Chapter 13 This Village...

The women in the village were jealous of Jiang Chunzao's good life, and her parents and husband protected her like a treasure.

At this moment, seeing Jiang Chunzao getting in the car with a lot of rare things in big and small bags, everyone was jealous.

These gossipy old ladies were itching to go over and see what the spendthrift daughter-in-law of the old Lu family had bought. However, with the tall and handsome Lu Lin standing nearby, none of them had the courage to do so. Lu Lin had never been someone to be trifled with since he was a child. Ever since he joined the army and became an officer, his aura had become even more terrifying. Not to mention talking to him, even when Lu Lin stood there with an expressionless face, these old ladies didn't dare to say a word.

What's more, the two men were driving a tractor towards the village, so they couldn't just steal people's things from the car.

The scorching sun hung in the sky. Zhuzi drove the tractor on the bumpy mountain road for more than an hour and finally returned to Lujia Village before dark.

Zhuzi parked the tractor at the entrance of the village. All the villagers got off the car. Lu Lin's family was the last to get off. While they were in the car, Shitou and Moli were fast asleep in their parents' arms. Seeing that the two children were sleeping soundly with rosy faces, Jiang Chunzao discussed with Lu Lin to let him take the children home first, while she watched things at the entrance of the village and waited for Lu Lin to come back and pick her up.

Seeing that the groceries were taken out of the car and placed on the side of the road, Lu Lin heard what was said and saw that the children were sleeping soundly, so he nodded and took the two kids home first.

Jiang Chunzao and Lu Changshan's wife, who got off the bus with her, were standing at the entrance of the village. Lu Changshan's wife was a talkative person. This time she went to the city to buy a lot of coarse grains such as sweet potatoes and sorghum rice. She packed them into burlap bags, tied them tightly, and placed them on the ground waiting for her family to come and pick them up.

When Lu Lin and Jiang Chunzao got off the tractor ahead of her, they saw that she was having a hard time carrying the grain out of the vehicle by herself, so they helped Lu Changshan's wife to move the grain out of the vehicle.

This changed Lu Changshan's wife's opinion of Jiang Chunzao. When she saw Lu Lin carrying the two children away, she started talking to Jiang Chunzao in a friendly manner:

"Sister Chunzao, your sister-in-law has to thank you very much today. If it weren't for you and the Lu brothers, I wouldn't be able to carry these 200 kilograms of coarse grain by myself."

Jiang Chunzao knew that Lu Changshan's wife was cheerful and generous, and he was happy to befriend her, so he smiled and said:

"Sister-in-law, what are you talking about? Our two families are relatives. It's not right for me to help you. If you say thank you to me again, it will be too formal."

When Lu Changshan's wife heard this, she smiled even more and became more friendly to Jiang Chunzao:

"Yes, what my sister Chunzao said is right. I won't be so formal with you anymore."

Jiang Chunzao pursed his lips and smiled, then started chatting about family matters with Lu Changshan's wife. The two of them had similar personalities and enjoyed the conversation very much.

At this time, the group of old women in the village were also waiting by the roadside with the coarse grains they bought from the county. They saw the fair-skinned Jiang Chunzao standing not far away and chatting with Lu Changshan's wife. One or two of them looked at Jiang Chunzao with sour eyes, as if they were possessed by jealous spirits. One of them, a woman with a long thin face and a headscarf on her head, looked Jiang Chunzao up and down and said sourly:

"Hey, Shitou Niang, you bought so many good things when you went to the county town. We are all from the same village. Can you show us what good things you bought at home?"

"That's right. We are very poor at home. We can barely afford to eat. We have never seen any rare goods from the county town.

Shitou Niang, we are all good sisters, you can't be so petty and not show it to us, right? "

The other women in the village also smiled and responded. They all stared at the package in Jiang Chunzao's hands with greedy eyes, thinking in their hearts that Jiang Chunzao was really a spendthrift woman. Look at how she bought so many good things. The top ones looked like cloth, and the bottom ones were cotton. Cotton was a rare commodity. With cotton, they could buy new cotton-padded jackets for the children at home to get through the winter.

A group of old women looked at the cotton bought by Jiang Chunzao with envy, wondering in their hearts how they would ask Jiang Chunzao for some cotton to take home. Anyway, Jiang Chunzao was a spendthrift woman and her husband could make money, so what would it matter if he took some money from her?

A group of old ladies were plotting evil ideas in their hearts, and their eyes were full of calculations, which made people feel disgusted. When Lu Changshan's wife heard this, her brows immediately wrinkled. She was about to go up to send them away, but Jiang Chunzao pulled her back and said in a light tone:

"It's nothing good, just some home-cooked food. It's very hard to tie it up, so I won't show it to my sisters-in-law."

After hearing what Jiang Chunzao said, Lu Changshan's wife also spoke up:

"Shitou Niang is right. We have plenty of food in the countryside. What's so good about this food? Let's all go home."

After saying that, Lu Changshan's wife smiled and walked forward to help Jiang Chunzao carry the things. The discerning man thought that Lu Changshan's wife was helping Jiang Chunzao to chase them away, but the thin and long-faced woman didn't buy it. She stood up slowly and stood in front of the two people and said:

"Sister-in-law Changshan, that's not what you mean. We all live in the same village. We are all from the same village. Is there anything in Shitou's mother's house that we can't see?"

After saying this, the man with the thin and long face tried to grab the big bag in Jiang Chunzao's hand. She saw it clearly on the tractor in front. The bag was full of heavy cotton fabrics. If she took this good stuff home, her son would have a cotton-padded jacket for the winter this year.

Jiang Chunzao had been able to calmly argue with these old women before, but now when he saw the thin and long-faced woman directly grabbing things, he became furious.

Damn it, these shameless old women, they think she is easy to bully, so they dare to snatch her, Jiang Chunzao’s things, without even looking at how many hands they have!

Although Jiang Chunzao was spoiled by her parents since she was a child, she had a hot temper and a character that never suffered losses. When she saw the thin-faced woman and a group of old women coming over, she took out the kettle from her bag, opened the lid of the kettle, and poured the water directly on the thin-faced woman.

The water in the kettle was specially prepared by Lu Lin for Jiang Chunzao before he went out. Because Jiang Chunzao was born with a cold body, she couldn't drink cold water even in the hottest weather. He specially filled the kettle with hot water and wanted to take it with him to quench his wife's thirst on the road.

Although the water in the kettle is not as hot as before, this is the military kettle that Lu Lin brought back from the army. It is very warm and will not get cold even if you fill it with water all night. Moreover, the water in the kettle has only been in it for a few hours, so it is still hot.

In the hot summer, the thin and long-faced woman, who was already sweating profusely, had Jiang Chunzao pour a pot of warm water over her head. She immediately covered her face and screamed. The group of old women following her were so scared by Jiang Chunzao that they stood still and dared not move.

The thin-faced woman covered her face and screamed, wanting to rush over to beat Jiang Chunzao, but Jiang Chunzao, who was prepared, punched her directly in the face. The thin-faced woman was in so much pain that tears fell down.

Jiang Chunzao had followed Grandma Jiang since she was a child, watching her father slaughter pigs. At that time, being a butcher in the countryside was a coveted job. Not only could you get paid for helping people slaughter pigs, but people would also give the butcher some offal, pig ears, pig trotters, etc. as extra rewards.

Even though pig offal is hard to clean up, it is still meat. In this age when people can't even get enough to eat, who would complain about throwing away too little meat?

When Grandma Jiang was young and was slaughtering pigs in the village, there were always those jealous ruffians who came to his house to cause trouble. Grandma Jiang was not a pushover. When he saw the ruffians coming to his house to cause trouble, he never said a word but would just pick up his fists and beat them up.

Grandpa Jiang has his own secrets when it comes to beating people up. Not only is he quick but he is also ruthless. Every time he beats up those thugs, they cry and scream for their parents.

At that time, Jiang Chunzao was still a fair and tender little girl, who was raised and cherished by her parents like a treasure. Grandma Jiang, who protected her child, was afraid that her precious daughter would be bullied outside when she was not around, so she would teach her how to fight in front of her whenever she had the chance.

The way Jiang Chunzao punched the skinny-faced woman was learned from Grandpa Jiang. He raised his fist and punched her hard on the head with skill and strength. Even a child of a few years old could make the old men cry.

Not to mention Jiang Chunzao, the young wife who was already a mother. The thin and long-faced woman was sobbing and crying after being hit by that punch. The rest of the old ladies were also frightened and they froze in place, not daring to move.

Jiang Chunzao used the same method as when he dealt with the gang of hooligans in school before, and sneered at the group of old women:

"What's the matter? You guys are here to steal my things, aren't you? Why are you both standing there without moving? The things are right here, I'm waiting for you!"

A group of old ladies were shaking their heads like rattles, begging for mercy:

"Shitou Niang, we are blinded by greed and will never do such a conscienceless thing again. Please forgive us this time for the sake of our fellow villagers."

"Yes, we were wrong too. We won't do it again in the future."

A group of old women begged Jiang Chunzao, but Jiang Chunzao had a cold face and remained unmoved. Lu Changshan's wife also pouted beside her. These stinky women, when they were trying to steal Chunzao's things before, why didn't they think about the time when this would happen!

You deserve it!
