Chapter 127 The Queen
Shen Yu was wiping the dust off a jade bottle in the outer hall. He couldn't tell what the jade bottle was made of, but he took the opportunity to walk around the outer hall to get a clear idea of the space layout inside.
The palace maid in the inner hall came out in a hurry. She found Shen Yu and asked him to go in quickly to serve her.
"Her Majesty is in a bad mood, please be careful." After the palace maid said this, she quickly walked past Shen Yu.
Shen Yu watched her disappearing from the back. He went outside to rinse his hands with clean water, wiped them dry, and then walked into the inner hall.
In the inner hall, the small bottles of rouge and powder were scattered all over the floor. It was already daytime, but the windows and doors of the entire inner hall were still closed. A white candle was lit and placed beside it. The candlelight was bright, and the reflection of Wen Yu's face was even more uncertain.
Shen Yu lowered his head, saluted to Wen Yu and said, "Your Majesty."
Wen Yu was still wearing the white clothes. He sat in front of the dressing table with his back to Shen Yu, motionless. The half golden mask in the bronze mirror seemed to split his face in half, making him look half human, half beast.
"Can you comb your hair?" Wen Yu looked at Shen Yu through the mirror.
Shen Yu said, "My lady, I know how to do it."
"Okay, comb my hair for me." Wen Yu smiled slightly. His emotions were fluctuating. His eyes were slightly curved, but the smile was not in his eyes. "If you can't comb my hair well, I'll chop off your hand."
Shen Yu: “…”
"Yes." Shen Yu picked up the wooden comb, stood behind Wen Yu, and slowly ran his hand through his black hair that had already grown to his waist.
Wen Yu's black hair was thick and seemed to be naturally soft and not rough. Shen Yu combed his hair down along the curve of his long hair, occasionally touching a few tangles formed by his sleeping.
Shen Yu combed his hair twice but failed to uncomb it, and secretly glanced at Wen Yu's face. Wen Yu sat on the wooden chair without moving, and from time to time he glanced at Shen Yu through the mirror, but there was no sign of anger for the time being.
Shen Yu combed Wen Yu's hair twice according to the procedure and then grabbed the tangled hair. A blade slid out from his wrist, and he quickly cut off the strands of hair and put them into his palm.
Wen Yu seemed to realize something. He frowned and looked behind him, his eyes passing over Shen Yu's face.
Shen Yu remained calm: "My Lady, what's wrong?"
Wen Yu stared at him for a few seconds and then turned back. He asked, "What did you say your name was yesterday?"
"My lady, my name is Danqing."
"Sixteen?"
Shen Yu nodded and said, "Yes."
Wen Yu sneered for no apparent reason: "Grown and strong."
Shen Yu: “…”
Wen Yu was still unwilling to give up after he finished speaking. He turned the bronze mirror and pointed his pale finger at Shen Yu's figure in the center of the mirror.
"With your body shape, you must be taller than me, right? I didn't notice you when you were kneeling yesterday, but you are standing behind me today, which makes you stand out from the crowd."
Shen Yu smiled and said, "My Lady, this is natural. My sisters are all like this, and they are taller than me."
Wen Yu was a little hesitant. He stared at the mirror, curled the corners of his lips and stopped talking.
The bronze mirror was still facing Shen Yu, reflecting Shen Yu's figure. Wen Yu's fingers changed the angle of the mirror from time to time, and her line of sight wandered left and right in the mirror.
Shen Yu's expression remained the same. There were pills in the studio that could change one's body shape, but they could easily cause bruises. He was not going to sacrifice his entire body for this mission.
No matter how suspicious Wen Yu was, as long as he didn't strip Shen Yu naked, Shen Yu would always have an excuse to hide.
"Who gave you the name Danqing?" Shen Yu had already combed Wen Yu's long hair, which was still hanging loose behind her. Wen Yu had no intention of putting her black hair up.
Wen Yu looked at the mirror for a long time but couldn't find anything wrong.
Shen Yu stuffed the tufts of black hair in his palm into his sleeves. He lowered his head and said calmly, "My queen, I entered the palace at a young age, and this name was given to me by Nanny Li at that time."
"Danqing..." Wen Yu half turned her body to look at Shen Yu, and Shen Yu's hands were clenched properly on his abdomen.
Wen Yu lowered her eyes and easily saw the black line on Shen Yu's thumb.
The haze in Wen Yu's eyes accumulated. He threw the comb aside and said with a smile: "Danqing is too plain. This name doesn't suit you."
Shen Yu raised his eyes and looked at Wen Yu, who also stood up at this time. He said to himself: "You are young, have a dignified appearance, and serve in my palace, so you should be given a more majestic name."
"As quiet as a delicate flower reflecting on the water, as bright as floating algae emerging from the green waves." Wen Yu pinched Shen Yu's chin, and he thought, "I'll just call you... Cuihua."
Shen Yu: “…”
Wen Yu saw that Shen Yu didn't respond, and suddenly looked unhappy: "Why, you don't like it?"
"..." Shen Yu knelt down and thanked her, "Thank you for the honor, Madam. I like it very much."
"That's good." Wen Yu took his hand back, put on his coat, and said, "Pack the things inside, and then go out with me for breakfast."
He finished speaking and without waiting for Shen Yu to move, he went to the bed room to put on his shoes and socks.
Shen Yu bent down to pick up the scattered red porcelains containing rouge and powder. Some of these porcelains had been broken, and the rouge inside had spilled all over the floor. Wen Yu didn't care about it and just asked Shen Yu to sweep them all up and throw them out of the hall.
Shen Yu put the remaining intact jade bottles into the drawer. When he came back after finishing everything, he found that Wen Yu had just put on one of her socks.
Shen Yu: “…”
Wen Yu seemed to be paralyzed. He held his socks with trembling hands, and sat beside the bed. He frowned and spent a long time trying to put the socks on half of his foot.
Shen Yu was silent beside him. Cold sweat broke out on Wen Yu's forehead. He clenched the bed sheet under him, and the anger in his eyes rose again: "...Get out."
Shen Yu stood at the door without moving, pretending not to hear anything. He walked forward and said, "Madam, your socks are dirty. I can change a pair for you."
Wen Yu's face was gloomy: "I told you to get out."
Shen Yu said nothing. He knelt in front of Wen Yu, his eyes silently passing over the toes of Wen Yu's left foot which was slowly curling up.
Wen Yu didn't expect this maid to be so bold. His voice suddenly changed, and it was filled with viciousness: "Get out! I will only say this for the last time, otherwise I will have someone chop you into pieces..."
Before he could finish his words, his whole body froze. The words he had not yet uttered were blocked by the unexpected touch and were swallowed down by Wen Yu.
Wen Yu's eyelashes trembled. He lowered his eyes and saw that Shen Yu had already grasped his ankle without him noticing.
Shen Yu didn't use much strength in his hands, just lightly grasped the edge of Wen Yu's ankle.
He lifted a corner of Wen Yu's trousers and looked up, only to see several red marks on the inner side of Wen Yu's calf, winding down and spreading all the way to the heel. The skin behind his foot was almost completely cracked, and even though the wound was sutured later, the medication was not used well, resulting in red and purple scars all over the place.
No wonder he couldn't put on his shoes and socks. With such severed tendons and veins, Wen Yu might not even be able to walk normally.
