Chapter 69 The Old Lady and the Good Grandson
The man in the driver's seat pursed his lips and glanced through the rearview mirror at the young girl who greeted him politely.
The conversation between grandma and him last night came to his mind.
"Xiao Yi, you must perform well tomorrow! Although you are nine years older than Xiao Ran, I don't think she would look down on you, but you must work hard, just in case a pie falls from the sky! If you can make Xiao Ran your grandma's granddaughter-in-law, then you will be a great official of the Duan family!"
Although he had no such intention towards the little girl, he was still interested in the grandmother whom he often talked about.
His grandmother had been a teacher for more than forty years, and this was the first time in his twenty-eight years that he had seen her praise a student so much.
After greeting, Li Ran sat quietly in her seat, not feeling embarrassed at all for the other party's lack of response.
Professor Han expressed her dissatisfaction. She patted the back of the driver's seat and said, "Duan Chenyi, why are you so rude? Xiaoran is greeting you."
Li Ran waved her hands quickly, fearing that her mentor would be unhappy because of her and her grandson.
Duan Chenyi also realized that he was rude just now, and explained, "Sorry, I was just thinking about love. Li Ran, hello, my name is Duan Chenyi, and I often hear grandma mention you."
Seeing that her grandson finally behaved well, the old lady smiled and squinted her eyes, and began to tell Li Ran about all kinds of interesting things about her grandson.
Li Ran listened to the instructor carefully, and would ask a few questions when he heard something interesting.
It took Duan Chenyi two full hours to drive from Jingda to the closed base of the Baihe crew. The car finally stopped when the surrounding scenery became more and more desolate.
Li Ran looked out through the car window and saw a huge black iron gate in front of him, and the surrounding walls were also very high.
She curiously asked her teacher, "Teacher, where is this? Why do we feel like we have been kidnapped?"
Professor Han was very old, and the two-hour drive was a bit tiring for her. Fortunately, Duan Chenyi drove steadily, allowing her to sleep for a long time during the journey.
"Haha, you'll get used to it. This is how the crews with the highest level of confidentiality work. Just like when you were taking the college entrance exam, the people who wrote the test questions would also be taken to places like this."
The old lady looked in good spirits after sleeping all the way.
Duan Chenyi showed his pass to the security guard at the door, and the black iron gate in front of him slowly opened, revealing the panoramic view of the entire base in front of Li Ran.
This is a large filming base. Some buildings from the Republic of China period can be seen in the distance. Li Ran leaned on the car window and kept looking at them.
"The drama will be aired next week. Except for the two teachers in charge of the sixty-year generation who joined the crew early, almost all other staff members will join the crew in the next two days." Duan Chenyi's voice came faintly from the front.
Li Ran looked at him in surprise, wondering why he knew all this.
"The entire filming period will last for three months. During these three months, I will visit grandma every week. The Internet is not allowed in the base. If you want to contact your family, I can help you convey it. Or if you need me to bring anything in for you, you can also tell me."
"Brother Chenyi, this..." She didn't know why her mentor's grandson knew so much. Did her mentor tell him?
Duan Chenyi explained calmly, "The Hundred Flowers series of one-shot dramas is a program initiated by the Jingcheng Municipal Committee, which happens to be within the scope of responsibility of my department."
Li Ran understood. It turned out that Duan Chenyi was the secretary of the Jingcheng Municipal Committee. No wonder the teacher said he was a civil servant.
