Chapter 45

Chapter 45

Mu Yugang knelt down very neatly.

Seeing him kneel so readily, the people from the Mu family behind him also quickly followed suit and knelt down.

Mu Qinhan walked up to Mu Yugang, bent down slightly, and then reached out to touch Mu Yugang's shoulder.

Mu Yugang was so frightened by his action that he trembled, narrowed his eyes, and curled up into a ball.

Unexpectedly, Mu Qinhan simply brushed away a speck of dust from Mu Yugang's shoulder and robe with extremely slow and gentle movements.

He leaned down further and whispered in Mu Yugang's ear, "Do you even know why?"

Mu Yugang nodded vigorously, thinking that he knew and she knew, but at this moment he was so frightened that he could not utter a word.

Mu Qinhan seemed quite satisfied with his reaction. He took the handkerchief handed to him by his attendant, wiped his hands, straightened up, and said, word by word, "If she's alright, that's fine. But if something were to happen to her..."

Just then, Mu Yulu, who was on the bed, suddenly called out Mu Qinhan's name.

Mu Yugang trembled again.

The Mu family members kneeling behind Mu Yugang lowered their heads even further, not daring to look at what was happening.

All of this was truly terrifying.

Mu Yulu actually dared to call Mu Qinhan by his name, and Mu Qinhan not only showed no resentment, but also rushed to the bedside to check on Mu Yulu's condition with great joy.

However, the person in the bed remained trapped in a high-fever nightmare, not yet awake. Her cheeks were flushed red, and fine beads of cold sweat glistened on her forehead. She painfully murmured in her sleep, "No...don't come any closer...go away..."

Mu Qinhan raised his hand and gently touched her forehead. Just as he was about to lean down to check her temperature, he saw her open her eyes in fright.

The moment she saw Mu Qinhan, she sat up abruptly from the bed. Her movements were so sudden that she accidentally bumped the back of her head.

Mu Qinhan, afraid of startling her, spoke in a voice so gentle it seemed to drip with water: "You're awake? How are you feeling now?"

As he spoke, he reached out to help Mu Yulu.

Unexpectedly, a pillow came flying at him and landed squarely on his chest.

"Get away from me! I never want to see you again, let's get a divorce right now!" Mu Yulu screamed hoarsely, not content with smashing one pillow, she picked up the second soft pillow on the bed and threw it hard at Mu Qinhan.

One soft pillow after another bumped against his chest, then slid limply to the floor. Mu Yulu was still not satisfied and continued to rummage through the bed for something to throw at him.

Everyone in the Mu family felt like dying.

Mu Yulu seems to be trying to drag her whole family down with her.

Unexpectedly, Mu Qinhan showed her extraordinary patience. Not only did he not get angry because of her offense, but he also sat down on the edge of the bed with very light movements.

He gently comforted her, "It's me. Don't be afraid. No one will dare to hurt you anymore. I'll stay here with you, okay?"

Mu Yulu continued to wave her arms, vehemently resisting Mu Qinhan's approach: "Get away from me! You're a liar! I won't let you touch me..."

Tears mingled with sweat as they streamed down her face: "I've already told you I didn't mean it. I may not be a good person, but I really didn't want to hurt her. She's carrying your child. I love you so much, how could I possibly hurt her? Why won't you believe me?"

Mu Qinhan's eyes darkened.

He knew that Mu Yulu was once again delirious and unconscious, just like last time, and had started talking nonsense.

Now he was more experienced than last time, and knew that Mu Yulu was as stubborn as a mule in this situation, immersed in her own world, and wouldn't listen to any reasoning. So he simply went along with Mu Yulu's words and continued, "Of course I believe you, I believe whatever you say."

Mu Yulu tilted her head and looked him over carefully, then leaned over the edge of the bed, picked up the pillow from the floor, and slammed it onto Mu Qinhan's chest with a thud: "You're lying. If you believed me, why did you hit me with a cup?"

Mu Qinhan was taken aback. "Who did you say hit you with a cup?"

Mu Yulu cried so hard she could barely breathe, "Look at the scar on my head, isn't that from when you hit me with a cup?"

Mu Qinhan remained silent.

Mu Yugang lowered his head deeply, his forehead almost touching the ground. In that instant, he even thought about how he would die a quick and painless death.

Unexpectedly, Mu Qinhan still tolerated Mu Yulu's unreasonable behavior. He patiently said to Mu Yulu, "How could I possibly lay a hand on you? How could I possibly hit you with a cup?"

Mu Yulu was so angry her voice cracked: "You're not a man at all! You dare to do it but not admit it!"

Then she pursed her lips, her eyes revealing a look of grim determination, and opened her mouth to bite Mu Qinhan's shoulder.

"I'm in so much pain, and you still won't admit it. You might as well just kill me than let me suffer here!"

Mu Qinhan's attendant rushed forward and reached out to pull Mu Yulu away, but Mu Qinhan stopped him with a look.

Mu Yulu bit his shoulder and refused to let go, so he simply stretched out his arm and gently pulled Mu Yulu into his arms with an extremely gentle yet irresistible force.

Mu Yulu certainly struggled, but her struggles seemed fragile and futile in his firm arms.

"Alright, alright... It's okay now. It was my fault. I apologize." Mu Qinhan gently rested his chin on the top of Mu Yulu's head, repeating comforting words over and over: "Don't cry. I'm here. No one can hurt you."

Everyone in the room froze on the spot. Was this still the icy prince Mu Qinhan they knew?

Is this a fake Mu Qinhan?

Mu Qinhan's attendant was very perceptive. As soon as Mu Qinhan embraced Mu Yulu, he decisively turned around and said to the Mu family, "Get out of here quickly. What are you still standing here for?"

This instruction was exactly what Mu Yugang wanted to hear. He had long wanted to leave, so he was the first to turn around and scramble out of the room.

The rest of the people followed closely behind and went out. Mu Qinhan's attendant was the last to leave the room and thoughtfully closed the door behind him.

In an instant, only Mu Qinhan and Mu Yulu remained in the room.

Mu Qinhan held Mu Yulu tightly in his arms, still gently comforting her.

The person in his arms was initially tense, whimpering and resisting, but under Mu Qinhan's patient comforting, she gradually calmed down, her struggles lessened, and her rapid breathing gradually subsided, leaving only intermittent sobs.

Mu Qinhan sensed the change in Mu Yulu's body and then loosened his restraints slightly.

He looked down at the person in his arms and gently stroked her chapped lips: "Are you thirsty? Would you like some water?"

Mu Yulu licked her lips and nodded.

Fortunately, there was still warm water in the room. Mu Qinhan picked up the kettle and poured a cup. With one hand loosely around Mu Yulu, he steadily brought the cup to her lips with the other.

Mu Yulu's consciousness was still somewhat hazy. She instinctively lowered her head to drink water, sipping it in small sips, like a little animal that had finally found shelter.

After drinking her fill of water, Mu Yulu's tense body completely relaxed, and she leaned softly against Mu Qinhan's firm chest, a heavy sense of fatigue washing over her.

She wanted to sleep, but felt she couldn't sleep yet; she had to make everything clear before she could rest.

She raised her hand and grasped Mu Qinhan's collar, struggling to look up at him. "Mu Qinhan, let's get a divorce."

Seeing the strange expression on Mu Qinhan's face, she quickly compromised, "Otherwise, you can divorce me, and we won't get a divorce. You can divorce me even if you want."

She swallowed hard, her voice barely audible, yet carrying a sense of utter despair and resolute determination.

"I really don't want to live like this anymore. I don't want to like you anymore. Don't you hate me too? Then let me leave the manor. Let's part ways and never see each other again... um..."

Before she could finish speaking, Mu Qinhan suddenly leaned down, gripping the back of her neck with one hand and supporting her waist and back with the other, then kissed her fiercely, silencing her unfinished words.

Mu Yulu wanted to hide, but there was no way to avoid it.

This kiss was anything but gentle; it felt more like a punishment.

Punish her for uttering the words "divorce," punish her for losing all hope in him.

Mu Qinhan's icy lips pressed down forcefully, brutally silencing all her unfinished words. He sucked on her breath, lingering and caressing her, as if to crush her retreat and self-abandonment, and all her damned thoughts.

Mu Yulu was stunned by the sudden attack.

Her already weakened body was powerless to resist, and she could only passively endure the storm of plunder. Lack of oxygen and her already hazy consciousness caused her vision to blur, and she could only let out broken sobs, but even these faint sobs were completely swallowed up by him.

He didn't know how much time had passed, maybe a few breaths, maybe even longer, until he felt the person in his arms completely collapse, breathing so rapidly that he was almost suffocating. Only then did Mu Qinhan suddenly wake up from his anger and abruptly pull away.

He raised his head, his chest heaving violently. Although the anger in his eyes had not completely subsided, it was also mixed with some regret for losing control.

Mu Yulu looked shaken. The emotions in her eyes were even more complex than those in Mu Qinhan's eyes. She was helpless and confused, but there was also a hint of surprise and joy. All sorts of emotions suddenly swept over her, almost overwhelming her.

She weakly opened her mouth: "W-what are you doing?"

Mu Qinhan pulled her into his arms again. "I will bring you into the palace in a grand procession. I can give you everything you want."

"Don't say those things again, and don't push me away again. I know you like me, I..."

Saying these mushy words seemed a little difficult for Mu Qinhan, but he still told her all his thoughts word by word: "No matter what misunderstandings we had in the past, we can slowly resolve them in the future. We still have a long time to be together. I will not let go, and I will not let you go."
