.

Di Zhantian, Dongfang Ao, Su Ye, and Ye Yuan, the four brothers, never expected that their first visit to the shelter would be met with not only a raging storm, but also thunder and lightning.

But inside, it was so crowded that there wasn't even room to put your feet down, and then you encountered something so terrifying.

Suddenly, a loud banging sound came from the room outside, attracting everyone's attention.

Suddenly, everyone in the shelter was shocked to see a giant mutated lizard, eight meters long and more than three meters tall, lying on the glass window outside the room.

This giant lizard has grayish-black skin that is as hard as stone and exudes an evil aura.

Its eyes gleamed with a green light, like two terrifying scarlet gems.

Its tail, like a giant whip, meandered across the ground, each sway stirring up a terrifying gust of wind.

The giant lizard's body was covered with hard, sharp scales, each reflecting a faint light.

Its claws are as hard as steel, enough to tear apart anything that stands in its way.

Even more terrifying is that it has a row of sharp teeth in its mouth, just like a shark's teeth, extremely sharp.

When they saw the giant lizard, they were filled with fear. The giant lizard let out a roar, as if mocking the group's cowardice.

Its eyes were fixed on them inside the room, gleaming with murderous intent. It moved with heavy steps, approaching them.

The young people scattered in panic, but the giant lizard was much faster than they had imagined.

It opened its enormous mouth and lunged at them. Some were torn to shreds by its sharp teeth, while others were whipped by its tail until they bled profusely.

"Bang!"

"ah…."

"Help! Someone's dead!"

"I don't want to die here! I'm so young, I don't want to die!"

The survivors desperately fled the factory, but the giant lizards relentlessly pursued them. They rushed through the dilapidated corridors, running for their lives, but the giant lizards were always far faster than them.

Finally, the survivors braved the raging winds and torrential rain to reach the entrance of another shelter. Clinging to their last glimmer of hope, they desperately pushed the door open.

The door finally opened, and they rushed in, panting, and saw the safe zone inside.

However, when they looked back, the giant lizard suddenly stopped chasing them. It stopped on the large window and growled in a low voice. Its eyes were filled with hatred and desire, like the embodiment of a demon.

The survivors vowed that if they lived, they would warn the world that the world had truly changed and was no longer the peaceful place they knew.
