Chapter 38 Parents' Meeting

"Brother, the midterm exam is tomorrow. How is your review going?" Du Chen asked his brother Du Bin while lying on the bed.

"It's okay, just prepare to pay." Even though he has an exam tomorrow, Du Bin did not relax. It seems that he has developed a habit of studying.

"Oh, you are so confident. Let's wait and see." Du Chen went to bed after saying that. It was almost ten o'clock and he was still growing and couldn't stay up late.

"You go to sleep, I'll read for a while." As he said that, Du Bin turned on the desk lamp and turned off the fluorescent light in the cabin.

The next morning, Du Chen and Du Bin were woken up by their mother to have breakfast.

"One fried dough stick and two eggs per person, and everyone should strive to get 100 points in the exam." No one knows where this rule came from, just like the enamel basin for storing lard, which can be unified across the country.

"You two should be more careful when doing the test papers. Be sure to check them after you finish them. Don't be in a hurry. Do you hear me?" Du Chen's mother kept on admonishing her two sons.

"Got it, Mom!" Du Chen and the other person answered in unison.

Soon, two days of the exam were over.

The time after the exam is the most stressful. Whether you're a good student or a bad student, the days of waiting for judgment are the most agonizing. And then there's the parent-teacher conference.

"Lao Du, are you going to the parent-teacher meeting or should I go?" Du Chen's mother asked Comrade Lao Du.

"It depends on the time. If you have time, you go. If I have time, I go." Comrade Lao Du can go, but usually Du Chen's mother goes more often.

Du Chen's mother was very thoughtful and always communicated with the teacher. Comrade Du Chen was just there with an ear, listening and then leaving. When he got home and asked what the teacher said, he knew nothing.

"Forget it, I'll go when the time comes. If you ask me after you go, you won't know anything..." Du Chen's mother naggled again.

In the past two days, the midterm exam papers have been gradually graded. Du Chen only had two subjects, one Chinese and one math. He scored 100 in math and 98 in Chinese. He lost two points for describing the picture.

Du Bin's results for several subjects have come out, including 97 in mathematics, 85 in Chinese, and 95 in English. The results for physics, geography, and history have not yet been released.

"Son, you've made great progress! Keep up the good work!" Although Comrade Lao Du doesn't take care of the children much, he is still very happy to see Du Bin's achievements.

After all, Du Bin's grades in these subjects have improved a lot compared to last semester. They were basically hovering around 80 points before, and 60 or 70 points in Chinese were common.

"I think the remaining subjects are okay, except that I lost more points in Chinese reading comprehension and composition." Although Du Bin is quite satisfied, he is helpless about the lagging Chinese language.

"Brother, this is easy. Bring the test paper back and I'll tell you some tips."

Du Chen has his own method for Chinese. He used to lose a lot of points in reading comprehension, but later he summed up a set of experience, and Chinese became his best subject.

"Son, have you told me when the parent-teacher meeting will be held?" Du Chen's mother was also very happy.

"Mom, we have one class on Friday afternoon, and then we will have a parent-teacher meeting." Du Chen said to his mother.

"Mom, it's Saturday. We will have a parent-teacher meeting after the make-up classes on Saturday." Du Bin also said at this time.

"Okay, I got it. I'll go to the parent-teacher conference for you guys then."

"Wife, you go ahead and I'll look after the store." Comrade Lao Du also quickly interrupted.

Comrade Lao Du really doesn't want to go to the parent-teacher meeting. It's not that he is afraid that his child will be scolded by the teacher for his academic performance, but he really can't remember what the teacher said and instructed. When he gets home, he won't know anything his wife asks him, and they will have another quarrel. So it's better for his wife to go to the parent-teacher meeting herself.

In the blink of an eye, it was Friday afternoon. Du Chen's mother packed up and waited for Du Chen to enter the store before giving him some instructions.

"Son, you watch over the store first. I'm going to the parent-teacher conference."

"Okay, Mom. You go ahead. I'll look after the store."

There weren't many people leaving school today. After all, there was a parent-teacher meeting today. Students who didn't do well in the exam should go home and pretend to do well. If you don't do well in the exam and are still wandering around the streets, you are simply asking for trouble.

"Du Chen, I'm coming over. Let me watch the store with you."

At this time Liu Yi walked in.

"Aren't you going home?" Du Chen asked. During this period, Liu Yi came to play with Du Chen when he had nothing to do. Whenever Du Chen stayed in the store, he would stay there with him.

"My dad is at work and my mom is at a parent-teacher conference. There's no one there when I get home. I told my mom I'd come to your place and she'll come find me after the conference."

"Okay, then you should do your homework first."

After Du Chen finished speaking, he picked up a comic book and read it by himself. He had finished his homework when the get out of class was over.

"oh."

Liu Yi was still a little afraid of Du Chen, so he obediently took out his homework book and started doing it.

An hour later, Du Chen's mother returned. Apparently, the parent-teacher conference had already concluded. She was beaming with joy, evidently having received numerous compliments from the teacher.

"Liu Yi, you are here too." Du Chen's mother greeted Liu Yi when she saw him.

"Well, Auntie, I told my mom to wait here for her to go home together."

As he was speaking, a woman came in from outside.

"Mom, here it is." Liu Yi shouted to the woman.

"Hello, Auntie!" Du Chen also quickly greeted her.

"Oh, you must be Du Chen, hello." Liu Yi's mother said to Du Chen, then turned around and greeted Du Chen's mother.

"Sister, you must be Du Chen's mother, sorry to bother you. Liu Yi told me that he'll be spending the whole day with you guys..."

"It's okay, it's okay. We are all good friends. Liu Yi is also a good boy. He is obedient and takes care of Du Chen..." Du Chen's mother also blurted out the good words.
