Chapter 1019: Apology

"What's the matter?" Zhou Xi quickly stood up and walked to the door.

"Brother Zhou, Director Liu from the Security Bureau is at the door asking to see the general." Xiao Li saluted Zhou Xi and said.

Zhou Xi bared his teeth. Every time he heard such a "young" address, Zhou Xi would feel a little uncomfortable. He was an old man, but he was called "brother" in his old age. Before, Xiao Li and the others all called Zhou Xi "Butler Zhou". But there was nothing he could do. After all, he had regained his youth and even his appearance had changed!

"Xiao Li, let Liu Jingye in!" General Zhou spoke before Zhou Xi could say anything.

"Yes, General." Xiao Li turned around, saluted General Zhou, then turned around and trotted out.

"Grandpa, was it Liu Jingye yesterday?" Zhou Zhixin asked quietly after Xiao Li left. Zhou Zhixin remembered what General Zhou had said not long ago, "Someone will come to apologize." Does Liu Jingye's arrival mean that it was Liu Jingye who offended his grandfather yesterday?

"Yes and no." General Zhou smiled and said.

General Zhou knew Liu Jingye was probably trying to make up for Zhang Jintao's stupidity. Ten minutes ago, General Zhou would have ignored Liu Jingye in his rage. But now! Forget it! He didn't have the time to dwell on this, so he decided to just give Liu Jingye some face.

Liu Jingye stood at the door of General Zhou's house, glanced at Zhang Jintao, who was hunched over like a quail, and couldn't suppress the anger in his heart.

Zhang Jintao is the cousin of Liu Jingye’s wife Yu Fanghua, and he rose step by step from the countryside.

When Zhang Jintao was working in the local area, Liu Jingye felt that he was very talented and capable, so he spent a lot of effort to get Zhang Jintao to work under him so that Zhang Jintao could help him.

Last night, Zhang Jintao went to the Liu family in a huff and puff and talked about his trip to the Zhou family tonight. Finally, Zhang Jintao even talked about how he squeezed General Zhou in a smug tone.

Liu Jingye was almost scared to death by Zhang Jintao.

Squeezing out General Zhou? Even the top leader wouldn't do such a thing. Does Zhang Jintao think he's even more powerful than the top leader? Or does Zhang Jintao no longer want to work in the system and is deliberately doing something so utterly ruthless?

This is Kyoto! Not the provincial capital my brother-in-law used to live in. The sayings like "people get cold when they leave" and "you're no longer in charge after you retire" don't exist in Kyoto.

Even if the big bosses in Kyoto City have retired, no one dares to act rudely in front of them.

Not to mention General Zhou. Given the contributions General Zhou had made to the country and the people, Zhang Jintao wouldn't have to do anything if he offended him. There were plenty of people who could deal with him. Did Zhang Jintao really think that General Zhou's titles of "Military God" and "Stabilizing Force" were just for show?

Liu Jingye spent the better part of the evening berating his brother-in-law, Zhang Jintao, and then another half explaining to Zhang Jintao which people in Kyoto City he shouldn't offend. The whole conversation left Liu Jingye's mouth dry and his throat hoarse. Mistake, mistake! If he'd known Zhang Jintao would cause such a mess, Liu Jingye wouldn't have kept it to himself. He would have shown Zhang Jintao his collection of "Two or Three Things You Must Know About the Bigwigs of Kyoto City."

Alas! His brother-in-law is talented, but unfortunately his vision is too narrow. As long as it involves General Zhou's family, others would not even bother to hide, so how could Zhang Jintao be so stupid as to dare to come and provoke him?

For the rest of the night, Liu Jingye lay in bed sighing, unable to fall asleep even though he wanted to.

After waiting for a long time until dawn, Liu Jingye paced around the house for several hours. Finally, it was around nine o'clock. Liu Jingye thought that General Zhou must have gotten up and had breakfast by now, and he would be free, so he took Zhang Jintao to General Zhou's house to apologize.

Liu Jingye has reached his current position not only because of his ability to get things done, but also because of his kind-hearted mind.

"General Zhou, I'm really sorry. My brother-in-law was ignorant and talked nonsense yesterday, which caused you trouble." As soon as Liu Jingye entered the door, he quickly placed a few bottles of Feitian Moutai and some nourishing supplements such as ginseng and antlers in front of the Zhou family's entrance. He walked forward a few steps and bowed deeply to General Zhou.

Zhang Jintao no longer had the arrogance he had yesterday. After bowing with Liu Jingye, he raised his hand and gave himself a loud slap in the face. He said, "It's my stinky mouth that can't speak. I hope you, General, will be magnanimous and not blame my brother-in-law."

"Director Liu, what are you doing? My grandfather is old and can't stand being frightened!" Zhou Zhixin saw Liu Jingye and Zhang Jintao's behavior, and stood up with a "whoosh" and asked.

Liu Jingye and Zhang Jintao's behavior upon entering the room truly shocked and infuriated Zhou Zhixin. They'd even resorted to such tactical tactics as slapping themselves in the face. Were they simply out to piss people off? After this "apology," would they then go around spreading rumors about General Zhou's unforgiving nature?

"Oh! I'm old and my health is not good! I got up early this morning and now I feel sleepy!" General Zhou seemed not to see the slap from Zhang Jintao, and ignored what Liu Jingye and Zhang Jintao said, and muttered to himself.

"Master, you have a bad temper and you didn't sleep well last night because you were irritated by someone! Go upstairs and get some rest! Your health is important." Zhou Xi quickly helped General Zhou up, pretending to be escorting him upstairs. Zhou Xi's words were full of meaning. He didn't sleep well last night because he was irritated by someone. Who else could this person be but Zhang Jintao?

"It's all my fault. I didn't teach him well. I'm really sorry." Liu Jingye took a step forward and wanted to hold General Zhou's hand, but Zhou Xi blocked his way by turning his body.

"Zhixin! Please entertain the guests well on behalf of your grandfather. I, an old man, won't stay here and cause trouble for others." After General Zhou gave an order to Zhou Zhixin, he left the living room with the help of Zhou Xi without even looking at Liu Jingye and Zhang Jintao.

"This...this..." Zhang Jintao's eyes darted towards Liu Jingye. He wasn't trying to blackmail General Zhou, was he? He was really afraid of causing trouble for his brother-in-law, so he slapped himself. "Hiss!" If he had known it wouldn't work, he wouldn't have hit him so hard. It hurt so much, so why did General Zhou get angry?

Liu Jingye glanced at his brother-in-law who had "automatically added scenes" and was truly at a loss for words. He should have apologized properly, but why did his brother-in-law contradict himself? Did his brother-in-law have a problem with his brain after watching too many movies?
