Chapter 18: Moaning
Pei Du squatted in front of Sheng Shixian with his cell phone in hand. Sheng Shixian's body twitching had slowed down, but his lips were still bloodless.
There was a thick layer of sweat on his forehead, his eyes were slightly closed, and his face looked painful as if he was enduring it with great difficulty. "It hurts..."
"Where does it hurt?" Pei Du quickly helped him up. Sheng Shixian's breathing was shallow and his body was covered with sweat.
"Stomach..." Sheng Shi's voice was as thin as a mosquito's.
"I'll help you to the bathroom. Do you want to vomit?" Pei Du held Sheng Shixian's arm. He guessed that the toxin in the rose still had an effect on Sheng Shixian. He had been sleeping downstairs for the past two days, and perhaps he had inhaled the poison without realizing it.
Sheng Shixian took advantage of the situation and buried his face in Pei Du's chest. He sniffed the scent of Pei Du, which was familiar yet a little strange.
Sheng Shixian lowered his eyes, pressed his lips against Pei Du's skin through a layer of cloth, and continued in a low voice: "It hurts..."
Pei Du frowned, he touched Sheng Shixian's wet arm, and found that his chest was also soaked. Pei Du then touched his shirt on the back... unexpectedly dry.
Pei Du was stunned. He quietly touched Sheng Shixian's back and found that except for the front part which was soaked with sweat, the back was not affected at all.
Pei Du: “…”
Someone spilled a large amount of water in the cup on the table.
Pei Du looked down in the light of the lamp and saw that Sheng Shixian was still wearing his pants as usual. He fell off the sofa and knew to take care of his injured right leg. He deliberately put a blanket under his right leg to prevent his injury from getting worse.
"It hurts..." Sheng Shixian was still moaning without any reason.
"Sheng Shixian, you have appendicitis." Pei Du's strength did not diminish, his expression did not change, and he helped Sheng Shixian stand up, "I'll make an appointment for you to have your appendix cut off tomorrow."
Sheng Shixian froze in place: "..."
Pei Du glanced at him indifferently: "It's just a minor operation. It won't hurt. You'll be fine once you close your eyes."
Sheng Shixian took two steps and suddenly felt exhausted. He sat back on the sofa, his hand stiffened for a few seconds before moving away from his abdomen and placing it aside.
Sheng Shixian: “…No need.”
Pei Du stood in front of him. Seeing this, he smiled and said, "Why don't you feel pain?"
Sheng Shixian lowered his head, his hair still wet, and his voice was dry: "It doesn't hurt."
"You have to think about it carefully. I'm doing this for your own good." Pei Du leaned against the table, his eyes fixed on Sheng Shixian's lower abdomen as if they were physical. "It really doesn't hurt."
"No." Sheng Shixian wrapped himself in a quilt, and lay on the sofa with his back to Pei Du, staring ahead with gloomy and ambiguous eyes.
He couldn't help but scratch the surface of the leather sofa with his fingers under the quilt, and strange "hissing" sounds emerged intermittently.
Pei Du was speechless for a moment. He lifted a corner of Sheng Shixian's quilt and said to him, "I'll change you into some dry clothes. You can sleep upstairs with me tonight. How about that?"
Sheng Shixian stopped destroying the sofa for a moment. He hesitated for a moment and turned over, his face uncertain and alert.
"Whether you want to or not, just sleep downstairs." Pei Du asked.
Sheng Shi stared at Pei Du enviously for a while, then slowly climbed up from the sofa.
You should have said no earlier instead of making him waste his time.
Sheng Shixian grabbed Pei Du's arm. He controlled the distance and did not move any closer. He moved forward swiftly and neatly using his other hand to support himself with a crutch.
There were at least twenty or thirty stairs from the first floor to the second floor. Sheng Shixian's right leg was injured and it was inconvenient for him to walk, so he walked slowly along the way, holding on to the handrail.
Pei Du asked him on the road: "You don't need me to carry you"
"No." Sheng Shixian rejected the question decisively. He leaned on a cane and walked up step by step by himself.
Only he himself could feel the growth of his flesh and blood. Every step was torture, but every step of activity was accumulating energy for his recovery.
Sheng Shixian glanced at Pei Du from the corner of his eye. Pei Du walked carelessly and slowly. He always lagged behind Sheng Shixian by one or two steps to prevent Sheng Shixian from walking unsteadily and rolling down from above.
Sheng Shixian withdrew his gaze and wanted to walk in front.
Pei Du followed Sheng Shixian. He had nothing to do so he recorded the time it took Sheng Shixian to walk up the stairs. It was eighteen minutes and forty-six seconds, less than twenty minutes.
Sheng Shixian thought that it took him more than fifteen minutes to walk from the sofa to the bathroom before, but now he can climb the stairs faster.
Pei Du marked the walking time thoughtfully.
Pei Du's room was at the back of the second floor. After his parents passed away, he was the only one living in the villa.
Pei Du mostly lived in the laboratory when he was in school. He moved in here after he fell ill. The house was empty and he was too lazy to even hire a bodyguard or a nanny. He just installed a dozen cameras in the house.
Even so, someone could tamper with his house.
Pei Du took out the key and opened the door. He turned on the light in the room and walked in with the other crutch that Sheng Shixian had thrown away.
Sheng Shixian paused for a few seconds before entering the room. He limped inside, his black eyes intentionally scanning the scene inside the house.
Pei Du's room was very simple, without any special decorations. There was a desk, two chairs, and a bed. A laptop was placed on the desk, and a glass of cool water was standing next to it.
Sheng Shixian stayed in there for nearly four or five minutes. He looked up at the light on the roof. The bright white light was so dazzling that it seemed like there were double images.
Sheng Shixian frowned slightly, without saying a word, he suddenly turned around and walked out the door with his crutches.
Pei Du turned around when he heard the voice and asked, "What's wrong?"
Sheng Shixian had already retreated to the door. He covered his mouth and nose and said in a muffled voice: "Stinky."
Pei Du: “…what?”
Sheng Shixian stepped back a distance and said emphatically, "Stinky, come out."
At a certain moment, Pei Du understood what Sheng Shixian meant. Sheng Shixian had an extraordinary sense of smell. In his room... there might be something similar to the bouquet of roses below.
There is even one in his room.
Pei Du blinked. He would lock his room every time before going out. The cameras in the corridor, hall and even inside the house were all turned on. Pei Du had never seen a stranger enter his room.
There are no strangers...
That means we are acquaintances.
Pei Du's Adam's apple rolled, and he organized his thoughts in a short time without letting his emotions show.
"It's okay, go to another room." Pei Du took out all the documents and books in the house, closed the door, and went to another room not far from his room.
This room looked like it hadn't been used for a long time, and there was a thin layer of dust on the surface of the door. The door lock was also different from the other rooms, old and rusty, and Pei Duguang had to spend a lot of effort to open it with the key.
Sheng Shixian stood at the door. The door was ajar, and he saw the vague outline of something in the light that came in.
