Chapter 22 Rustling Sound
Several hours had passed and it was three or four in the morning.
Pei Du wrapped himself in a quilt. Before going to sleep, he moved his body to the wall, lay on his side and closed his eyes.
The house was completely silent, with few sounds of movement. The faint sound of breathing rose and fell, slowly fading away, and finally blending into the air.
Pei Du's head was dizzy, he was a light sleeper and was easily awakened. Only in this relatively quiet atmosphere could he fall into a deep sleep.
"rustle--"
A sound like a crawling insect scratching the wall quietly rose in the room. It paused for more than ten seconds, as if it was testing whether it was safe or not. The sound that reached my ears was extremely persistent and continued, and only after confirming the answer would it continue to rustle.
Pei Du silently opened his eyes.
He slept for only about half an hour, and at some point he turned over and changed direction, with his back to the wall and facing forward.
Sheng Shi was jealous of this restless man who was plotting something bad again.
Pei Du couldn't see the specific expression on his face. He could only see Sheng Shixian's figure in the darkness with the faint light coming in from outside.
It was blurry, and one could only make out the outlines. Sheng Shixian carefully slowed down his movements, and even did not let the iron chain on his hand make any sound during the entire process of approaching.
But Pei Du had already designed the length of the iron chain on his wrist. After Sheng Shixian moved forward for a distance, his fingers only touched the edge of Pei Du's bed.
Pei Du lay on the bed without moving. He looked silently at the dark shadow swaying at the head of his bed and clutched the quilt tightly.
Sheng Shixian was still trying. His right leg was injured and he couldn't move it, so he had to rely on his other leg to push forward. But the iron chain at his wrist was too secure. Sheng Shixian stretched out his hand several times, and the best he could do was just grab the edge of Pei Du's bed with his fingernails.
Damn it, I can't even touch him.
Sheng Shixian had an ugly look on his face. He kept his posture still and carefully controlled the distance between the iron chains in his hands to prevent them from colliding and making noises.
Pei Du was very alert and woke up easily. Sheng Shixian paused like a sculpture for a few minutes, then suddenly changed his mind and hooked the bed sheet with his nails.
Pei Du felt the bed sheet twitching beneath him. Without saying anything, he grabbed the sheet with his hands inside the quilt.
Sheng Shixian wanted to pull the bed sheet over a little bit, so that Pei Du would move closer to him. He slowly rolled up the edge of the bed sheet and found that the pattern of the bed sheet did not move.
Sheng Shi frowned with envy, and he pulled back with more force. Pei Du grabbed the bed sheet from under the quilt, and also secretly increased his strength.
Sheng Shixian had not yet lost control. He was intentionally calculating the strength of his hands. After pulling for several times without success, he suddenly realized that something was wrong.
Pei Du was still lying there. Sheng Shixian stared at Pei Du's sleeping figure. He didn't move from beginning to end, as if he had not woken up yet.
Sheng Shixian withdrew his hand, his black pupils fixed on the front, without making a sound or saying a word, just silent.
After a few minutes, Sheng Shixian turned around and lay back down on the floor. He pulled up the quilt, turned his face to the side and closed his eyes, just like the posture and appearance when he first fell asleep.
The rustling sound lasted for a while and finally stopped in the air.
Pei Du had cold sweat on his palms. He watched the figure fall down and never get up again, and then he slowly relaxed.
It seemed necessary for him to look at other iron locks.
*
Pei Du did not sleep all night.
He was a light sleeper to begin with, and Sheng Shixian's actions made it even more difficult for him to fall asleep.
Sheng Shixian went back to sleep on the floor and never got up again. Pei Du listened to his breathing, which he tried to cover up, in the dark and guessed that it was a long time before he fell asleep.
When the alarm rang at seven in the morning, Pei Du's brain nerves were still aching.
He has an experiment to do today and has made an appointment with the director for work time.
Sheng Shixian woke up when he heard the alarm bell. He opened his eyes, his hair was unkempt and unkempt, still messy, and there was still a hint of sleepiness in the corners of his eyes.
Pei Du was getting dressed nearby. He glanced at Sheng Shixian, who was half-sitting against the wall, looking vaguely at Pei Du.
"How did you sleep last night?" Pei Du asked casually.
Sheng Shixian's voice was hoarse because he woke up early, and he said slowly to Pei Du: "Comfortable."
Which means we'll have to sleep together next.
"Really? I didn't sleep very well." Pei Du stood up and said as he changed his clothes, "I dreamt of a ghost crawling on my bed last night. I was so scared that I didn't dare to move."
Sheng Shi was jealous: “…”
Pei Du looked at him and asked: "Did you have a nightmare?"
Sheng Shixian turned his gaze away and said, "No."
"Okay." Pei Du didn't ask any further questions.
Sheng Shixian couldn't say much now, so Pei Du just gave him a warning - although Pei Du thought his warning was useless, Sheng Shixian had already mastered the skills of saying one thing on the surface and another behind the scenes.
Sheng Shixian remained silent. He picked up the crutch that he used to support his body, and when Pei Du passed by, he stretched out his hand again: "Help me."
Pei Du: “…”
Pei Du stood still, Sheng Shixian held the cane tightly in his hand and said nothing. The two of them were in a stalemate for a few seconds, and Pei Du finally stepped forward and extended his hand.
"Qi Sheng said that your wounds are healing quickly and you will be able to walk on your own in a while." Pei Du walked downstairs. He looked at the empty table downstairs and said a few words to Sheng Shixian.
Sheng Shixian found it difficult to walk, so he grabbed Pei Du's arm and said, "You can't walk."
"It will be a few days later. Of course you can't leave now." Pei Du's arm was hurt by Sheng Shixian's grab. He looked at the sharp long nails on Sheng Shixian's hands. Because they had not been repaired for a long time, there were cracks on them.
Sheng Shixian used these nails to scratch the edge of his bed last night, making a rustling sound. Pei Du silently withdrew his gaze, and he hesitated whether to cut Sheng Shixian's nails as well.
Mutants that can be infected with the virus are particularly careful about their bodies, and their nails are considered part of their bodies. Unless they fall off naturally, any loss caused by outside intervention is considered malicious damage.
Pei Du was speechless for a moment and simply shifted his gaze.
After hearing what Pei Du said, Sheng Shixian didn't say anything. After going downstairs, he went to the bathroom to wash up and then had a simple breakfast.
Pei Du was waiting on the side. After Sheng Shixian solved the basic problems, Pei Du stretched the handcuffs on his hands and fixed them to the side.
This time Pei Du moved the location and extended the distance of the iron chain so that Sheng Shixian could go to the bathroom to solve the problem by himself.
"Game" Sheng Shixian sat on the bench, he looked at the iron chain on his wrist and asked.
