Chapter 852: Bad Luck

Zhou Jiaxing walked with a limp, trying to take bigger steps and walk faster.

Zhou Jiaxing had long planned to escape Zhao Yunxiang's clutches. But once he finally escaped, he worried that Zhao Yunxiang might be playing hard to get. After all, Zhao Yunxiang now looked like a completely different person than she did ten years ago. If Zhao Yunxiang ten years ago was a kindhearted woman, now she was a shrewd businesswoman. Zhou Jiaxing himself didn't believe his excuse of "looking for someone" would convince Zhao Yunxiang to let him go.

Maybe it was because of his suspicion, but Zhou Jiaxing always felt like there was a pair of eyes watching him from behind, which made him feel uneasy.

Zhou Jiaxing turned around several times but didn't see anyone following him. It wasn't until he randomly jumped on a bus that the feeling of being watched disappeared.

Zhou Jiaxing didn't know that Zhou Yuanyuan had withdrawn her surveillance consciousness, and he thought he was being followed. Suspicious, Zhou Jiaxing changed several buses and took a long detour before returning to his and Gu Tiezhu's temporary residence.

Gutiezhu and Zhou Jiaxing lived in a residential complex called Lianhua Village, just two stops from the Yunyun Garment Factory. Gutiezhu rented a three-bedroom, one-living-room apartment, paying rent annually. Before returning to their hometown, Gutiezhu, Zhou Jiaxing, and Huangmao had lived there.

This time, Huangmao did not return to Kyoto City. Gutiezhu and Zhou Jiaxing came back together.

It wasn't that Huang Mao didn't want to come back, but Gu Tiezhu hadn't told Huang Mao when he was leaving. In fact, if it weren't for Gu Hongxing and the others' disappearance, and Zhou Jiaxing's threats, Gu Tiezhu would have wanted to stay in Zhaojiagou and not return to Jingdu.

Zhou Jiaxing was unlucky, after all. On the way back home, Huangmao was in high spirits, wondering when he'd return to Kyoto to make a killing. He didn't say it, but he was actually planning on not returning to Kyoto. He was getting old, and with a few thousand dollars to spare, finding a wife and living in his hometown was the right thing to do.

Sometimes, plans can't keep up with changes. Zhou Jiaxing never expected that his thousands of dollars would be completely stolen.

Zhou Jiaxing was furious, but he didn't dare call the police. Zhou Jiaxing's money wasn't earned legally, and if he called the police, they would definitely ask how he earned it. If they discovered what "business" Zhou Jiaxing was running in Kyoto, even if he had several lives, he would be dead.

Zhou Jiaxing had just been released from prison and didn't want to go back to that horrible place, so he had no choice but to accept the loss.

In reality, Zhou Jiaxing suspected that Zhou Chunping and his gang had stolen his money. After returning home, Zhou Jiaxing never boasted about his wealth; only his family could possibly have discovered where he hid his money. Zhou Jiaxing remembered that the food Wu Jinfeng cooked that night was particularly salty, and after drinking the water on the table, he felt incredibly sleepy as soon as it got dark. Zhou Jiaxing, always alert at night, slept exceptionally soundly that night, waking only at noon.

When Zhou Jiaxing woke up, he found that his money was gone. If he said that someone else had plotted against him, he really didn't have the ability to do that.

Zhou Jiaxing questioned the family several times, but no one admitted to taking his money. He then searched every room in the house, but still couldn't find any trace of the money.

Zhou Jiaxing was so angry that he had to force Gutiezhu to take him out to "return to his old job."

Thinking back to when Gutiezhu had been hesitantly saying he wanted to "retire from the underworld" in Jingyang City, Zhou Jiaxing couldn't help but sneer. Once a thief, always a thief, and he, Zhou Jiaxing, was a prime example. Having previously been convicted of thieves, Zhou Jiaxing was looked at strangely wherever he went in the village. People like them were like rats in the gutter. If Gutiezhu stopped doing evil and started doing good? He might even be called a fool!

Zhou Jiaxing stood at the gate of the community and smoked a cigarette. He looked around and found that no one was following him. Then he walked towards their rental house.

In the rental house, Gutiezhu was sitting in the living room smoking with a gloomy face. He had not expected to be discovered by the patrol team as soon as he entered the Yunyun Garment Factory.

Zhou Jiaxing didn't catch up, so he must have been caught by the patrol. Gu Tiezhu planned to wait a little longer, until after midnight. If Zhou Jiaxing still didn't return, he would find someone to find a way to bail him out.

The thought of going out to look for someone gave Gutiezhu a headache. Gutiezhu's network of connections was given to him by his boss. As long as Gutiezhu showed up, his boss would definitely be able to find him.

Before he found the big bag of "white powder", Gutiezhu really didn't want to show up in front of his boss. Gutiezhu knew his boss was a money-grubber and he didn't dare to think about the consequences if his boss knew that he had lost his things.

Gu Tiezhu regretted his soft-heartedness. If he hadn't been so focused on taking care of Zhou Jiaxing and Huang Weidong, how would they have known so much about the organization? This time, Zhou Jiaxing had coerced him back to Kyoto City, and Gu Tiezhu hadn't figured out his next move. Should he take this opportunity to eliminate Zhou Jiaxing, the hidden danger? Or should he really go see the boss? If he took this step again, Gu Tiezhu would be further and further away from the shore.

Before Gutiezhu could make a decision, there was movement at the door.

"Brother Gu, I'm back." After Zhou Jiaxing opened the door, he saw Gu Tiezhu with a gloomy face.

"It's good that you're back. I was just thinking about who to ask to go to the Public Security Bureau to bail you out!" When Gutiezhu saw Zhou Jiaxing coming back, he forced a smile on his dark face.

"Hehehe... Zhao and I... are relatives after all!" Zhou Jiaxing was too concerned about his reputation, so of course he wouldn't talk about being scolded by Zhao Yunxiang. It was just a boast.

"Yunxiang is like her brother, and Guohui is also very loyal. I remember when we were in the village..." Gutiezhu mentioned Zhao Guohui, a trace of regret flashing through his heart. If it weren't for the fact that his current "business" was so difficult, Gutiezhu would have loved to meet Zhao Guohui. A little brother in youth, a good brother for life! Unfortunately, now everyone's minds are so different that even meeting has become a luxury.

"Brother Gu, Hongxing and the others didn't return to the factory. I heard it with my own ears from that woman." The "that woman" Zhou Jiaxing was referring to was Wu Xiuping, the director of Yunyun Garment Factory. Gu Tiezhu thought it was "Zhao Yunxiang" and couldn't help but feel very disappointed.

Where on earth did these two children go? Gu Tiezhu thought of the note Gu Hongxing left for him, and his heart ached.

On the eighth day of the Lunar New Year, Gu Hongxing and Gu Xiaofang told Gu Tiezhu that they were going to the market in town. Gu Tiezhu was busy building a house at home and did not go with the two children.
