Chapter 121 The Gift of Love Brain
One night when Edrien moved to the palace, he saw a pink light coming in from the window. He didn't know how long it stayed outside, but it just hid in the corner of the wall and didn't make any other moves.
The temperature has dropped sharply recently, and as the year draws to a close, light snow is falling in various regions.
Frost climbed along the glass, weaving into a cracked ice network. Adrian looked inside the house for a while, walked to the window and opened the curtain: "Come in."
The pink ball was surrounded by a layer of energy waves. After Colin's love value disappeared, its size shrank by nearly half. However, the energy stored in its system was still sufficient to barely withstand the extreme cold outside.
Adrian opened the window and the pink ball slowly slipped in through the gap.
[…Is it gone?]
The pink ball shook off the frost on its surface, and the sound was as thin as a mosquito.
Adrian was helpless: "It left two days ago."
[You didn't leave me a single word?]
"..." Adrian shook his head, "No."
Pink ball: (*)
Adrian opened his lips and hesitated to speak. He waited for the pink ball to stop sobbing before speaking: "But it once said that love brains need to be selective. I hope this helps you."
[I don’t want to be a love-brain anymore! Wuwu… I, I want to change departments. I want to go to the Department of Great Enlightenment and Ruthlessness. I don’t want to fall in love anymore—]
Pink Ball cried bitterly, and it fell from the air and landed on the desk in front of Adrian. Perhaps because the movement was too large, it accidentally hit the corner of the desk and knocked itself out.
Adrian: “…”
The sobbing stopped abruptly, and the light on the pink ball dimmed. Adrian picked it up and took a look, confirming that it was not completely dead.
Adrian was even more speechless. He put the pink ball in the next room and let it recover on its own as before.
It was already dawn. Adrian looked out the window. It was pitch black, with no moon or stars.
He closed the curtains and went back to his room.
Morris had more things to deal with after he was promoted to admiral, but they were still within his control. Considering the complicated procedures for moving into the palace, Morris took a leave from the military and stayed in the villa for the past few days.
When Adrian returned to the room, Morris had already fallen asleep on the bed. He had always been easily tired these days. Adrian approached the bed and saw that the light was lowered, casting a little shadow on Morris's nose.
Edley watched quietly for a while, then threw back the quilt and lay down beside Morris. He hugged Morris' waist and buried his head in Morris' neck.
With a soft sound, the night light next to me was turned off. The remaining soft orange light disappeared into the air, and the surroundings were engulfed in darkness.
Morris seemed to sense something. His brows furrowed and he subconsciously hugged the warm body in his arms tightly.
"Get out."
"I don't need it."
"What are you pretending to be?"
Morris seemed to be walking in an unclear fog. Those illusory and complex scenes quickly passed by his eyes, piecing together another scene that was completely different from the current one.
It was him and Adrian, but not entirely.
Adrian in these scenes is completely different from the current one. He is sitting on the sofa in the villa, with a gloomy face, looking coldly in the direction of Morris.
Morris had never seen such a look in his eyes before, his blue eyes were filled with undisguised annoyance and disgust. He thought it was too much to talk to Morris, and most of the time he stayed alone in the room with the door locked.
Morris was turned away by him.
He turned to look at another female insect that looked the same as him. This female insect was standing outside the door smoking. She was missing an eye, and the remaining purple eye was staring at the door motionlessly, with a face that was extremely vicious and ferocious.
Morris stared at him and soon tried to snatch the cigarette from his hand. Unexpectedly, the female insect got there first, so he crushed the cigarette butt himself and turned around to walk downstairs.
Morris and Adrian in these scenes seem to have different faces. Adrian is mercenary and Morris is tyrannical.
In some scenes, they even bite each other as if to vent their anger.
Adrien was a male insect and was not as strong as Morris, but he had sharp teeth and often bit Morris to pieces. Morris was not used to him either, and two bites would make Adrien bleed profusely.
Morris watched from outside the scene. His breath stopped for a moment and he felt the chill piercing his bones.
How could they... be like this?
The scene before him faded away, and as Morris continued walking inside, he saw other fragments of the scene.
The same dynastic war that broke out a few years ago broke out here, with different camps, but the same result - Adrien won a great victory.
Morris stood beside Edrien. He thought that the male insect would be overjoyed that his wish had come true. However, when he stood beside Edrien, he saw that he stood there expressionless, without any emotion.
In his hands he held the iron box which contained Morris's head.
The moment Morris saw his head, he felt as if he was in winter. He was surrounded by charging warriors and stood in the middle of the battlefield. There were artillery fire everywhere, and his mental power pierced his wings and thighs. He raised his head, and a cold light flashed in front of his eyes, and his head and body separated.
Morris' body couldn't help but tremble slightly, his pupils erected, and he spread his wings towards the female soldier who was flying towards him, making a ferocious attacking gesture.
Those illusory scenes were shattered by Morris's mental attack. It was completely dark all around, and Morris subconsciously turned around and ran back to where he had just come from.
"Your Majesty, Your Majesty... Let's run away quickly. The defenses around the palace have been breached, and Prince Sean has already entered... We still have a chance to escape through the secret passage..."
Morris paused in his escape, froze for a few seconds, and turned his head stiffly.
Inside, the scene changed again. The stone pillars in the palace collapsed, and the surroundings were in chaos. From time to time, the female insects serving could be seen hurriedly packing up their bags and running away.
Edrien sat on the throne in the center of the hall. He seemed oblivious to all this. He just wore an ill-fitting robe and slowly cut the fruit cake on the table with a knife.
Seeing that Edrien was unmoved, the female insect who was trying to persuade him packed up her things and fled from the palace after a few seconds of hesitation.
The entire palace was soon empty. All the male and female insects fled in the chaos, leaving only Edrien inside.
Morris stopped walking, turned back without thinking, and walked quickly to Edrien's side.
"Why are you eating at this time? They've all run away! There's a secret passage downstairs, hurry up!" Morris' face frowned, and he stretched out his hand to grab Edrian's sleeve, but his palm passed through Edrian's body, and in the end he only grasped a piece of air.
Morris paused slightly, his purple pupils froze for a few seconds before moving again, only then did he realize that it was all just an illusion.
It took Edrian nearly five minutes to finally cut the cake into the size he was satisfied with. Morris was furious, and he couldn't catch Edrian. In the end, he could only sit beside Edrian in frustration and stare at him eating.
Outside, there were gunfire and burning smells everywhere. Amid the dust and strange smell, Adrian chewed the cake in his mouth. The fruit and cream were mixed together. He stuffed all of them into his mouth slowly and without method.
Morris sat down next to Adrian and then stood up again. His Adam's apple rolled and his eyes inadvertently glanced at Adrian's collar.
The ill-fitting robe was woven with military totems in gold thread, and Morris looked closer to make out the Rehirobia crest at Edrian's collar.
These are his clothes.
Morris's mind went blank for a moment. His eye sockets were dry and even painful, and his pupils stared forward. Adrian had already eaten nearly half of the fruit cake. He held the knife and fork and continued to cut into the cake.
"Don't eat..." Morris flipped the long table, his eyes red, and repeated in a strong tone, "Don't eat!"
All his actions passed through these scenes without producing any substantial effect.
Adrian paused, as if he had heard what Morris said, and finally stopped.
Female soldiers had already broken into the palace. Adrien took two pieces of paper and wiped the cream and cake crumbs from the corners of his mouth and hands.
"It's boring." Adrian stood up and walked slowly down the stone steps of the hall, blood oozing from his mouth and nose.
When the poison takes effect, the venom will severely damage the insect's senses. Adrian's vision became blurred, his steps became unsteady, and he fell down the stairs after only two steps.
Morris stood beside the throne, his limbs stiff, staring down blankly. Edrien lay curled up below, blood oozing from his features, his sleeves covering his mouth and nose as his body twitched.
"pain……"
Morris then saw Edrien's face clearly. He was extremely pale and thin. The time since he ascended the throne had worn him down into this state.
The light in Edrian's green eyes dimmed. He took a strong and fast-acting poison and died within a minute.
"No……"
Morris walked down the stairs. There was a pool of blood on the side of Edrian's face. He looked down with his eyes lowered, as if he was looking at something that no longer existed.
He is dead.
"No!"
Edric suddenly felt a sharp pain on his back. He woke up and turned on the night light next to him. He heard Morris' heavy breathing.
Morris's black hair was mixed with sweat and stuck to his forehead. His eyes were wet and he looked at Adrian hesitantly.
"Morris, what's wrong?" Adrian approached Morris. Just as he was about to wipe the sweat off Morris' face, he saw Morris frowning and suddenly moving away from him and backing away.
He looked at Edrien, his eyes filled with a mixture of viciousness and pain.
Adrian's arm froze in the air. He withdrew his hand and continued to ask, "Are you having a nightmare?"
Morris didn't answer. He lowered his head and grabbed the bedclothes tightly, using so much force that his fingertips turned white.
Adrian moved closer during the silent minutes. He slowly hugged Morris from the side and felt the tense muscle contours on Morris' body.
"Morris, don't be afraid, I'm here." Adrian slowly stroked Morris' back. His shirt was already soaked, and he looked uneasy.
Adrian looked at Morris, who unconsciously covered his neck with one hand, making a defensive gesture. Adrian was stunned by this, and he kissed the corner of Morris's eyes and whispered to comfort him: "Dreams are all fake."
Morris gradually relaxed under Edrian's comfort, and the thin lips that touched the corner of his eyes felt slightly cool from time to time. He closed his eyes and raised his face, carefully smelling the pheromones on Edrian's body.
After being quiet for about ten seconds, Morris opened his eyes. Without warning, he turned over and pressed Edrian under him.
Adrian did not resist. He hugged Morris's neck and felt Morris pinching his chin: "Open."
Adrian hummed and obediently opened his lips. Morris lowered his head and inserted his hot red tongue into his mouth. They entangled again in the increasingly intense temperature.
They had switched positions at some point, and Adrian continued to ask during their break: "Did you have a nightmare? What did you dream about?"
His green eyes flickered and his eyelashes trembled slightly, which was an obvious test.
Morris bit Edrien's collarbone in frustration and said, "I dreamed that you and I were arguing, and you couldn't get over it, so you poisoned yourself to death."
Edrian was stunned. Morris licked the blood that flowed from Edrian's collarbone. His hot breath was all over Edrian's fair and fragile skin.
"How could you do such a thing?"
Adrian felt a little pain from his bite. He gathered his thoughts and turned the tables without thinking: "Dreams are born from the mind. You must have been thinking bad things about me often, which is why you had this dream."
Adrian said, then he bit Morris's collarbone and said, "You're wrong too!"
"Ha..." Morris was so angry at Edrien that he was speechless. He suppressed his anger and asked slowly, "My Lord, I was wrong, and you were wrong too. What should we do?"
Adrian's Adam's apple rolled.
Morris unbuttoned his own shirt, exposing his chest. He then tugged at Adrian's collar, and with little effort he tossed his shirt off the bed as well.
"We punish each other."
…
The pink ball rested in Adrian's villa for two days. On the day Adrian moved to the palace, the pink ball also recovered most of the energy in the sphere.
To thank Adrian for taking it in, Pink Ball gave Adrian a so-called declaration of love.
【Love is being honest with each other.】
Adrian: “…”
He placed the note between the white paper and stuffed them both into a locked drawer.
