Chapter 672: Sad

Seeing Wen Ziqing staring at her with a cold gaze, He Jingjing quickly added, "Brother Ziqing, I promise you, I will never cause trouble for Zhou Yuanyuan in the future. As long as the two of us are always fine..."

"As long as the two of us are always fine..."

"As long as the two of us are always fine..."

He Jingjing's words echoed in Zhou Yuanyuan's ears, and the color drained from her face. Brother Ziqing and He Jingjing, the two of them? Are they really together? Is that so? No?

Zhou Yuanyuan stared at Wen Ziqing, who was only a few meters away, without blinking. No wonder Feng Xueying and Wu Xiuli had come to her house to forcefully break off the engagement; it turned out they'd known for a long time that Wen Ziqing had "fallen in love with someone else." No, that couldn't be said; she and Wen Ziqing had never been in love before; it was all just her wishful thinking. God knows, after returning from the secret realm, when Zhou Yuanyuan learned from her grandfather, Zhao Qingshan, that she and Wen Ziqing were engaged, she secretly rejoiced.

Three years had passed, three years without a single word from Wen Ziqing. Zhou Yuanyuan still mentally tried to comfort him, believing that Brother Ziqing must have been too busy cultivating at the beginning to forget to send a message. Even when the engagement was called off, Zhou Yuanyuan reasoned that Wen Ziqing wasn't to blame, that it was all Feng Xueying and the others' fault, and that Wen Ziqing, in the secret realm, must have been completely unaware. But reality dealt her a harsh blow. He Jingjing and Wen Ziqing? If Wen Ziqing didn't know the engagement was broken off, how could he be with He Jingjing?

Zhou Yuanyuan stood quietly, but her eyes were always on Wen Ziqing. She wanted Wen Ziqing to tell her in person that what He Jingjing said was all false, that he and He Jingjing had nothing to do with each other, and that He Jingjing was jealous of her and that was why she said such words that would cause her to misunderstand.

Wen Ziqing looked at Zhou Yuanyuan. Feeling awkward and bewildered after being exposed by He Jingjing, he didn't notice the ambiguous tone in He Jingjing's words for a moment. He wanted to go up and touch Zhou Yuanyuan's hair, just like he had done so often a few years ago. However, his feet felt like they were filled with lead, making him unable to move even a single step.

Yuanyuan, are you okay?

Yuanyuan, do you miss me?

Yuanyuan, I miss you so much.

······

A lot of words were rolling around on Wen Ziqing's tongue, but he couldn't open his mouth to say them.

Zhou Yuanyuan didn't wait for Wen Ziqing's explanation, but she clearly saw the guilty conscience in his eyes. Suddenly, Zhou Yuanyuan found her own persistence a little funny. After hearing He Jingjing's words of affection, did she really want to hear Wen Ziqing say it again? Zhou Yuanyuan had imagined countless times the scene of reuniting with Wen Ziqing, but she had never imagined that one day, she and Wen Ziqing would be speechless.

Brother Ziqing, it seems... you really don't want to see me! Since meeting is worse than not meeting, then... let's not meet! Then let everything go with the wind.

Zhou Yuanyuan smiled bitterly and turned away.

"Yuanyuan!" Cao Zhizhi screamed in surprise, quickly standing up and trying to chase after her. He had watched the fight between Zhou Yuanyuan and He Jingjing. He watched He Jingjing "conjure" a ball of fire out of thin air and shoot it towards him, watched Zhou Yuanyuan fly to block the fire, watched Zhou Yuanyuan "conjure" several ice knives out of thin air and shoot them at He Jingjing. Cao Zhizhi was so surprised that he couldn't even speak.

Although Cao Zhizhi wasn't a cultivator, he had been tempered by military service and was highly sensitive to danger. When the "flames" and "ice blades" appeared, Cao Zhizhi immediately sensed danger, but Zhou Yuanyuan's actions were incredibly quick. By the time He Jingjing was struck, Cao Zhizhi had already "called" Wen Ziqing out.

Zhou Yuanyuan and Wen Ziqing sat in silence for half a minute. Even though Zhou Yuanyuan didn't say anything, her sadness was still radiating from her. Cao Yizhi was closest to her, and the sadness she exuded made him want to cry. Fortunately, Zhou Yuanyuan turned and left; otherwise, it would have been embarrassing for Cao Yizhi, a grown man, to burst into tears in public without being able to control his emotions.

Seeing Zhou Yuanyuan leaving resolutely, Cao Zhizhi immediately stood up. He wanted to chase after her and tell her that there was not only one man like Wen Ziqing in the world. Wen Ziqing had hurt Yuanyuan's heart, and he, Cao Zhizhi, would not let her go.

Unfortunately, just as Cao Yizhi stood up, he was stopped by a waiter holding a tray. On the tray were six or seven glasses of drinks, which Cao Yizhi had just ordered specifically to "broaden his horizons."

The rule at the Qingxin bar was that customers had to pay the bill once they left their seats. The drinks Cao had just ordered were quite expensive, so if he "ran away" with them, the waiter would have to pay for them himself.

"Sir, please pay the bill before leaving." The waiter Xiaobai blocked Cao Yizhi's way and reminded him.

"Please move aside first. I'll come back to pay the bill later." Cao was getting anxious. Because of this delay, Zhou Yuanyuan's back had already reached the door of the hall.

"Excuse me, sir, please pay the bill now." Xiaobai didn't care whether Cao was in a hurry or not. He was concerned about whether his salary would be deducted. He had finally found a high-paying job like the "Qingxin" bar, and Xiaobai didn't want to be fired.

"Xiaobai, put these drinks on my bill." At this moment, Zhu Xiaojun rushed out to help Cao Zhizhi. Zhu Xiaojun was frightened. Wen Ziqing glanced at He Jingjing as he stood up. The murderous look in his eyes was so real that Zhu Xiaojun held his breath. Then, Wen Ziqing's eyes locked with Zhou Yuanyuan's. The inexplicable pressure made Zhu Xiaojun stand there in a daze, momentarily forgetting where he was.

The struggle between the waiter and Cao Yizhi broke Wen Ziqing's pressure, and Zhu Xiaojun finally regained his breath and helped Cao Yizhi out of the predicament.

Hearing Zhu Xiaojun's words, the waiter Xiaobai quickly made way. If the price of these drinks was not beyond his reach, Xiaobai would not have wanted to do such a thing. Cao's gloomy face was still very scary.

Because of this delay, when Cao chased out of the "Qingxin" bar, Zhou Yuanyuan was no longer at the door.

Would Yuanyuan be upset? Cao kept thinking about the deep sadness Zhou Yuanyuan had just felt, and couldn't help but worry about her. After all, she was only sixteen years old! Seeing her "ex-fiancé" fall in love with someone else, she would definitely be heartbroken, right?

Looking at the bustling streets, Cao was at a loss. Where would Yuanyuan go next? Which way should he chase her?

Cao didn't hesitate for long. He paused and then chased in the direction of the Zhou family mansion. Normally, when a girl feels sad, she should go home to seek comfort from her parents, right?
