Du Chen planned to test the waters with his father first to see what he meant. In many aspects, Du Chen's father was a very open-minded father who preferred to communicate with his children. Of course, he would resort to violence when communication didn't work, but as Du Bin and Du Chen grew older, he rarely resorted to violence now.
"Dad, do you remember there is a stationery store in front of our school?" Du Chen said to his father who was smoking.
"Yeah, I know. I took you there to buy colored pencils. It's just opposite the school gate, right? What's wrong?" Du Chen's father replied.
"Today I saw that the stationery store was moving, so I asked about it. It's closed down. What do you think about us taking over and opening a stationery store there?"
Du Chen's father looked at him strangely and said, "Why do you have such an idea? You don't study hard, what are you thinking about every day?"
"Dad, don't worry, I haven't fallen behind in my studies. I will definitely be among the top students in the grade in this midterm exam. If I can't do that, it's up to you. I just happened to encounter someone moving today, so I told you about this." Du Chen assured his father.
"Come on, tell me what you think?" Du Chen's father asked, but in his heart he was thinking, "This second son has always been steady and sensible, but he's a bit too precocious. Let's see what he can say today."
Du Chen's mother was very efficient. She cleaned the kitchen and went into the main house before Du Chen got to the point.
"What are you two talking about? Du Chen, have you finished your homework?"
"Also, I heard you whispering in the kitchen. Keep your voices down. Du Bin is studying." Without waiting for the two to answer, Du Chen's mother continued.
"Go on, and let your mother listen too and see what she thinks." Du Chen's father said to Du Chen while briefly telling Du Chen's mother about Du Chen's thoughts.
"Then listen to me, and I'll continue."
