Chapter 64 Zhou Jiaxing

"What secret?" Wu Jinfeng was surprised.

Zhou Miaomiao looked around but didn't see Zhou Jiaxing. She quickly leaned over to Wu Jinfeng's ear and whispered, "Big brother takes eggs from the chicken coop every day. I saw him."

"What?" Wu Jinfeng was furious. No wonder there was only one egg in the henhouse. Some days there was none at all. Before Zhao Yunxiang went back to her parents' home, there were at least three eggs every day.

"Grandma, big brother told me not to tell you that he sold his eggs for candy." Zhou Miaomiao once again expressed her loyalty to Wu Jinfeng, implying: Look! I'm on your side, and even Zhou Jiaxing's candy can't buy me off.

In Sanhe Town, Zhou Jiaxing was having breakfast with a few other scoundrels at a state-owned restaurant. Zhou Jiaxing was treating them all, each receiving a bowl of soy milk and half a pound of fried dough sticks, and they all ate with a mouthful of grease.

Suddenly, Zhou Jiaxing felt a chill on his back. He looked around hurriedly and didn't see anyone he knew, so he felt relieved.

When Zhou Jiaxing was in elementary school, the movement began. Town schools were better, but teachers in rural schools were insecure and unmotivated. Zhou Jiaxing spent a few years in the village school, skipping junior high school before returning home to farm.

A mischievous boy of twelve or thirteen worked in the production team, toiling away all day and night for only three cents a cent, less than ten cents. Zhou Jiaxing worked there for two weeks and then quit.

The Zhou family was well off, not lacking Zhou Jiaxing's wealth. Zhou Zhigang and his wife had always been indulgent towards their eldest son, so they let Zhou Jiaxing have fun for a few more years.

Zhou Jiaxing got along well with a few scoundrels in Sanhe Town. Gradually, he joined their gang.

Zhou Jiaxing hung out with a few second-rate guys for a while, eating and drinking at their expense all day long, while his pockets were cleaner than his face.

After a long time, those scoundrels became unhappy and asked Zhou Jiaxing to treat them to a meal, even if it was just breakfast. Otherwise, they asked Zhou Jiaxing not to play with them anymore.

Zhou Jiaxing had no money in his pocket. His mother Li Chunjiao kept all the money in the family very carefully. Zhou Jiaxing searched for it several times but couldn't find it, so he had to turn his attention to Wu Jinfeng's chicken coop.

After Zhao Yunxiang returned to her parents' home, the west wing was deserted day and night. Every morning, Zhou Jiaxing would steal eggs from the chicken coop. First, one, then two, then three. Over a month, he had collected fifty eggs, which he sold at the market for two yuan and fifty cents.

So, early in the morning, Zhou Jiaxing gathered a few of his "brothers" and ran to the state-owned restaurant for breakfast. When the scoundrels saw that Zhou Jiaxing had really got the money, they all smiled and enjoyed this "luxurious" breakfast.

In the state-owned restaurant in Sanhe Town, a bowl of soy milk costs five cents, and half a pound of fried dough sticks costs forty cents. The cost of one person's breakfast is enough to cover the food expenses for a family of four in the town for a whole day.

In Zhoujia Village, Wu Jinfeng gnashed her teeth, her head spinning with righteous indignation. When had her eldest grandson started stealing?

Wu Jinfeng didn't doubt that Zhou Miaomiao's words were false. Zhou Jiaxing was the eldest son and grandson of the Zhou family, seven years older than Zhou Miaomiao. Normally, Zhou Miaomiao and Zhou Jiaxing had no interactions. In the Zhou family, Zhou Jiaxing held the highest position among the grandchildren. Zhou Miaomiao wouldn't, and wouldn't, dare to, frame Zhou Jiaxing. After all, a confrontation between the two would reveal everything.

"Here." Wu Jinfeng was reluctant to part with the egg. After squeezing it for a moment, she finally handed it to Zhou Miaomiao. Of her grandchildren, Zhou Miaomiao was the most discerning and understood Wu Jinfeng's heart the best. She would secretly observe everything going on in the family, big or small, and report it to Wu Jinfeng behind her back. Needless to say, in the Zhou family, Wu Jinfeng really needed an "eye" like Zhou Miaomiao.

"Grandma, I also saw Third Aunt bring back a lot of food from her parents' home." After getting the eggs she had been longing for day and night, Zhou Miaomiao happily told Wu Jinfeng the secret again.

"Okay, grandma knows. Miaomiao is a good child." Wu Jinfeng was thinking about Zhou Jiaxing's affairs. As for Zhao Yunxiang, Wu Jinfeng had not yet thought of a way to make trouble for her.

Her eldest grandson! What should she do? Oh, right, get Zhimei home right away. When Zhimei was taking over, she promised to find work for her nephews and nieces in the county town. Jiaxing is turning 15 this year and works as a factory worker, so it's time for Zhimei to contribute. If she lets her eldest grandson continue to mess around like this, something bad will happen sooner or later!

Wu Jinfeng made up her mind, not caring about banging sticks, cursing Zhao Yunxiang and her son, and turned around and hurried to the east wing. She had to ask the old man to go to the county town and ask Zhimei to come back home.

Zhou Miaomiao held the hard-earned egg in her hand, thinking that she would be able to eat the fragrant frangipani in a while, and her saliva flowed to the corners of her mouth.

Feeling a line of coldness on her chin, Zhou Miaomiao belatedly swallowed a line of saliva that flowed out.

Zhou Miaomiao was so busy slurping her saliva that she didn't notice the scattered stones on the ground. Her footing slipped, and she fell flat on her face. What made Zhou Miaomiao even more frantic was that the egg she was holding flew up into the sky in a parabola as she fell, then fell to the ground and shattered.

Broken? Zhou Miaomiao looked at the yellow and white egg liquid mixed with the soil, was stunned for a moment, and then cried out "wow".

Her eggs! The frangipani she had been dreaming about for over a month, just like that, gone? Whenever Zhou Miaomiao thought about it, she felt that life was filled with sinister malice.

In the room, Zhou Yuanyuan looked at Zhou Miaomiao who was crying loudly, and a cold smile appeared at the corner of her mouth.

Serves you right! Serves you right! Seeing Zhou Miaomiao showing off just now, Zhou Yuanyuan wanted to discipline her, but she didn't expect that her servility would be punished someday. Before Zhou Yuanyuan could do anything, Zhou Miaomiao fell down.

"Yuanyuan, do you want to go out and take a look?" Zhao Yunxiang felt a little sorry when she heard Zhou Miaomiao crying.

Although Zhou Miaomiao is an annoying child, she is the elder and it is not right for her to just watch the child cry and ignore her.

"Mom, help me put a hairpin in there. I want to do a 3:7 split today." Zhou Yuanyuan handed over a shiny, translucent, red apple-shaped hairpin. If it weren't for the need to distract Zhao Yunxiang, Zhou Yuanyuan wouldn't have wanted to wear such a cute hairpin.

"Okay." Zhao Yunxiang listened to her daughter's request and automatically blocked out Zhou Miaomiao's voice in the yard. Yuanyuan was so adorable, and with the hairpin Zhixin had sent back from Province G, she looked even cuter. Zhao Yunxiang felt happy every time she saw it. Unfortunately, Yuanyuan hadn't wanted to wear the hairpin for over a month, saying she didn't want to.
