From then on, Zhao Yunxiang was essentially under Wu Jinfeng's control. She didn't dare keep a single cent of the money Zhou Zhixin sent her every month, handing it all over to Wu Jinfeng. Even so, Wu Jinfeng still didn't treat Zhao Yunxiang well.
Logically speaking, Zhou Zhixin could have applied for Zhou Yunxiang and her daughter to join the army two years ago, so that the family of four could be reunited.
But Wu Jinfeng always refused.

Wu Jinfeng has three sons and one daughter. The three sons are already married. Even if Zhao Yunxiang goes to the army, doesn't he still have two daughters-in-law at home?
But Wu Jinfeng refused to budge. As soon as Zhou Zhixin brought up the subject, she burst into tears, saying she was old and annoying. If Zhou Zhixin ignored the elderly at home and insisted on taking Zhao Yunxiang and the others to the army, Wu Jinfeng would go to the army leadership and ask them to demobilize Zhou Zhixin and return home.
Zhou Zhixin tried to get his father, Zhou Chunping, to persuade Wu Jinfeng. Zhou Chunping, with his head down, smoked a long cigarette before mentioning Wu Jinfeng's concerns.
Zhou Chunping said Wu Jinfeng felt that she was old and could not do without the service of the other wives. If Zhao Yunxiang started to slack off, what would happen if the other two wives followed suit and ignored her?
Zhou Chunping shook his head about this matter. He could do nothing to help.
In order to appease Wu Jinfeng, Zhou Zhixin had to let Zhao Yunxiang, her mother and son stay in Zhoujia Village to fulfill his filial duties to his parents on his behalf.
