Chapter 4 She felt guilty

Just thinking about it.

Suddenly, there was the sound of a bicycle at the gate of the courtyard, and a young man in his thirties with a tanned face, looking thin but full of energy, rode in on a bicycle.

"Mom, what's wrong with you?"

It was her eldest son, Li Hongwei.

Zhao Xueyan was just coming out with Li Yujie who looked unhappy. When she saw Li Hongwei, she called out, "Uncle."

Li Hongwei nodded, looked at Li Yujie, and said in a much more severe tone: "Jiejie, why are you still at home? Your elder sister has gone to school. If you don't go now, you will be late."

"I'll go right now." Li Yujie was a little afraid of this cold-faced uncle, so she ran away quickly.

Li Hongwei then parked his bicycle and walked up to Chen Xiaoying.

"Mom, what do you want me to do?"

He had a bad tone.

Chen Xiaoying knew why he treated her like this as a mother, because he had something against her.

He had always been dissatisfied with her and the old man for favoring her sister Li Hongyan. He had lost his relationship with her ten years ago, but he was a cold-hearted person and had never done so. He really ignored the old couple.

When she was hit by a sheep, he hurriedly carried her to the pharmacy and paid for the medicine. When her sheep got sick, he found someone to treat them. When she was unable to work and the sheep had no grass to eat, he asked his eldest daughter-in-law to carry a large basket and bring them to her.

When it was time to sell the sheep, he had nothing to do. His eldest daughter Li Hongyan came, sold the sheep, packed the money, and left.

She deserved her son to dislike her.

She also felt very guilty.

"Boss."

When I think back to when she died, the other children all blamed their eldest son for being unfilial.

"It's better for us to raise a dog than to raise him. A dog knows how to wag its tail."

The third brother even grabbed a fruit knife from the table and wanted to settle the score with the eldest brother.

She felt aggrieved for her boss.

"Why are you crying? Just say what you want to say." Li Hongwei frowned when he saw his mother crying. "Xueyan is watching here. I'm not angry with you. Stop crying."

Fortunately, the third son's wife was there to testify that he did not get angry with her. Otherwise, the second son and his friends would call and say that he was unfilial.

Zhao Xueyan was washing the pot on the side, and she was also a little puzzled. Her mother-in-law was not right today, as if she was possessed by evil spirits. She actually gave money to her granddaughters and didn't glare at her.

"What happened to our mom?"

Chen Xiaoying couldn't stop crying, so Li Hongwei asked Zhao Xueyan.

Zhao Xueyan remembered the words she had used to curse her mother-in-law, and her heart skipped a beat. She said guiltily, "Brother, it has nothing to do with me. I didn't do anything to her."

Li Hongwei thought about it and felt that he knew it. He said coldly: "Did she take the money? I can't get it back from you. Don't look for me."

He thought that his elder sister Li Hongyan had taken the money from selling the sheep. His mother remembered that she needed to buy something but had no money, so she wanted to ask him to go and get it back.

This kind of thing happened before. Li Hongyan refused to give it to him and even pointed at his nose and scolded him: I think it’s not what our mother wants, but what you want.

Li Hongwei couldn't stand this injustice.

When Chen Xiaoying heard this, she knew that the boss had misunderstood, and she wiped her tears and said, "No, no, I didn't ask her to take the money from the sheep sale this time. It's all with me."

"I'm looking for you because I have something to ask."

"I just want you to call the second brother and tell them that your sister is not allowed to borrow money from them in the future. Life is not easy for everyone."

The third brother's family still lives in the same yard with her, and the second brother built two mud houses but they leak badly.

Li Hongwei thought his mother asked him to come back for some reason, but when he heard this, his face immediately fell.

"Mom, if you want to make this call, go ahead and make it. If I make the call, not only will it be useless, but I will also have to ask them to say that I didn't let them borrow it. They will hate me to death."

Chen Xiaoying thought about it and felt that this was true.

"Okay, then you push the cart and take me to the store to make a phone call."

"I'm not going." Li Hongwei didn't want to go.

He dragged her away, and when his sister Li Hongyan found out, she still said that he was the one who instigated it.

After hearing this and looking at her eldest daughter's expression, Chen Xiaoying realized that she had underestimated the influence of her married eldest daughter in the family.

Except for the eldest son, her other three sons were all very obedient to their eldest sister Li Hongyan.

If Li Hongyan said east, they didn't dare to go west.

When he got angry, he pointed at their noses and called them cowards, but they all listened with their heads down.

"Okay, if you don't go, then I'll go. I'll go."

Chen Xiaoying also knew that the current boss didn't know how cruel and vicious his sister Li Hongyan was, and she didn't want to have a conflict with her over money.

Li Hongwei was stunned for a moment, then saw his mother looking for a stick from the corner, and then stumbling out with the stick.

Li Hongwei couldn't bear it, so he pushed the cart over and said, "Come on, I'll push you."

Only then did Chen Xiaoying, with the help of the eldest brother, sit on the back seat of the bicycle.

Zhao Xueyan's eyes widened, completely confused as to what was going on with her mother-in-law today.

The eldest brother pushed the bicycle and met a group of people living there on the way.

"Sister-in-law, where are you going?"

Chen Xiaoying smiled and replied, "Go to the pharmacy to change the medicine."

Li Hongwei looked at his mother. He had never seen his mother be sensible before.

They said they were going to the pharmacy, and when no one was around, the mother and son went into a nearby grocery store.

"Did she fall like this? You need to take good care of yourself. Hongwei, do you want to buy some canned food for your mother?" Looking at the piece of white gauze on Chen Xiaoying's head, the owner of the grocery store, Old Wang, was shocked and started chatting with Li Hongwei again.

Li Hongwei smiled dryly and honestly: "Oh, then buy two bottles."

"Can two bottles be eaten?" Old Wang said. People who do business just want to sell more goods.

"I just came back from working in the fields and I have no money in my pocket." Li Hongwei smiled awkwardly.

Old Wang took a look and saw that he was indeed covered in dirt. He had been weeding in the wheat field these days.

I won’t say more.

"I don't eat canned food. It's cold and gives me a stomachache. I just want a bag of bread." Chen Xiaoying said, and then looked at her phone: "I'll call my second son."

"Then call me." Old Wang smiled and realized that this was a phone call, not a purchase.

These days, apart from the village chief's house, only the grocery store has a telephone in the village.

Chen Xiaoying dialed the number.

After waiting for a long time, the people in the factory office finally called the second child and he answered the phone: "Mom, what's wrong? I heard from my sister that you fell, are you okay?"

When Chen Xiaoying heard the second son's voice, her nose felt sore again. These were her own sons born from her belly, so they were not unfilial.

They are all stupid and only listen to his elder sister.

Look, neither she nor the eldest daughter told him, but he already knew that she fell. It must have been the eldest daughter who told him.

"It's okay. Your eldest brother has taken me to look around. I just came to tell you that the old house is leaking badly. I plan to repair it. If it can't be repaired, I will rebuild it. You and the third brother don't spend your salary carelessly. Transfer it back to me and keep it." Chen Xiaoying knew that if she didn't get the money, they would still lend the money to their eldest sister Li Hongyan.
