Chapter 246 Witness

"Then tell me, what did you see on the night eight days ago?" Lao Jiang stared at Li Chunjiao's eyes, as if he wanted to see something from her eyes.

"Comrade Public Security, this is what happened..." Li Chunjiao was quite frank and told him everything she had seen that night. God knows, that scene often appeared in Li Chunjiao's mind these days, and Li Chunjiao had long wanted to find someone to talk to.

That day, Zhou Zhixin went home to visit Wu Jinfeng, and Li Chunjiao was also at home. However, Zhou Zhigang sent Li Chunjiao to bed shortly after dark. He and Zhou Chunping were whispering to each other and did not return to their room until very late.

Li Chunjiao woke up after a nap because she had to pee. There was a urinal in the room, so she didn't have to go to the toilet outside in the middle of winter.

After getting up at night, Li Chunjiao heard voices outside. Curious, she stood by the window and looked out. What she saw was Zhou Zhixin being chased by Zhou Chunping and his son and being hit on the head with a stick.

Li Chunjiao was so frightened that she dared not make any sound. She lay back on the bed in a daze, and heard Zhou Chunping's low voice saying something like "Is he dead?", and then there was the sound of the Zhou family's door opening and closing.

After Zhou Chunping and his son left, Li Chunjiao secretly went to the yard to take a look and saw a wooden stick lying on the ground with bloodstains on it.

Did they beat Zhou Zhixin to death? Li Chunjiao hid the stick with trembling hands. Zhou Chunping and his son, perhaps unwilling to recall it or for some other reason, had both forgotten about the stick.

From that day on, Zhou Zhixin never showed up again. Li Chunjiao was shocked, but she didn't dare to ask Zhou Zhigang what happened that night.

In Li Chunjiao's heart, Zhou Zhixin was already dead, killed by Zhou Chunping and Zhou Zhigang.

Li Chunjiao had hidden the wooden stick carefully. Zhou Zhixin was the younger brother of Zhou Chunping's son, Zhou Zhigang. Both father and son had committed such a ruthless act. Her daughter-in-law was only a stranger. If she knew they had discovered what they had done that night, would she kill them to silence them? Li Chunjiao was afraid and didn't dare to bring up the matter of the wooden stick.

The next morning, after Liu Moli was caught cheating, Li Chunjiao heard the "joke" of several of her family members mistaking the wrong person for someone else at Widow He's house. Li Chunjiao's heart felt like it had fallen into an ice cave, and it was very cold.

Li Chunjiao was almost certain that there was a conspiracy against Zhou Zhixin at the Zhou family last night. Fortunately, Zhou Zhixin was not in Liu Moli's bed. Instead, he caught Zhou Daniu, an old bachelor from Zhoujia Village, in Liu Moli's bed.

For the next few days, Li Chunjiao was in a daze until she smelled Zhou Zhigang's long hair and the smell of cold cream. Only then did she wake up.

These past few days, the Zhou Zhigang and Zhou Jiaxing incidents had been a torment for Li Chunjiao. Today, Li Dafu had come to the Zhou family to support her, and Li Chunjiao had finally made up her mind to stay away from them. She had her hands and feet, and the Zhou family's reputation was too corrupt. If she let her two children stay, she didn't know if they would end up like her eldest son, Zhou Jiaxing.

"Li Chunjiao, is everything you said above true? You must be responsible for your testimony." After Li Chunjiao finished speaking, Lao Jiang asked again.

"I promise that everything I said is true, otherwise, I will be struck by lightning." Li Chunjiao quickly made an oath.

Old Jiang knew that rural people often talked about God and other things, so he didn't deliberately correct the superstitious thoughts in Li Chunjiao's words. After reading Xiao Zhang's record and finding no problems, he handed it to Li Chunjiao for her to sign.

Li Chunjiao graduated from elementary school, so Xiao Zhang could still understand the records. After reading them, Li Chunjiao signed her name below as requested by Lao Jiang, and also stamped a bright red fingerprint.

After dealing with Li Chunjiao, Lao Jiang summoned Li Dafu to the main hall and gave him a good scolding. Li Dafu and his men had smashed Zhou Chunping's kitchen. He was supposed to pay compensation, but the three men in the Zhou family were handcuffed by the police on suspicion of murdering Zhou Zhixin. Of the remaining women, Wu Jinfeng fainted when Lao Jiang entered the house, and the only one left, Gu Dahua, was so busy holding Zhou Zhiqiang's hand and sobbing that she had no time to ask Li Dafu for compensation on behalf of Zhou Chunping.

Since no one came forward, Lao Jiang gave Li Dafu a lesson and waved his hand to let him take his family members, along with Li Chunjiao and her son, and leave Zhou Chunping's house. Something was going to happen in Zhou Chunping's house, and Lao Jiang didn't want too many people to see it.

Zhou Jiaqin didn't want to leave at first, but when he saw the police officers all over the yard and the three men of the Zhou family handcuffed, Zhou Jiaqin followed Gu Dahua and left.

Old Jiang then had the village chief, Zhou Hongming, come out and persuade the onlookers to leave. Soon, the noisy Zhou family returned to peace. However, what happened in Zhou Chunping's family today would be enough for the villagers of Zhoujia Village to chew on for years.

Lao Jiang had just finished clearing the area when Wen Ziqing came from the backyard to the front yard carrying someone in his hand.

When Wen Ziqing passed by Zhou Chunping, Zhou Chunping saw most of the man's face and turned pale with fright.

The man Wen Ziqing had captured was Old K, the henchman of the nobleman Zhou Chunping had met. A few days earlier, Old K had come to Zhoujia Village to reprimand Zhou Chunping. At that time, Old K had been full of energy and looked like a successful man.

At this moment, Old K in Wen Ziqing's arms had his eyes tightly closed, as if he had fainted. What shocked Zhou Chunping the most was how haggard Old K looked. After not seeing him for a few days, Old K seemed to have lost a lot of weight, even his cheeks had sunken.

Zhou Chunping opened his mouth to say something, but Wen Ziqing had already walked into the main room carrying Old K.

In the main room, Lao Jiang saw clearly the person Wen Ziqing was holding in his hand and couldn't help but laugh!

No wonder the director repeatedly told Lao Jiang before departure that they would be able to accomplish great things today. It turned out that there really was such a "great achievement" waiting for them!

Lao K is a wanted criminal in Yuyuan County. A few days ago, a major case of material fraud in the supply and marketing cooperative was solved by the Sanhe Town Police Station. Except for Lao K who came from another place, all the people involved in the case were arrested.

Yuyuan County issued a wanted order for Old K. Old K was quite good at hiding; no one had found him in all these days.

However, judging by Old K's appearance, he must have suffered quite a bit. Bruise marks were visible on Old K's face, perhaps from Wen Ziqing's beatings during his resistance. It was unclear how Wen Ziqing had done it, but Old K's head was drooping, clearly in a coma.

As Wen Ziqing approached Lao Jiang, he felt a strange smell coming from his nose. Lao Jiang frowned and observed for a moment, realizing that the strange smell came from Lao K.

"Caught him from the tunnel?" Lao Jiang had a keen nose. There was a damp and earthy smell on Lao K's body, so Lao Jiang made this guess.

"Yeah." Wen Ziqing nodded and said nothing more, nor did he take the opportunity to tell Lao Jiang about the difficulties he encountered in catching Lao K.
