It wasn't a very pleasant physical feeling for Du Chen to start over as a baby.
His tongue, which couldn't be straightened, could only make humming sounds, and his weak limbs made it difficult for him to turn over while lying on the bed like a turtle with its four legs facing up.
The most shameful thing is that as a middle-aged man with a mental age of nearly 40, he couldn't control his urination and defecation, which made him even more devastated.
Not only that, his brain capacity, which is only the size of a fist, and his energy intake from milk alone are not enough to keep him thinking for a long time. If he thinks a little more, he will become sleepy.
The consequence of falling asleep is that you cannot control your bladder and sphincter, so you either pee or poop in your pants.
But to start over again, I felt happy mentally, lying in my parents' arms again, and my skinny brother carefully touching my little face.
Du Chen lay in the middle of the bed, looking at the blue sky and white clouds outside the window, as well as the old-fashioned furniture around him. All of this brought Du Chen to tears.
Born in the 1980s, Du Chen and his brother were born in the best and worst eras, and also the most nostalgic era.
Now, as a baby who has just turned one month old, Du Chen can only lie quietly in the middle of the bed and can do nothing.
Meanwhile, his older brother lay on the bed, carefully watching the little boy, occasionally touching his face or grabbing his hand. All his movements were done with such care, fearing that he might hurt Du Chen.
Du Chen turned his head to look at his brother Du Bin, and then looked at this familiar yet unfamiliar home. In his previous life, his family had never returned here since they moved out in sixth grade. This was the home where he grew up, the old house that carried his childhood memories.
Looking at the blue sky outside the window and the white clouds slowly floating by, the radio next to him was playing "In the Fields of Hope" and the voice that was full of modernity, everything made Du Chen extremely satisfied.
Du Chen recalled how he came back to life. Maybe he drank too much, but it didn't matter.
Although Du Chen had no shortage of money in his previous life, he didn't have a lot of it either. He was almost 40 years old and alone, running a medium-sized car modification shop.
I have missed many opportunities and also missed many chances. Now that I have a chance to live again, I will live my life to the fullest without any regrets.
Looking back now, I have forgotten that when I grew up, my favorite thing as a child was to look at the blue sky and white clouds, imagining what this cloud looked like and what was inside that cloud.
After experiencing the intense, fast-paced life he once led, Du Chen now finds the slow pace of life he now enjoys without worries. Besides, as a child, his only job is to eat and drink well, leaving adult matters to his parents. Of course, it would be even better if he could control his own poop and pee.
Time is a butcher's knife, turning a plump, dark pig into a skewered pig hanging in a butcher's shop in the blink of an eye. Although Du Chen, the suckling pig, hasn't yet been crushed by the butcher's knife of time, he's gone from a bedridden suckling pig wearing diapers to a tender pig running around in open-crotch pants.
Du Chen, who just turned one year old, had a serious discussion with his parents because he didn't want to wear open-crotch pants. It was called a discussion, but in fact he was just playing tricks and refusing to wear open-crotch pants.
Although Du Chen can now talk to his parents fluently, he consciously controls his behavior in order not to shock the world. He repeatedly pleads with his parents to avoid wearing open-crotch pants, but without a doubt, he gets slapped on the buttocks several times.
At present, Du Chen can control his urination and defecation, but his parents think that children may not have time to take off their pants to go to the toilet when they are not paying attention or in a hurry. It is troublesome to wash clothes if they get them dirty. In that era of material scarcity, there were not many clothes for Du Chen to change into.
Du Chen had to wear open-crotch pants every day, though he was reluctant. Adults these days always had nothing better to do than pluck or flick your little bird when you weren't paying attention. Workers in the 1980s were just so idle, they always had endless time. Besides work, they spent their time chatting, playing cards, drinking, and playing mahjong.
Du Chen's father was a railway employee who was assigned to work there after his discharge from the army. Back then, the railway bosses were truly powerful, with their own family quarters, including police, courts, schools, and hospitals. Railway workers were like their own little society, surrounded by their own neighbors, all railway workers.
Du Chen's home was in a residential complex built by the railway system. The complex consisted of about 30 buildings, each four stories high, with three households per floor. Each household had two bedrooms, a kitchen, and a bathroom, covering just over 50 square meters. In the 1980s, such living conditions were quite good for ordinary people.
For my parents who came from the countryside, although the yard was not as big as those in the village, there was electricity, water supply and drainage, and they lived in an apartment building. Such conditions were something they could never have imagined when they were young.
Every morning, groups of railway workers ride their bicycles to and from get off work at noon, creating a lively atmosphere. Railway stations are very close to residential areas, and are generally located around them. A ten-minute ride on a 28-inch bicycle brings you home, followed by a nap after lunch. Workers gradually leave work around 5 p.m.
So the railway workers back then were really idle. Unlike today's society, people have to rush to eat lunch and home is just a place to sleep at night.
To make his future more comfortable, Du Chen, now just over a year old, has begun preparing for his character. Obedient, smart, and a low-maintenance persona—these are the initial character goals Du Chen has set for himself.
He's a sweet little kid, calling out "Daddy, Mom, and Brother" with incredible clarity. He needs his parents and older brothers to hug him, then give him a kiss. With this routine, he's able to do whatever he wants. The neighbors are envious, praising the Du family's second child for his intelligence, clarity, and ability to coax people without needing to be held for pee or poop. They say he's easy to raise and doesn't burden his parents.
