"Chenchen, if you don't go, this won't be done!"
Jia Xiaomin said to Du Chen.
"Auntie, why?"
"Teacher Zhu is a person who values talent. If we go there and ask for help without any real intention, he might not be happy about it. He might think we're trying to get in through the back door."
"But if you go and let Teacher Zhu see your talent, and Teacher Zhu likes you, then he'll know you're really capable, and this will make things much easier!"
Jia Xiaomin explained to Du Chen.
"Auntie, what you mean is that I still have to do a set of papers!"
Du Chen asked bluntly, "What talent or ability is that? It's just about seeing how good your grades are!" And how can you say this is a backdoor? Du Chen secretly complained in his heart.
"Well, you could say that."
"Chenchen, it's okay. You've been doing a lot of papers these past two days anyway. Just do another set in the afternoon. One more set isn't too much, right?"
Comrade Lao Du said this, but it sounded like a sarcastic remark.
"Okay, Dad, Auntie, just do it. I'm used to it anyway."
What else could Du Chen say? He could only admit against his will that he was used to doing papers.
In the afternoon, Comrade Lao Du brought a few people to the cram school. Teacher Zhu has retired this year and stays in the cram school when he has nothing to do, so a few people came directly to the cram school.
For the sake of Ding Miaomiao, Jia Xiaomin no longer works part-time as a tutor at the cram school this year, so she chatted with Teacher Zhu for a long time. Seeing that the time was almost up, Jia Xiaomin explained to Teacher Zhu the purpose of her visit today.
"He's only in fourth grade this year and he's already planning to go to middle school? Boss Du, you're being irresponsible to your child. What are you thinking?"
After listening to what Jia Xiaomin said, Teacher Zhu frowned and asked Comrade Lao Du. Even though the cram school was opened by Comrade Lao Du and he was Teacher Zhu's boss, Teacher Zhu was not polite at all when questioning Lao Du.
"Teacher Zhu, you misunderstood. Du Chen has already mastered most of the knowledge required for junior high school. It would be a waste of time for him to continue staying in elementary school. That's why we wanted him to go straight to junior high school!"
Although Teacher Zhu's tone was not polite at all, Lao Du still explained to Teacher Zhu respectfully. One reason was that he admired Teacher Zhu's character. No matter from which aspect, Teacher Zhu's remarks were for Du Chen's own good.
Another reason is that Teacher Zhu’s level is indeed high. It is the cram school that cannot do without Teacher Zhu, not Teacher Zhu that cannot do without the cram school.
"Xiao Jia, tell me the truth, is what Boss Du just said true? You're not lying to me, are you?"
"Teacher Zhu, it's true! I've already brought Du Chen here! Teacher Zhu, I know you're the one. I'll bring the person here so we can verify it!"
Jia Xiaomin moved aside, revealing Du Chen behind her.
"Okay, then I won't hold back! If your child really does well in his studies and has mastered the knowledge required for junior high school, I promise I'll arrange for him to transfer to another school!"
"If your child's grades aren't good, you should go back to where you came from and let your child continue to study in elementary school! Do you agree?"
Teacher Zhu also expressed his thoughts without hesitation.
Jia Xiaomin glanced at Comrade Lao Du and Du Chen, and seeing that neither of them objected, she spoke to Teacher Zhu.
"Then it's up to you, Teacher Zhu! You decide!"
"Come here, kid, I'll get you some papers to do, okay?"
Teacher Zhu was very friendly when facing Du Chen.
"Yes, teacher!"
Du Chen didn't dare to talk nonsense in front of Teacher Zhu. His own cram school is currently supported by him. He is a big source of money for his family and he dare not offend him.
Du Chen took the test paper obediently, found a table at random and sat there to start doing the test paper. Seeing this, Teacher Zhu gestured for several people to go out with her, and let Du Chen stay in the classroom to do the test paper by himself.
Du Chen looked at the math test in his hand and realized it was much harder than the two previous tests he had taken. It covered not only first-year math but also eighth- and ninth-year math. It looked like Teacher Zhu was going to give him a warning.
However, this level of difficulty wasn't a problem for Du Chen. After all, he had an adult mindset, and things that seemed difficult before, when he looked back on them as an adult, weren't as difficult as they seemed. Since his rebirth, Du Chen had never slacked off in his studies, so what seemed difficult to a middle school student was just average for him.
Teacher Zhu gave Du Chen two papers, one for math and one for English. Du Chen finished them in just over an hour. Du Chen left the classroom and found a few people chatting next door.
"Teacher Zhu, I've finished the test paper."
"That's pretty quick! Let me check it out first!"
As he spoke, Teacher Zhu went to the next room to get the papers to mark. After checking the answers, Teacher Zhu finished marking the two papers in just over ten minutes.
"Child, have you studied mathematics in the eighth and ninth grades?"
Looking at the math test paper with all the correct answers, Teacher Zhu asked Du Chen in surprise.
"Yes, teacher. When I had nothing to do, I looked at my brother's math textbook myself."
Du Chen was telling the truth. He really flipped through Du Bin's textbook carefully when he had nothing to do.
"Chenchen, have you also studied physics and chemistry on your own?"
On the other side, Jia Xiaomin also asked Du Chen in surprise.
"Well, I've seen it all, but not very comprehensively."
Du Chen answered Jia Xiaomin's questions modestly.
"Teacher Zhu, please wait a moment. I'll find two more physics and chemistry papers for Du Chen to work on!"
Hearing that Du Chen had also taught himself physics and chemistry, Jia Xiaomin also became interested. She immediately prepared to find two papers for Du Chen to do. She wanted to see what Du Chen's level was.
Hearing Jia Xiaomin's words, Du Chen felt a little bitter in his mouth. He had already done five papers today. If he did two more, it would be seven papers in one day. This was probably what the days before the high school entrance examination were like.
"That's great. I also want to see how good the child is. Son, are you willing to try again?"
"Why don't you just tell me that I don't need to do it, and ask me if I'd like to give it a try? Do you think I'd dare to refuse?"
Du Chen secretly complained in his heart, but spoke to Teacher Zhu.
"Okay, Mr. Zhu, I also want to see how I'm doing with my self-study. I'm sorry to take up your time."
"Good boy! But you're a little old for your age."
Teacher Zhu patted Du Chen's head, clearly pleased with his answer. He then remarked to Comrade Lao Du that Du Chen seemed a bit mature despite his youth.
"Teacher Zhu, this child has been like this since he was young, like a little adult. We as parents were once worried that he would be left without friends."
Comrade Lao Du explained to Teacher Zhu with a wry smile.
