Liang Qi killed everyone alive in Xiaoyue's courtyard. Just then, he heard movement coming from Ge Sanlin's courtyard.
If someone were to look out of Ge Sanlin's window, Liang Qi, a grown man, would be easily spotted in the snow. So he hurriedly ran to the front house, leaped into the kitchen, lifted the cover of the trap, and saw Xiaoyue lying at the entrance. He gestured to Xiaoyue to move the entrance aside so he could get down, and casually said, "It's okay, let's go down quickly."
Xiaoyue climbed down first, followed by Liang Qi. They lit a tinderbox and lit firewood, illuminating the trap.
Xiaoyue glanced at the contents of the trap and was relieved to find that nothing had been moved out.
He set up a stand for boiling water with three sticks, then put aside the scraps of cloth and cotton that Liang Qi had thrown down. He picked up a cassava root, used the knife that Liang Qi had used to chop people to pick up three larger cassava roots, chopped them down, and threw them into the fire.
Then he placed the remaining cassava next to the cotton shreds, and dug a hole in the corner of the wall and buried the radish in it.
After finishing tidying up her place, Xiaoyue rinsed the rice with the water in the bucket, took the kettle down, put the pot on the rack, and started the fire to cook the rice. Xiaoyue used the last bit of water in the bucket to cook the rice.
Xiaoyue looked at the empty bucket, then at Liang Qi who was arranging cabbages beside her. She wanted to speak, but was too embarrassed to.
Finally, Xiaoyue decided to carry the wooden bucket up herself and fetch water down.
While working, Liang Qi kept glancing at Xiaoyue out of the corner of his eye. Seeing Xiaoyue carrying a bucket of water and looking up at him, he instantly understood what she was up to. He quickly rushed over to Xiaoyue, snatched the bucket from her hands, and placed his large hand on the top of her head.
Xiaoyue couldn't move forward. She looked at Liang Qi for a while and then smiled for no reason. It turned out that he knew what she wanted to do from just a small gesture.
Liang Qi gently tapped Xiaoyue on the head and whispered to her, "Wait here. With me here, you don't need to do this kind of work."
His words were calm and his attitude indifferent, but Xiaoyue felt a sweet sensation well up inside her. It spread to her mind and then to her face, and suddenly her face turned crimson. She dared not look Liang Qi in the eye.
Xiaoyue took a step back in a affected manner, then another, refusing to turn around and face away from Liang Qi.
He retreated to the small stool made of firewood, and watched as Liang Qi climbed up the earthen steps, climbed out of the trap, and closed the lid. Only then did he seem to realize what had happened. He covered his burning face with his hands and stood there, grinning foolishly. Suddenly, a scream rang out above him.
Xiaoyue was so startled that she immediately jumped up and hurriedly climbed to the cave entrance, where she lifted the lid a crack.
Because Liang Qi was still wearing the fat man's clothes when he fetched water, a soldier who had secretly returned went to rest in the front room and discovered Liang Qi fetching water. It was obvious that Liang Qi had his back to the man, who mistook him for one of his own.
The man greeted Liang Qi, "Hi, you're back too."
Liang Qi didn't want to kill him, but when Liang Qi turned around, the man recognized the fat man's clothes, so he screamed loudly.
Liang Qi wouldn't let him cry out a second time. He quickly approached him, took the knife from his waist, and ended the man's life with a single stroke.
Afterwards, Liang Qi quickly lifted the lid of the trap with a bucket full of water. Xiao Yue helped Liang Qi take the bucket down, closed the lid, and then jumped in.
Xiaoyue immediately threw herself into Liang Qi's arms. Liang Qi could feel Xiaoyue's heart pounding and her body trembling slightly. Liang Qi picked Xiaoyue up, took a few steps, and sat her on a small stool.
He leaned down and whispered in Xiaoyue's ear, "Don't be afraid. The centurion, Heizi, and Xiucai, who were in charge, are all dead. Next, they'll start causing trouble among themselves. No one has ever seen my face, so don't be afraid."
After thinking for a moment, he hugged the person in his arms tighter and said, "They don't have many people left. Even if I fight them head-on, I have a 50% chance of winning."
Xiaoyue covered Liang Qi's mouth with her hand, signaling him not to talk nonsense.
Without thinking, Liang Qi licked Xiaoyue's hand with his tongue. After a moment, Xiaoyue broke free from Liang Qi's embrace and hurriedly went to the fire. She stirred the rice with a spoon to prevent it from burning.
Liang Qi followed Xiaoyue to the campfire, clumsily.
I squatted down and looked up at Xiaoyue's flushed face in the firelight. Her eyes, her nose, her lips—those lips were soft, moist, and pink. I really wanted to kiss her and taste what it felt like.
And that fair, delicate neck, so white and slender, made Liang Qi swallow hard. Realizing he had lost his composure, he quickly turned his head away, not daring to look at Xiaoyue.
Xiaoyue used a stick to stir the cassava in the fire. One side was soft, while the other side wasn't red yet, so Xiaoyue flipped them over, added more firewood, and poked Liang Qi with another stick. He raised his head slightly, then lowered it again. In the firelight, he...
Deep-set eyes, large eyes, those dark pupils tinged with lake blue, cool yet hinting at unspoken emotions; her crimson lower lip bitten cleanly with neat teeth marks; the tips of her ears dripping red blood—Xiaoyue's heart stirred.
Feeling a mischievous urge, she straightened up and poked Liang Qi again with the stick. Liang Qi, as if afraid of something, gripped Xiaoyue's stick and pulled hard.
Xiaoyue fell into Liang Qi's arms, their heartbeats reaching each other's ears. In this quiet space, only the pounding of their hearts remained.
Suddenly someone shouted from above: "Commander Wang, Commander Wang, someone's dead! Someone's dead!"
Ten people entered through the courtyard gate. The leader, with a serious expression, said to the shouting soldiers, "Why did you call me? The scholar and the centurion are still inside."
