Chapter 82 The First Day in the Official Shelter

The two walked silently to the door. Zhang Qiang turned around and looked at the couple. A hint of happiness shone through their sleeping faces, which made Zhang Qiang feel a pang of sadness.

He never imagined he would end up on such a path, but he has no regrets for the sake of his life; this is the law of survival.

The two of them took the dog food out of the hall and eagerly took out the little dog food they had and began to wolf it down.

The two people's actions aroused envy and jealousy among those outside the hall, who wanted to come up and ask for some, only to find that the other had only a small amount. They could only turn over, endure their hunger, and continue to sleep.

"Damn, how come I never knew dog food could taste so good? But is it really okay for us to do this?" Zhang Qiang and his friend said in a low voice after finishing their meal.

Yang Wei held Zhang Qiang's hand tightly: "We're just trying to survive, for our families."

"Besides, this is just some dog food. Even if we don't steal it, someone else will. Didn't you see the looks in the eyes of those people around the room?" His voice was filled with helplessness and determination.

"That makes sense."

Zhang Qiang remained silent. He knew Yang Wei was right, but he couldn't shake off the inner conflict.

They are merely survivors of this disaster. Do their former kindness and morality still exist in this cruel world?

Junjue sensed the two thieves leaving, released the two dogs from their mental restraints, opened his eyes, glanced at the two dogs and then at his girlfriend sleeping soundly in his arms, before falling back asleep.

Wuhei was a little dog king, much smarter than Huanghuacai. Not only could it understand human speech, but it could also roughly guess many of its owner's thoughts. When it saw the male owner, it knew that those people were stealing things, but it didn't want to disturb the female owner, so it could only close its eyes and go to sleep with Huanghuacai.

The owner has no food on him right now, so it's the same even if they keep watch all night. Anyway, as two dogs, they have a keen sense of smell and can detect any movement around them immediately if there is any danger.

The next morning, Shangguan Wan'er woke up from her warm embrace and felt that the surroundings were as noisy as a vegetable market. She quickly took the slender hand on her waist and sat up.

As soon as she made a sound, Junjue got up and gently stroked her hair.

"Wan'er, it's only a little past seven o'clock, why don't you sleep a little longer?" Junjue asked gently.

Wan'er rubbed her sleepy eyes and smiled slightly, "I slept quite well yesterday, but I was woken up by the thunder. The rain is really heavy! And it's as noisy as a market around here, so I woke up."

Junjue hugged his girlfriend tightly, gently stroking her hair, and said, "Yes, the weather is terrible. But with you by my side, I feel so warm."

Wan'er looked at Junjue with tender eyes: "You are also my warmth. No matter the wind and rain or the cold, as long as you are here, I feel at ease."

Junjue gently kissed his girlfriend's forehead and said, "Baby, everything will be alright. We'll get through this bad weather together. Soon we'll be facing another typhoon."

Wan'er smiled and nodded: "Yes, we will never be separated, no matter the storm or the typhoon."

They clasped hands together in perfect harmony, quietly feeling each other's warmth and strength.

On such days, they understood the importance of relying on each other and cherished each other's existence even more.

The wind and rain outside the window continued to rage, but their hearts became calm and peaceful.

They don't need words; all they need is someone to lean on.

The two little mixed-breed dogs sensed that their owners had woken up, so they opened their eyes, went over and rubbed against their hands, and then obediently went back to lie down in their dog bed.

Junjue stroked his girlfriend's cheek and whispered, "Thank you for always being by my side and never leaving me."

His girlfriend smiled and replied, "I should be the one saying that. You stole my line. We're a couple who've been through thick and thin together. No matter what difficulties we encounter in the future, we'll face them together."

When Junjue heard Wan'er's words, he just looked at her affectionately. He didn't interrupt her. He had searched for her for two lifetimes and finally found her. He was too grateful to even think about it!

However, these words could only remain in his heart, known only to him. His girlfriend only needed to be happy every day.

Their eyes met, revealing deep love and unwavering confidence.

In such harsh weather, their love became even stronger and more unwavering.

The wind outside the window grew stronger, and the rain intensified. But they were not afraid, for they knew that as long as they stayed together, they could overcome any difficulty.

Junjue and his girlfriend smiled at each other, their hearts filled with hope and unwavering determination for the future. They knew that no matter how fierce the storms, their love would remain steadfast, protecting each other forever.

On this bustling morning, as noisy as a vegetable market, their love shone even brighter amidst the raging wind and rain.

Just as the two were about to continue their conversation, a burst of excited shouts suddenly erupted from the hall, and the survivors in the small room wore similar expressions, all shouting:

"The soldiers at the official shelter have started distributing daily supplies."

"Quick, let's hurry up and line up, or we'll be in trouble and it will be a long time before we can eat today's food."

"Yes, yes, let's get out of here quickly."

A group of starving refugees, despite their exhaustion, ran desperately toward the hall. Soon the small room was empty, with only a couple and two stray dogs remaining.

Although Junjue was curious about the situation, he wanted to make sure his girlfriend was settled before leaving. He quickly closed the door to the small room, took out a large piece of fruit and cream cake, and handed it to Wan'er, saying:

"Wan'er, they've all gone to line up. Let's eat our fill first while there's no one around, then go out and line up to get our things just to make it look like we're doing something."

"Okay! You should have some too." Wan'er took a big piece of cream and ate it in big bites, her heart filled with happiness.

"You eat first. I'll feed these two little ones first, then we can eat. There are too many people outside, so it won't be quick."

Junjue took out dog food from his spatial storage, filled two dog bowls to the brim, and said to the two little mutts:

"Five black beans, daylily, eat more quickly, otherwise you'll go hungry today when they come back."

"Woof~" Wu Hei Huanghuacai rubbed against the back of her male owner's hand, obediently walked to the dog bowl, and began to eat heartily.

Seeing the two dogs enjoying their food, Junjue took advantage of the moment when no one was around and quickly took out a hamburger, eating it swiftly yet elegantly.

Seeing that Wan'er quickly finished the cake, he smiled and said:

"Wan'er, would you like a hamburger? Or is there anything else you'd like to eat?"

"Eat some meat! Meat will keep you full, otherwise you won't have another chance when they come back." Thinking about not being able to eat for a whole day, Wan'er could only think of eating some filling foods.
