Unbeknownst to Wan'er, who was expressing gratitude to the Imperial Capital Gliding Ridge and the official shelter in Shanghai, she and her lover were currently sleeping peacefully in their tent.

Suddenly awakened by the barking of the dogs next to them, the two opened their eyes and got up. Just as they were about to question the two dogs, they heard a series of screams coming from afar.
Junjue glanced at Wan'er tenderly, frowned and pondered for a few seconds, then said in a cold voice, "Something's wrong! Something must have happened in the distance. With so many screams coming from there, something dangerous must have appeared."
"Should we go over and check it out? It might be a bit dangerous, but it's good to get some practice in terms of reaction time!" Shangguan Wan'er suggested.
Junjue glanced at his watch; it was only around 3 a.m. Seeing his girlfriend's interest, he smiled and replied:
"Alright, let's pack our things quickly and take the two dogs with us!"
"Um!"
"You two little ones have grown quite a bit lately, go and get some exercise! And remember to be careful!"
"Aww~" The five black daylily buds nodded excitedly, rubbed against their mistress's hand, and looked into the distance with great interest. They needed to become strong so that they could protect their mistress.
Shangguan Wan'er got up, put on her shoes, fed the two little ones, and waited for Junjue to finish packing up. Then, she took the two four- or five-month-old puppies and quickly headed towards the direction from which the screams were coming from.
Around 3 a.m., Junjue and Wan'er, the two little dogs, arrived at the gate of the Peaceful Shelter.
They were extremely anxious because the screams coming from the shelter were getting louder and louder, as if something terrible was happening.
Junjue held Wan'er's hand tightly, leading her into the shelter. Sensing his girlfriend's anxiety, he comforted her:
"Wan'er, don't be afraid, I'm here!"
"Okay! Something terrible must have happened inside. I'll try my best to control myself."
Knowing that his girlfriend had just gone through these things and couldn't explain things so quickly, Junjue cautiously led her inside.
"Roar roar roar..."
"Woof woof woof!"
When they entered the hall, a shocking scene unfolded before their eyes. Swarms of white roundworms, covered in a sticky liquid, were ferociously attacking the people in the shelter.
Some roundworms burrow directly into people's bodies and absorb their flesh and blood. Others bite off limbs, causing profuse bleeding.
Even more terrifying, some roundworms tightly wrap around people's arms, twisting them off and causing them to scream in pain.
All the children, however, had become mummies, their bellies mangled and bloody as if they had been blown apart, lying motionless on the ground.
The horrifying sight startled Junjue and Wan'er. Wan'er turned pale and suddenly vomited violently.
Wuhei and Huanghuacai were exploring the shelter with their two owners when they suddenly heard a series of terrified screams.
They immediately rushed over alertly, only to find a group of humans being attacked by mutated roundworms.
Some of these mutated roundworms were over a meter long, while others, having absorbed a lot of flesh and blood, had grown to several meters long and as thick as an arm, with sharp teeth protruding from their mouths and emitting a suffocating, fishy stench.
Wu Hei and Huang Huacai's eyes instantly turned blood red, and their fur stood on end. "Roar roar roar..."
"Woof woof woof..." it roared and pounced on the mutated roundworm.
With their agility and sharp teeth, they began a fierce battle with the mutated roundworms.
"Exercise is a good thing, but you two little ones better watch out!"
"Woof~" The two dogs nodded in agreement upon hearing their owner's words.
Although the daylily is not as tall as the five black worms, it is agile and displays its nimble skills, dodging the attacks of the mutated roundworms and then accurately biting their abdomens, causing them severe damage.
Wuhei was an incredibly strong dog. With its owner feeding it well, it had grown quite a bit. It used its powerful front paws to strike the heads of the mutated roundworms, trying to weaken their attack as much as possible.
The battle between the dog and the roundworms was extremely fierce. The mutated roundworms kept emitting sharp cries, trying to defeat Wu Hei and Huang Huacai.
However, the two little dogs were not afraid; they were protecting their owner with their lives.
Time passed slowly, and the battle inside the shelter intensified. Wu Hei and Huang Huacai were covered in wounds, but they did not back down.
With unwavering will and fearless courage, they wage a tenacious battle against the mutated roundworms.
Despite being exhausted, Wu Hei and Huang Hua Cai continued their relentless attack.
They understood that only by eliminating all these mutated roundworms could humanity be safe. Each bite was filled with frenzied power, and each roar shook the nerves of the mutated roundworms.
"What's going on? This is disgusting!" Wan'er's voice trembled, and fear flickered in her eyes.
Wan'er gripped Junjue's hand tightly, trying to remain calm. She took a deep breath, attempting to compose herself.
"Wan'er, it's alright. After the natural disasters, more mutated creatures will emerge, so you need to learn to accept it as soon as possible."
Look how capable those two little guys are! They're covered in blood, but they're still fighting.
"I know, but it's the first time I've seen such a disgusting thing, and I really can't calm down." Wan'er's voice trembled, but she tried her best to hide her fear.
“Since Wan’er hasn’t accepted it yet, let’s find a safe place to prepare before we start practicing various self-defense techniques. Don’t you want to put your recent skills to good use?” Junjue suggested with a smile.
