Chapter 64 How could she not change!
Madam Shen's face showed displeasure. She had never liked this unruly and disobedient eldest granddaughter. She had only pretended to be a kind and filial granddaughter in the past because of the imperial family. Now that she had been rejected by the royal family and had lost all her titles, how dare she still be so arrogant?
That little bitch, today she'll teach her a lesson about what it means to be more than just a person of loyalty and filial piety.
"How dare you! You talk back to your elders! Do you even care about us elders?" Old Madam Shen scolded fiercely.
A mocking glint flashed in Shen Lanxi's eyes. She never imagined that the family she had cherished for two lifetimes after her rebirth would turn out like this. It made her years of hatred and regret seem like a complete joke!
"Lanxi, how did you become like this?" Liu frowned, looking heartbroken.
That's a good question. Having lived an extra life, she recalls the past in her mind every day, thinking about how she would take revenge, how she would save her family, and what her family would become if she could go back.
Her way of dealing with missing her family is to recall every moment she spent with them, remembering every look in their eyes and every action they took.
She couldn't stop thinking about a way to get revenge every day.
When you analyze a person's words and actions repeatedly to the extreme, you will uncover many things hidden beneath the surface!
She used to think that her family was harmonious and happy, but it was all an illusion!
How could she not change!
"Second Aunt, what have I become? I can't even tell myself. Why don't you tell me?" Shen Lanxi's eyes swept over her coldly.
Liu panicked and hurriedly said, "You ride in the carriage yourself, but make your family run behind it. Tell me, what do you call that?"
"You indulge in lavish food and drink while your family goes hungry and thirsty. How can you be so heartless!"
Shen Lanxi: "Was it me who wouldn't let you ride in the carriage?"
"Did I let you suffer from hunger and thirst?"
Shen Congyi's face darkened: "Don't try to argue. You used to send food and drinks to your family, why don't you send them anymore?"
Shen Lanxi said coldly, "You angered the constables yourselves, and they stopped you from delivering the goods, yet you come here to complain to me. Shouldn't you reflect on yourselves and figure out why you angered the constables in the first place?"
Old Madam Shen angrily scolded, "How dare you speak to your elders like that! How could we have raised such a disobedient and unfilial child? If we had known you would turn out like this, I would have... I would have..."
"Are you going to smother me, strangle me, or drown me in a chamber pot? When my mother gave birth to me, the Empress Dowager was there to watch over her. Would you dare?"
"Although my surname is Shen, I grew up under the care of the Empress Dowager since childhood. Why didn't you say that I was a descendant of the Shen family and take me to the Shen family back then?"
Shen Lanxi looked at these so-called family members with a cold expression: "I know perfectly well why you came to find me!"
"If you push me too far, you all know exactly what I'll do to you!"
"Even if you don't come looking for me, I will still make time to come to you!"
Old Madam Shen was frightened. The filial piety she often used on her children and grandchildren was no longer effective on Shen Lanxi!
For the first time, she realized that filial piety, this seemingly invincible weapon, had no binding force whatsoever on this unconventional granddaughter.
"You unfilial and disobedient brat, shut up! Second, third, and fourth sons, go and slap her hard across the face. Today, I'm going to teach this disrespectful and shameful thing a lesson on behalf of her parents!"
Liu and Miao dared not step forward; the three of them combined were no match for Shen Lanxi's blows.
If it weren't for Old Madam Shen taking the lead, they wouldn't even dare to come!
"Mother, please calm down. Lanxi is still a child."
"Yes, Mother, Lanxi is still young and doesn't understand the plans we adults have made for her!"
They came for the money, not to cause trouble. To put it bluntly, they were criminals, and even if they arrived in Dongchuan, they wouldn't have the same advantages as Shen Lanxi, a commoner. They would definitely need her to do things for them in the future, so they couldn't afford to offend her now!
"Mother, calm down. If you get angry, Lanxi will really be labeled as disobedient and unfilial!"
"Lanxi, quickly say a few kind words to your grandmother. She's worried about you, otherwise why would she give up her rest time to come here to see you?"
Shen Lanxi coldly observed these people, some playing the good cop and some the bad cop, her heart as firm as a rock, unmoved!
"None of you should speak up for her. Her father's troubles have implicated our whole family. If she doesn't hand over the money today, I will represent the Shen family clan and expel her from the Shen family!" Old Madam Shen glared coldly. Once expelled from the clan, she would be without roots, and she would have no further connection with the Shen family.
She can't control a disobedient and unfilial child?
"Fine! You said it yourself, so I agree. From now on, I have nothing to do with your Shen family. You can leave!" Shen Lanxi said decisively.
Madam Shen was dumbfounded.
Does she, a woman, truly understand that without the protection of her clan, she would be like a stray dog, subject to all humiliation?
The three Shen brothers panicked. Weren't they asking for money? How did things turn into extermination of their clan?
If Lanxi has nothing to do with them anymore, wouldn't she have even more reason to ignore them in the future?
How could my mother be so foolish!
“Mother, if you can’t speak properly, then don’t speak!” Shen Congyi glared at his mother.
They finally managed to come over while the eldest son was away, not so that Shen Lanxi would cut ties with them!
“Lanxi, your grandmother is worried sick seeing our Shen family fall into this state. She's just being considerate of the younger generation. Your youngest cousin is only three years old, and there are several other very young children. They were seriously ill a couple of days ago, and they're about to succumb to their illness. Your grandmother is so worried she can't sleep, and she even has blisters on her lips. When she's anxious, she says the wrong thing. When she asked you for money, she just wanted to buy medicine from the constables; she didn't mean anything else!” Shen Congyi quickly tried to mediate.
Shen Lanxi looked at him with a deep gaze: "Fourth Uncle, I remember when we encountered bandits on the road, it was the children in your house who shouted to hand over our eldest branch of the family, right?"
Shen Congyi's face stiffened, and his hands under his wide sleeves almost dug his palms raw.
He finally realized that his elder brother's daughter was vengeful; she remembered everything even after so many days. She was ruthless and cunning, unlike his foolish elder brother!
Shen Congyi turned around and walked up to his illegitimate son, slapping him hard across the face. The force of the blow knocked Shen Yuanzhan to the ground, drawing blood from his mouth.
“I’ll beat you to death, you little beast! Our Shen family’s prosperity and decline are intertwined. The glory of our entire family is upheld by the eldest branch of the family. Without your uncle, you wouldn’t even know where you are now.”
Shen Congyi's words had a double meaning: on one hand, he was reminding Shen Lanxi that she was a member of the Shen family, and on the other hand, he was trying to curry favor with her!
"Lanxi, that little brat is a son of a bitch, he doesn't know any manners. I've already taught him a lesson. If he ever utters any more foul language again, you can go ahead and punish him severely!"
Shen Yuanzhan was so frightened that he kept covering his face and backing away.
