Chapter 5

Chapter 5

Thinking about this, Mu Yulu found it amusing. In her previous life, she was jumping around trying to marry Mu Qinhan, and Mu Yugang scolded her for ruining the reputation of the Mu family's young ladies. But when Mu Qinhan, this piece of fat meat, was in front of him, he hurriedly packaged up all his daughters and sent them over.

In her past life, Mu Yulu naturally followed him to the manor, but unfortunately, Mu Qinhan was elusive, and she could only catch a glimpse of her beloved from afar from time to time.

She was incredibly anxious and eager to see him. Sometimes she would stand outside Mu Qinhan's courtyard for an entire day. Even Mu Yugang, who was never one to praise her, couldn't help but admire her. With that kind of perseverance, she could succeed at anything.

Looking back on this embarrassing past, Mu Yulu felt so ashamed that she wanted to bang her head against the wall.

Mu Qinhan, Prince Mu, she, Mu Yulu, no longer cares about them in this lifetime.

Not only did she not care, in this life she regarded Mu Qinhan as a monstrous flood, something she would avoid at all costs.

By staying confined to their rooms, they could avoid all possibilities of encountering their former sweetheart.

Mu Yugang stared at Mu Yulu suspiciously for a long time, trying to glean some clues from her micro-expressions.

But all I saw on her face was a resolute determination to face death.

He seemed to have made up his mind and there was no turning back.

Mu Yugang couldn't quite figure out what she was thinking, so he simply stopped talking, snorted coldly, and left.

Before leaving, he gave orders to the servants guarding outside the courtyard: "The young lady is to be confined to her quarters for a month to reflect on her mistakes. During this month, not only is she not allowed to leave the house, but no one else is allowed to come in to visit her. Anyone who dares to disobey will be punished according to the family rules."

The servants outside the courtyard responded repeatedly, respectfully seeing their master off as they skillfully locked the gate.

Hearing the sound of the courtyard gate being locked, Mu Yulu breathed a sigh of relief. She looked down at Xinyun, who was still kneeling on the ground, and gave her a weary smile: "Xinyun, get up, it's alright now."

Xinyun trembled all over like a leaf.

Just now, after Mu Yulu saw Mu Qinhan at the No. 1 Restaurant in the world, she turned around and ran. Mu Yulu, who had two legs, ran faster than a horse with four legs. Xinyun tried her best to catch up but couldn't catch up. She finally made it back to the Mu residence. Before she could even catch her breath, she heard the news that Mu Yulu and the Third Miss had both fallen into the water.

In an instant, she even decided which mountain to choose for her grave.

Who is the Third Miss Mu Xingzi? She is Master Mu Yugang's precious darling!

Although the master wouldn't punish the young lady for knocking her into the lake, she, as the personal maid, would certainly be punished.

In addition, Mu Yulu has always been a person who cannot tolerate any wrongdoing. She believed that her mistress did not intentionally push the third young lady into the lake, but her master did not believe it. If her mistress had a dispute with Mu Yugang because of this, it would be her, the little maid, who would be punished.

The punishment ranged from caning and whipping to expulsion from the Mu family mansion.

Therefore, when Mu Yulu and Mu Yugang were confronting each other, her heart was in her throat, fearing that Mu Yugang would turn around and attack her in a fit of anger.

Unexpectedly, Mu Yulu compromised so quickly this time.

Despite having been wronged, she no longer tried to seek justice from the master as before. Instead, she asked to be confined to her quarters and stayed quietly in the courtyard. She even stopped clamoring to go to the temple fair.

Xinyun trembled again.

There was a hint of fear in her eyes as she looked at Mu Yulu.

Unlike Mu Yugang, who thought Mu Yulu was possessed by evil spirits after drowning, she suspected that her young mistress had been possessed after attempting suicide by hanging.

After her failed suicide attempt and subsequent fainting spell, Mu Yulu was a completely different person when she woke up.

First of all, it's as if she suddenly developed a brain.

Secondly, she seems to have completely stopped caring about Mu Qinhan.

Even if Xinyun was foolish, she could see that her mistress's actions today had a special purpose. Requesting confinement to appease the master's anger was probably secondary; her real intention was to stay in the mansion, not leave the courtyard, not go to the temple fair, and avoid both Prince Mu and the Third Miss.

What did Mu Yugang say before he left? He said that for the next month, not only was the young lady not allowed to go out, but no one else was allowed to come and visit her either. This "other people" naturally included the third young lady, Mu Xingzi.

Mu Yulu mistakenly wore a suit that the Third Miss had made for the temple fair. Xin Yun had been thinking about this ever since, always afraid that Mu Xingzi would suddenly come to her door and take the opportunity to cause trouble.

Now things are really messed up. The third young lady and her mistress have gone swimming in the lake together, and it's questionable whether they can even attend tonight's temple fair. Besides, compared to something as serious as jumping into the lake, accidentally wearing the wrong clothes is nothing at all.

Miss is already under house arrest. Even if the Third Miss complains to the Master about the clothes, what can she do? At most, she'll be confined for another half month.

Anyway, she saw that her mistress had completely given up on her feelings for Prince Mu, so she decided to keep her confined to her quarters. She had no intention of going out to create any more chance encounters with Prince Mu.

Thinking of this, Xin Yun shuddered again.

This can be described as killing two birds with one stone, and it seems that her young lady may have deliberately knocked the third young lady into the water today.

When did her young lady become so intelligent?

She stared at Mu Yulu in terror for a long time before finally managing to stammer out a sentence: "Who...who are you? Where did you hide my young lady?"

Mu Yulu stared at Xinyun in astonishment for a long time. When she heard Xinyun say that, she was stunned and didn't react for a while.

Then Xinyun mustered her courage and continued, "I... I don't care who you are, get off my young lady right now and give her back!"

Okay, okay.

Mu Yulu gritted her teeth and nodded.

So this girl thinks she's been possessed? Or maybe she thinks she's been possessed by something evil?

She leaned down and gently pulled Xinyun up from the ground by her ear: "Take a good look at me. Who else could I be but your young lady?"

Xinyun stood up while crying out in pain. Looking at Mu Yulu's familiar, fierce expression and hearing her familiar, clenched teeth tone when she was angry, she was absolutely certain that the young lady in front of her was indeed herself.

Having ruled out the possibility that her mistress had been possessed, Xinyun finally breathed a sigh of relief, then burst into tears and threw herself into Mu Yulu's arms: "Miss, you scared me to death! This time your drowning was different from before. I heard you swallowed a lot of water and almost died, waaaaah..."

Mu Yulu's face darkened: "Alright, alright, stop crying. I'm fine now, but I have a terrible headache. Go and make me a bowl of ginger soup so I can sleep better after drinking it."

Xinyun quickly responded and turned to go to the small kitchen in the yard to make ginger soup for Mu Yulu.

After sending Xin Yun away, Mu Yulu sighed, turned her head and looked out the window. She opened her lips and said softly, "Thank you for saving me today, Guardian Feng. I'm fine now, don't worry."

Finally, she added, "Guardian Feng is not on duty here today, so you'd better leave quickly to avoid being scolded by Father."

After a long silence outside the window, Feng Wentang's voice came through: "How did you know I was here, Miss?"

Mu Yulu chuckled softly.

Upon closer listening, her voice was actually quite clear and pleasant, like a mountain spring, which was completely inconsistent with her flamboyant personality: "In just two days, I attempted suicide by hanging once and drowning once. In the eyes of the Feng Guard, I must be determined to kill myself, right?"

Feng Wentang was slightly taken aback by the wind outside the window.

That's true.

His thoughts differed from Mu Yugang's. He didn't think Mu Yulu deliberately dragged the Third Miss into the lake with her. He believed that she had simply bumped into the Third Miss, who was blocking her way, on her way to the lake.

It was an accident, yet it wasn't an accident.

The master forbade her to attend the temple fair and also forbade her to leave the mansion to create a chance encounter with Mu Qinhan, so she was determined to commit suicide.

This is Feng Wentang's thought process.

He felt that his speculation was reasonable.

"You want to stay here and guard me because you're afraid I'll try again if I fail once, and a third time if I fail twice?" Mu Yulu's voice was laced with laughter: "Guardian Feng, you're probably the only person in this manor who genuinely doesn't want me to die."

Feng Wentang was startled again.

Saying such hurtful things, she really did want to commit suicide.

But Mu Yulu continued, "Don't worry, I won't do that again. I will take good care of myself."

Her voice was soft, but her tone was firm, as if she were making a promise to him and to herself.

Feng Wentang remained silent. A moment later, Mu Yulu heard the rustling sound of wind blowing leaves outside the window and knew that he had already left.

With a long sigh of relief, Mu Yulu leaned back on the bed in a starfish position.

In any case, she managed to avoid Mu Qinhan and drank a bowl of ginger soup that Xinyun had made. She went to bed early, intending to rest well and then think carefully about what would happen in the future.

Having been reborn, she discovered that her body seemed to be in poor health and could no longer withstand the kind of reckless torment she had in her previous life.

It seemed that the cold air had entered her body after she fell into the water. By nightfall, she felt cold all over and was shivering. She simply buried herself in the blankets to sweat it out and go to sleep.

As I slept, I felt gusts of cool wind blowing in, chilly and penetrating everywhere. Even when I was tucked in under the covers, I couldn't escape the cold air from the night wind.

Was the window not closed properly?

Mu Yulu opened her eyes unhappily, and the sight of them startled her so much that she almost had a heart attack.

Someone pushed the window open, letting in the bright, white moonlight. There was clearly no one else in the room, yet a figure was clearly reflected in the moonlight.

Mu Yulu was fully awake and sat up with a jolt, ready to scream.

Before she could utter a sound, the dark figure darted over at lightning speed, pinned her back down on the bed, and covered her mouth firmly with its large hand.

Mu Yulu looked at him with great grievance and blinked hard: "My good sir, do you want money or sex? I have no money, but I'll give you sex. We can talk things over, please spare my dog's life."

Strangely, the newcomer seemed to understand the language of Mu Yulu's eyelashes. He slowly released his grip, bent down, and carefully examined her. After a while, he chuckled softly and said, "So it was you."

These words were like a bolt from the blue.

Mu Yulu was fried until she was charred on the outside and tender on the inside, and she was completely disoriented. It took her a while to recover.

She could hear that deep, alluring voice and that noble, aloof tone even if it were reduced to ashes.

The man in black who broke into a respectable young girl's room at night and wrapped himself up like a dumpling was actually Mu Qinhan?!
