Chapter 220: Inside the Closet
His change of mind about Cheng Jingyi happened in just one night, and there was no difference between Cheng Jingyi and the other zombies.
Since he won't make a choice, Shen Yisui won't waste any more energy on him.
Although Shen Yisui didn't have many friends in the East District, all his old things were left there, and there was no need for him to endure in this zombie base any longer.
He found the game boring and uninteresting and it was time to end it early.
Shen Yisui planned everything for his departure the next day. Cheng Jingyi would not keep an eye on him all the time. As long as Shen Heng got into trouble, Cheng Jingyi would always find time to leave.
That was the best time for Shen Yisui to escape.
Shen Yisui had found out the news in advance. He knew the day Shen Heng would come to see Cheng Jingyi, so he chose that day to make his request to Cheng Jingyi.
Although Cheng Jingyi hesitated, he finally agreed to Shen Yisui. Shen Yisui took the key and took advantage of the fact that no one was watching to escape from the base camp through a shortcut.
The police officers in the East District had already secretly contacted Shen Yisui. Shen Yisui continued to move forward based on the information they provided and was out of the West District within half an hour.
And after that... he was shot and fell off a cliff.
Shen Yisui frowned silently in the closet. He had never thought about the events of his death before, but now that he thought about it again, he vaguely grasped some clues.
These people had been lying in ambush outside, waiting for Shen Yisui to come out, and they would shoot him immediately. Before, Shen Yisui had stayed in the West District and had not left, so these people had not been able to find a chance to attack him.
Until Shen Yisui escaped from inside and appeared in their ambush circle.
No wonder Shen Heng hated him so much in the book, but did not attack him in the zombie base, but only spoke ill of Shen Yisui.
He knew the situation was against him.
So Shen Heng changed his approach. Whether he was provoking Shen Yisui in front of him or using Cheng Jingyi to put pressure on Shen Yisui, his purpose was only one - he was forcing Shen Yisui to leave the West District.
As long as Shen Yisui leaves the West District, Shen Heng's armed forces in the East District can immediately carry out the shooting.
Shen Yisui sneered. He really had underestimated Shen Heng. He had spent so much effort to plot against him. Shen Heng really hated him to the core.
Unfortunately, Shen Yisui is no longer the original “Shen Yisui”, and Shen Heng has always taken revenge on the wrong person.
Now that he saw that Shen Yisui was not dead, Shen Heng came looking for him again.
The purpose is self-evident - he wants to kill Shen Yisui again.
Shen Yisui leaned against the door of the closet. He thought about the things that had happened in the past and felt confused. He didn't know what to choose.
If it was just Shen Heng, it would be easy for Shen Yisui to deal with him. But with the addition of another system... Shen Yisui estimated the fighting power of both sides and found that he had no chance of winning.
Unless you can survive by just trying to get hard.
But this system of survival has been struggling from the very beginning. It is better to rely on yourself than on it.
Shen Yisui sighed secretly. He sat in the closet with his knees hugged. In the empty darkness around him, he could vaguely hear the sound of footsteps outside.
"...Shen Yisui?"
The voice that called him was deliberately lowered a little, as if it was intentionally concealed. Shen Yisui recognized Cheng Jingyi's voice. He was sitting in the closet and did not move when he heard the voice.
The door clicked, and Cheng Jingyi seemed to have used something to hold the door shut. Then there were the sounds of several quick steps, and the window was opened, with the sound of cold wind blowing in.
"Fuck." Cheng Jingyi cursed.
There was no sound after that. Shen Yisui frowned, guessing that Cheng Jingyi was going to use spatial perception to find his location, and immediately kicked the closet door.
There was silence outside for a few minutes. Shen Yisui sat inside. He waited for a while and was about to push the door open to go out. When he stood up, he suddenly felt the door of the closet being opened from the outside.
"Shen Yisui." Cheng Jingyi's voice fell from above Shen Yisui's head.
"..." Shen Yisui withdrew his hand, leaned against the door, and asked calmly, "What are you doing?"
"I was about to ask you what you are doing. Why are you hiding in here?" Cheng Jingyi reached out and grabbed Shen Yisui's arm. "It's dirty in here. Come out."
Shen Yisui didn't move. He grabbed the handle inside the closet, silently rejecting Cheng Jingyi's action.
Cheng Jingyi tried to pull Shen Yisui out several times but failed. He stood outside the closet door and saw that the closet was shrouded in darkness. Most of Shen Yisui's face was buried in it, and his expression and demeanor could not be seen clearly.
"Are you coming out or not?" Cheng Jingyi's voice dropped.
Shen Yisui pulled his hand back: "No."
"Okay." Cheng Jingyi let go of his hand. He took a step forward, pressed his legs on Shen Yisui's clothes and squeezed in. "If you don't come out, I'll go in."
Shen Yisui was pushed back quite a bit by the bodies pressing on him. He tilted his head and subconsciously grabbed Cheng Jingyi's clothes on his chest: "Get out, this place is too small, there's no room for both of us."
Cheng Jingyi pretended not to hear anything. He didn't care about the size of the space inside the closet at all. He pressed his long legs on Shen Yisui's waist and abdomen, and after entering, he closed the closet door.
“…”
Cheng Jingyi was tall and of large build. When he first came in, he seemed as heavy as a mountain pressing down on Shen Yisui's body.
Shen Yisui was silent for a moment, feeling a dull pain in his limbs from being pressed down by him: "Cheng Jingyi, are you feeling better now?"
Cheng Jingyi was naturally uncomfortable, as this closet was already cramped enough to hide one person, and hiding two people was simply a stretch. He curled up, his arms and knees were bent awkwardly, stiffly, and even had difficulty closing the closet door.
He snorted coldly, and squeezed on Shen Yisui without any psychological burden: "It's quite comfortable. That's it, let's sleep like this tonight."
Shen Yisui: "..."
"Get out, Shen Heng is still outside." Shen Yi moved his knees, "Didn't you say I was dead? Don't expose me."
"He's not here. I found another place for him to live, in the building next door." Cheng Jingyi didn't move. He was silent for a moment and continued, "I know you don't like him."
Shen Yisui paused when he heard this, and smiled: "Really? You know?"
"You almost stabbed him to death before, how could I not know that?!" Cheng Jingyi said angrily, "Were you ready to escape through the window just now? If the floor I found was not high enough, you would have been ready to leave when you heard Shen Heng's voice, right?"
Shen Yisui raised his eyebrows slightly: "Who said that? I didn't."
"Then why are you hiding here?" Cheng Jingyi raised his eyes and glanced at Shen Yisui, "Shen Yisui, you are actually a coward."
"What are you afraid of? Shen Heng? Zombies? Or the military?"
The air in the closet was thin, and no other answers came from inside for a while. Their breathing intertwined, heavy yet with room for relaxation.
