Chapter 31 Where to Put My Face

Just as the person inside was hearing about the divine victory, someone jumped down and stepped on the person in the well's shoulder. As a result, Gao Yu lost his balance and fell down with the person below. The young man survived and, before he fell, used his arms to support himself and got up.

He vented his anger on the people inside, kicking Old Man Ge twice without a second thought. His two friends, seeing Gao Yu's anger, also kicked him a few times. Gao Yu shouted to the people above, "Throw down a rope and tie him up so he doesn't run around."

Just as the person below was about to speak, Gao Yu took off her handkerchief and used it to gag the person.

The three men quickly tied up the people inside. One man stepped on another to lift two people up, and the last man picked up the bound man, shouted to those above, and the men above pulled the bound man up.

The remaining person was the one Xiaoyue had saved that day. It was dark, and the day was completely different from today, so Xiaoyue didn't recognize him, but the person recognized Xiaoyue.

The man's name was Hua Qi, who was said to be Liang Bo's long-lost son. After arriving at the Liang family, he changed his name to Liang Qi.

Using the rope lowered down by the people above, Liang Qi jumped up to the ground.

Uncle Gao turned the bound man over on the ground and was stunned to find that it was an old acquaintance: Old Man Ge.

Uncle Gao sighed and circled Old Man Ge several times, pointing at him on the ground with a trembling finger, saying, "You have sons and daughters, aren't you ashamed? Where do you put your face?"

He looked up at Xiaoyue across from him, then sighed and said to her earnestly, "Let's see what to do. You still have some connection with the Ge family, so don't make things too awkward. For Ge Sanlin's sake..."

Old Man Ge lay hunched over on the ground, his body bound tightly by Gao Yu and the other two, looking quite pitiful.

Xiaoyue's death in her previous life was definitely related to Old Man Ge, but she just couldn't understand why, even though she had already left the Ge family after her rebirth, they were still so greedy. They must have heard Ge Erping exaggerate the story about her building the house.

Old Man Ge couldn't sit still any longer; he insisted on finding out where he got the money from, or if it was because of something else...

Uncle Gao stared at Xiaoyue in silence for a long time, his brows furrowed, but the people around him whispered among themselves:

"You really can't tell, he usually looks quite honest and simple."

"Oh yeah, I never expected that! You can know a person's face but not their heart!"

"Yes, he seems like a good person on the surface, but who knew he was so scheming behind the scenes."

"Isn't that right? The things stolen today might be on one of our people here."

"Damn, that's really insidious." A young man went up and kicked Old Man Ge.

Everyone then came over and started kicking Old Man Ge.

Uncle Gao quickly intervened, saying to everyone, "Thank you all for your hard work today, gentlemen. Next time something like this happens, I'll definitely invite you all."

"fine"

"It's only right."

"We have to thank Uncle Gao for giving us the opportunity to make money."

...

Uncle Gao looked at everyone and said, "Let's disperse. This is a matter between Xiaoyue and the Ge family, right?" He glanced at the silent Xiaoyue.

He added, "Gao Yu, stay here. Yang Dake and Lu Dianhua, stay here. The rest of you can go home. You've all had a long day."

Liang Qi said, "I'll stay too."

Uncle Gao turned to look at Liang Qi, but said nothing.

Uncle Gao bent down to untie Old Man Ge's ropes, but his eyes were fixed on Xiaoyue.

Xiaoyue was also wondering what to do. Seeing Uncle Gao looking over, she smiled and said, "Uncle Gao, I've never experienced anything like this before. I'm just afraid of the dark."

Someone might sneak into my house. As a woman living alone, I'd be in deep trouble no matter what I did, so I set the trap myself.

Xiaoyue sighed and said, "Who would have thought that the person trapped in the well was Brother Ge's father? Old Man Ge, what did you take a fancy to? Tell me. When Brother Sanlin saved me, I said that I would take care of his wife and daughter."

Old Man Ge glared at Xiaoyue, then turned his head away without saying a word.

Xiaoyue continued, "I'm telling the truth. The Ge family wasn't giving Third Sister-in-law any food, and Little Bean was starving, so I brought her to my home. She's right here in the house."

"Aunt Xiaoyue, I'm here," the little boy replied in a clear voice.

"Aunt Xiaoyue?" Liang Qi asked in confusion.

“Yes, Xiaodouding also wants to call me Auntie. Her own mother is sick and is lying in my house, so I have no choice but to let her call Xiaoyue Auntie,” Xiaojiao explained.

Then he looked at Old Man Ge, and saw that Old Man Ge had recovered, stood up, dusted himself off, snorted at Xiaoyue, and walked away alone.

Everyone present was stunned. Gao Yu exclaimed, "Holy crap!"

Yang Dahua: "Awesome!"

Liang Qi...

Xiaoyue smiled when she saw the expressions on these people's faces, and then went up to Uncle Gao: "Thank you, Uncle Gao."

"Let him go. He's Ge Sanlin's father, and I was the one who rescued him from human traffickers. It's wrong to pursue the matter any further. Let him go," Xiaoyue said to Liang Qi, who was about to chase after him.

Seeing that nothing had happened, the remaining people all left. Xiaoyue saw them off at the courtyard gate, then turned back and filled in the pit, and dug two larger ones next to it.

They then scattered the ashes from the burned grass fields onto the ground.

They planted the chives they got from Uncle Liang at the edge of the field and watered them.

I'm planning to plant vegetables at home tomorrow, and the day after tomorrow I need to go to the mountain to look for linden black gold to see how much money I can get back.

Xiaoyue suddenly realized she had forgotten to brew medicine for her third sister-in-law, and all her plans fell apart. She decided to get down to business.

I took out the medicine jar, washed it carefully twice, then took out the medicine packet I got from Old Ge's house, opened it, put the medicine into the jar, and then put the medicine packet aside.

I put it away, then put three bowls of water in the medicine pot and simmered the medicine over a low flame.

When there was about a bowl of water left, Xiaoyue laid a cloth down and poured out the medicine, leaving the dregs to brew again tomorrow. Then she carried the bowl of medicine into the house and handed it to her third sister-in-law, Lu Xiaomei.

When Lu Xiaomei arrived at Xiaoyue's place, her cough suddenly lessened. She ate some food in the afternoon and even took a nap. Now she looks much more energetic.

Smiling, Lu Xiaomei took the medicine, blew on it to cool it down, and drank it down in one gulp without complaining about the bitterness.

Xiaoyue picked up the bowl and washed it outside.

Looking up at the sky, Xiaoyue felt it was about to rain. Then she remembered something else: why hadn't Hou San come back yet? Now that her second brother was back, if he didn't return soon, he would miss Erping's engagement.

Still feeling uneasy, Xiaoyue thought for a moment, then went inside to put away the bowls and said to Lu Xiaomei, "I'm going out for a bit, I'll be right back. Third Sister-in-law, you and Xiaodouding go to sleep first."

Xiaoyue closed the door, walked into the yard, and looked at the sky again, thinking, "Please, please don't let it rain, the roof hasn't been built yet."

As she reached the village entrance, she saw a familiar figure walking towards her. "Liang Qi, what are you doing?" Xiaoyue asked as she watched Liang Qi run up behind her. She wondered if he was going up the mountain.

"I'm going up the mountain to exercise." Liang Qi stopped when he saw Xiaoyue.

"Do you exercise at this time every day?" Xiaoyue asked with concern, thinking that her exercise might be disturbing that despicable couple. If they weren't flirting, wouldn't her letter to Hou San have been wasted?
