"The banquet is over, and Dad didn't even notice I was missing?" Mi Xi asked Mi Lan in a wronged voice.
Mi Lan glanced at her daughter with a pained expression. "Don't be sad. It's Mom's fault for not winning over your father. Mom promises to make your father like me as soon as possible. That way, your father will start to pay more attention to you. It's a good thing he didn't pay more attention to you. At least it's a good thing for today. Otherwise, what you did earlier would have been discovered."
Mi Xi also realized what was going on, nodded, and the mother and daughter took a taxi back to the Li family.
When Mi Xi got home, she saw Li Hongyun sitting on the sofa reading the newspaper. She immediately ran up to him, hugged his arm and shook it repeatedly. "Dad, you came back without telling me. Don't you care about your daughter anymore? Or do you not want Xi Xi anymore?"
As she spoke, tears started welling up in Mi Xi's eyes.
Hearing what Mi Xi said, Li Hongyun felt guilty and ashamed. He gently patted Mi Xi's hand and said, "It's Daddy's fault. Don't cry, Xi Xi. Daddy was too busy and tired today. I did neglect you because of your sister's coming-of-age ceremony."
As he spoke, he took out a bank card from his purse. "This card has 20 million in it. Consider it compensation from your father."
Mi Xi felt very resentful looking at the bank card. She had heard that Li Mu and Li Yi's bank cards had no credit limit, and since both of them owned 10% of the Li Group's shares, they were not short of money. She thought to herself, but outwardly said that she would not accept the bank card that Li Hongyun handed over.
Li Hongyun thought Mi Xi was just throwing a tantrum and never expected that Mi Xi had such a big appetite, so he coaxed Mi Xi with kind words.
Mi Xi had no choice but to accept the bank card with a look of disappointment.
Ling Hao rushed back to the Ling family's main residence. Inside, the old master of the Ling family sat in the main seat with a serious expression, while Ling's father and mother looked bewildered. Standing next to Ling's father and mother was a young man, his older brother Ling Hui, who was expressionless.
When Ling Hao arrived at the Ling family's main residence, this was the scene that greeted him. He immediately felt uneasy, as if the house was very cold.
When Grandpa Ling saw Ling Hao arrive, he asked in a deliberately relaxed tone, "Hao'er, did you go to the eldest daughter of the Ling family for her coming-of-age ceremony today?"
Ling Hao nodded. "Yes, Grandpa."
Grandpa Ling then asked, "Who are the people present?"
Ling Hao stammered and named a few people.
Ling's parents looked anxious, while Ling Hui frowned, wondering why his grandfather was asking these questions.
Old Master Ling suddenly stood up and slammed his fist on the table. "What exactly did you do in the past? Tell me honestly!"
Ling Hao was so frightened by Old Master Ling that he almost knelt down.
Ling Hao was so frightened that his voice changed. "I...I slept with Mi Xi, the second young lady of the Li family."
Ling Hao closed his eyes as he uttered the last three words, displaying a sense of fearlessness in the face of death.
Old Master Ling was so angry that he was puffing out his beard and glaring at people; if you looked closely, his beard was trembling with rage.
He shouted sternly, "Kneel down!"
Ling Hao knelt down with a thud, then immediately regretted it. He should have at least knelt down slower; it hurt too much.
Grandpa Ling said, "How old are you? You've only been back in the country for a short time and you dare to do such an absurd thing. The second young lady of the Li family is only seventeen."
"Grandpa is sixteen, sixteen," Ling Hao quickly corrected.
Father Ling closed his eyes and sighed helplessly. Mother Ling's eyes revealed anxiety. Ling Hao sighed deeply, his eyes almost rolling back. This younger brother is so stupid, it's unbearable to look at!
Ling Hao finally realized what was happening, and inwardly cursed himself for being so stupid.
When Old Master Ling heard the number sixteen, his hands trembled with anger. He raised his trembling hand and pointed at Ling Hao, saying, "You go to the Ling family ancestral hall and receive thirty lashes, and then you kneel obediently for three hours."
Upon hearing this, Ling Hao immediately raised his head and hurriedly begged for mercy, "Grandpa, Grandpa, I was wrong, Grandpa, please don't hit me."
Ling's parents also rushed forward.
Father Ling, thirty strokes is too heavy for Father. Why not let him kneel for one night instead?
Ling's mother also went there crying and pleading, "Dad, please don't hit Hao'er, he really knows he was wrong."
Ling knelt down in front of Grandpa Ling and said, "Grandpa, if you want to hit my brother, hit me instead."
Old Master Ling values the Ling family's reputation highly, and having a relationship with a minor would have a huge impact on that reputation.
Grandpa Ling looked at the people pleading in front of him, but remained unmoved.
He shouted at the door, "Everyone, come in here!" The bodyguards at the door rushed in.
Old Master Ling pointed at Ling Hao and ordered, "Bring him to the ancestral hall."
The bodyguards answered in unison, "Yes."
The two bodyguards ignored Ling Hao's struggles and dragged him toward the ancestral hall.
Upon arriving at the ancestral hall, a bodyguard brought over a long bench and placed it there. Then, another bodyguard dragged Ling Hao over, and the four bodyguards pressed Ling Hao down onto the bench. Ling Hao lay face down on the bench, and the four bodyguards held down his limbs.
Old Master Ling stood in the center of the ancestral hall, looked at the bodyguards holding wooden sticks on both sides of Ling Hao, and shouted sternly, "What are you looking at me for? Get out of here and hit him!"
The bodyguards had no choice but to fight.
There were bodyguards nearby counting off: one, two, three, four, fifteen, thirty.
As the bodyguards counted off, Ling Hao's voice continued, filled with his pained cries.
After the fight was over, Old Master Ling walked out without looking back.
Ling's parents and Ling Hui rushed to help Ling Hao up, while the bodyguards wisely left quickly, as they feared they would also be in trouble if they didn't.
Ling Hao endured the pain and knelt down in front of the ancestral hall. Ling Hui said calmly from the side, "I will find out how Grandpa found out about this." Ling Hao nodded with difficulty.
Ling Hui turned around and strode out, using all his connections to investigate the matter.
Beside him, Ling's mother was sobbing uncontrollably, while Ling's father had a sinister look on his face.
Ling Hao has calmed down quite a bit now, although he doesn't blame Mi Xi.
However, the thought of that old woman Mi Lan threatening and coercing him made him furious. He thought about his next move: he would definitely give Mi Xi a good beating.
Ouch! I gasped in pain, and the thought of the indescribable things made me a little excited, so I strained harder, but my butt hurt terribly.
It has to be said, Ling Hao is really amazing. Even in such pain, he can still think about those kinds of things.
Three hours passed quickly. Ling Hao hurriedly called Mi Xi, gave her an address, and told her to come over as soon as possible.
Mi Xi readily agreed.
