It was a nice day. The children had all gone to school and the men had all gone to work. Several housewives were knitting and chatting in front of the building.
"Hey, have you heard? The second son of the Du family published an article. I heard he has money. I wonder if it's true?"
The building where Du Chen and his classmates live has been very lively in the past couple of days, because people heard that Du Chen had published an article in his second year of school, which added some excitement to the originally dull days.
"That's right, it's Du Chen, the second son of the Du family in the Engineering Section, who lives downstairs from me. He's one year older than my Zhiqiang, and we grew up together. That kid has never been a worry since he was young." The mother of Zhang Zhiqiang, Du Chen's childhood friend, said enviously.
"Did Du Chen's mother tell you that?" asked an aunt from the next unit.
"No, it was our child's head teacher who told the class that everyone should study hard and learn from Du Chen. Our child came back and told me and his father about it. Later I went to Du Chen's house to ask his mother, and I saw the composition he wrote, and it was really well written." Zhiqiang's mother explained.
"Oh, look at other people's kids, and look at my gray monkey (local dialect, meaning naughty), all he does all day is play and watch TV, and he got the last place in the final exam last time. If he wasn't five or six years older than Du Chen, I would also let my child play with Du Chen and learn from him." said the aunt next to her.
"Speaking of which, Du Chen is really enviable. He's never had his parents worry about him since he was little. Every day after school, he goes home and finishes his homework before playing or watching TV. He even helps his mom clean."
"During the holidays, our Zhiqiang went out to play with others. He wouldn't go out until he finished his homework. He also read books every day and managed his time very well. He always ranked among the top in the grade in the exams." Zhiqiang's mother and the women around her said.
"Didn't you ask how their parents raised their children?" someone asked curiously.
"I've asked, and they said they didn't really care about him. His child is naturally sensible and obedient. His eldest son, Du Bin, is also naughty. He is also disobedient one day and often gets beaten." Zhiqiang's mother replied.
"That's innate. Look at him. He will be blessed in the future," said the woman next to him.
"No need to wait. The manuscript fee this time was twenty yuan, and he handed it in directly." Zhiqiang's mother said enviously.
"Tsk tsk tsk, look at him. My brat is lucky enough to not ask me for pocket money."
While everyone was chatting, Du Chen's mother came out of the house with a basket of vegetables, ready to go to the market to buy some vegetables and eggs, as they were running out of food at home.
"Hey, is Chenchen's mom going out to buy groceries?" asked Zhiqiang's mother.
"Well, there are no vegetables left at home. Let's go out and buy some vegetables and eggs. Do you want to go together?" Du Chen's mother asked.
"I won't go. I told Zhiqiang's dad this morning and asked him to bring some food when he gets home from get off work at noon."
Nowadays, no one is willing to buy a refrigerator. Basically, everything is bought at the market, and the rest is to buy something that can be stored for a long time.
"Chenchen's mom, how do you and your wife usually educate your children? I heard that Chenchen published an article?" asked the aunt from the next-door unit, still hoping that other families had some educational methods that she could try at home.
"What article? It's just an essay. He just got lucky." Du Chen's mother said modestly.
"We don't really control our child. As long as he doesn't act out of line, we let him do whatever he wants and let him do it on his own," Du Chen's mother explained.
"You two are so generous. Your child studies well and is very obedient." Whether it was sincere or fake, the aunt next to her complimented.
"What's there to be concerned about? Don't worry about the second child. I'm all about the eldest. It's all the same. So you guys sit down first. I'm going to the market first. We'll talk later." Du Chen's mother was about to end the conversation. They were late at the market, the vegetables were stale, and there were only a few small eggs left. So Du Chen's mother was a little anxious.
"Okay, okay, go quickly, we'll talk later." Everyone around echoed.
Looking at the back of Du Chen's mother, everyone's eyes revealed a hint of envy. When people reach middle age, isn't it all about comparing with their children?
Among the teachers of Class 1, Grade 2.
"Du Chen, tell us how you accumulate knowledge and how you came up with the idea of writing an essay."
Our homeroom teacher, Mr. Wu, left half of the class free today. He first read Du Chen's composition aloud to everyone, and then asked Du Chen to stand up and talk about it to everyone.
"Okay, teacher." Du Chen stood up confidently, ready to show off with his classmates. Well, keep happiness for yourself and give pain to others.
If Du Chen had a system, he would probably receive a lot of envy and jealousy.
"I usually like reading. The more I read, the more I naturally have the idea of writing. So everyone can read more, and observe more..." Du Chen said a lot of things.
"Of course the most important thing is that you have to be reborn like me." At the end, Du Chen silently added a big truth in his heart.
"That's right. You should all learn from Du Chen. Although you haven't learned how to write essays yet, you can keep a diary. In this way, everyone can write a diary every day in the future, writing about the little things that happen to you every day. Finally, let's applaud Du Chen." Teacher Wu said to the students.
Du Chen shamelessly accepted the applause from his classmates, then returned to his seat amidst the applause, ignoring the murderous looks from the boys around him. Writing a diary entry every day was just a piece of cake. The admiring looks from the girls around him made Du Chen feel a little flattered. It turned out that happiness is built on the suffering of others.
