Chapter 472: Fight Back

Looking at the morning glow covering the tops of the eastern mountains, Su Niang felt the urge to go for a walk in the mountains.

As far as Su Niang knew, no villagers dared to go to the high mountains behind Lingshan. It was said that there were large ferocious animals such as jackals, tigers and leopards there, and no villagers who had gone there survived.

Looking at the towering mountains and thinking about the large animals that could be turned into food and money, Su Niang felt her blood flowing faster. She knew that this was a feeling called desire, which was even stronger than the desire for food when she was hungry.

When Su Niang returned home, Li Wangcai and Li Chenshi were one carrying thatch and the other repairing the roof. They were both cursing. They didn't dare to mention the mountain goddess. The target of their curses was Su Niang, who had gone to the river to wash clothes yesterday evening and never came back.

"Oh my! You damn little whore, you spent half a day and a whole night washing a few pieces of clothes. Did you wash to the horizon?" Li Chen saw Su Niang standing at the door. She dropped the straw in her hand with an "Ah" and rushed towards the door where Su Niang was standing while cursing.

"You little bitch, I'll teach you a lesson later! I'll strip you..." Li Wangcai on the roof stared at Su Niang with his small eyes and cursed her viciously.

Before Li Wangcai could finish his scolding, there was a loud bang. Li Chenshi pounced on Su Niang, but was kicked by Su Niang into a large vat at the foot of the wall.

"You rascal." At this time, Li Wangcai finally uttered the last word of his curse.

"My son, save me." Li Chen's muffled voice came from the big vat.

It was a pickle jar, about the height of a man. Luckily, the mouth wasn't too big or too small, just enough for Li Chenshi's head to fit through. With her sturdy shoulders, she narrowly avoided being dumped into the jar like a scallion by Su Niang. Even so, Li Chenshi was still in a difficult situation. The pickles in the jar were aged and had a slightly rancid smell. Even though there was only so much left at the bottom of the jar, the stench was no less than that of a rice field in a toilet. Li Chenshi had barely cried out when she felt the stench fill her nostrils and mouth.

Li Wangcai could see clearly from the rooftop that his thin and weak young wife slightly turned her body when his mother Li Chen rushed over, and kicked his mother into the pickle jar with a flying kick.

Li Wangcai was stunned. He had never thought that his weak young wife would hit someone. Over the years, no matter how he and his mother oppressed her, Qiu Suniang had never resisted. Suddenly seeing Qiu Suniang standing up, Li Wangcai thought he was dreaming.

"My son, save me!" Li Chen's cry for help rang out again, waking up Li Wangcai who was in a daze on the roof.

Li Wangcai slid down from the roof in a few steps along the wooden ladder leaning against the wall. Without bothering to find trouble with Su Niang, he grabbed his mother, Li Chenshi, whose legs were kicking wildly on the pickle jar, and pulled her out of the jar like pulling a carrot.

At this time, Su Niang didn't even look at the mother and son who were busy. She walked into the house leisurely, threw the empty basket in her hand to the ground, and walked into her room.

"Son! I'm so scared!" Li Chen sat on the ground for a long time before she came to her senses and cried out.

Li Wangcai looked towards the door with a gloomy face. If Suniang had dared to do this in the past, Li Wangcai would have rushed in and beaten her up without a word. But today, Qiu Suniang made Li Wangcai feel very dangerous. He was weighing the pros and cons: should he go in and scold Suniang? Or should he tell his mother to shut up?

"You little whore, not only do you not come home at night, but you also dare to hit your mother-in-law. Oh my! You have a big basket of clothes, why didn't you bring back any of them? What's the point of raising a freeloader like you? I'll call the head of the village to come and throw you, a little whore, into a pig cage." Before Li Wangcai could think it over, Li Chen had already seen the empty basket that Su Niang had thrown aside, and she became excited.

Yesterday, Su Niang had taken all the clothes out for washing, except for the clothes they were wearing. And Su Niang had disappeared while washing clothes? This made Li Chenshi's heart ache as if it had been ripped out. She jumped up quickly and rushed to Su Niang's room.

With Li Wangcai around, Li Chenshi felt confident. Li Wangcai was a butcher in Xiushui Village, and he was naturally strong. Even three or five ordinary men in Xiushui Village were no match for Li Wangcai. This was one of the reasons why Li Chenshi had been able to run rampant in the village for the past few years.

Li Chen thought that she was pushed into the vat by Su Niang accidentally. No matter how powerful Su Niang was, she could not be as strong as Li Wangcai. They, mother and son, had to deal with Su Niang, so they had to make Su Niang beg for mercy today.

Ideals are beautiful, but reality is cruel.

As soon as Li Chen rushed into the room, the door slammed shut. Then, Li Wangcai heard the muffled sound of fists hitting flesh and the sound of "mumbling" from inside the room.

Li Wangcai was startled and rushed over. He had seen Su Niang's kick clearly; it was not only powerful but also perfectly timed. After not seeing him for a night, his delicate wife had transformed into a female demon. This struck Li Wangcai as somewhat uncanny, and even more worrying. Needless to say, the one who suffered the loss was definitely his mother.

Su Niang clenched her fists and struck Li Chenshi where it hurt the most. After a few blows, Li Chenshi was in so much pain that she couldn't even scream. Looking at her daughter-in-law, who looked like she was possessed by a demon, fear flashed in Li Chenshi's eyes. Li Chenshi didn't know why Su Niang had become like this. She only knew that if Su Niang continued to hit her, her old bones might be broken today.

Fortunately, Su Niang stopped after a few hits. She just wanted to vent her anger, not to beat the hateful old woman to death. Besides, the best way to get revenge on someone is not to kill them, but to make them live a life worse than death.

Huh? Who told her this? Why does it sound so familiar? Su Niang was stunned.

Su Niang had become much calmer about the occasional unfamiliar words. When Li Wangcai opened the door, Su Niang was already sitting on the edge of the bed, packing up the small package in her hands, while Li Chenshi lay on the floor, her face covered in tears and snot, her mouth open but unable to utter a single word.

Su Niang disliked Li Chenshi's noisy voice, so she sealed Li Chenshi's mute point while beating her. Now, Su Niang would not have to hear Li Chenshi's sharp voice for twelve hours.

Seeing Li Wangcai, Li Chen stretched out her hand to him tremblingly, her eyes full of expectation.

"Mom." Li Wangcai shouted and rushed in to help his mother up from the ground.
