Lin Shufang was waiting for them at their new home. She stayed there for a while because the house couldn't be empty without someone, otherwise it would be too lonely. The old man was still living in the compound. Lu Mo asked him to move over, but the old man refused. He couldn't bear to part with his old friends in the compound. The older he got, the less he could bear being separated from them, and the less time he could spend with them.
Every year that passes is one less year to go, and in a few more years, there will be fewer and fewer old friends. The old man is in good health, but several of his old friends are not in good health and may pass away at any time.
"Aunt Fang, we're back!"
As soon as Ye Qingqing got out of the car, she saw Lin Shufang standing at the door. She happily ran over to her, but Lu Mo lightly tapped her on the head. "You've already received the red envelope for changing your address, and you're still calling me 'Auntie'?"
"Oh dear, I just kept calling her that, Mom...hehe..."
Ye Qingqing slapped her forehead and giggled coquettishly. Lin Shufang looked at her affectionately, "Call me whatever you want, we don't have so many rules in our family. Come home and eat. I bought your favorite savory soy milk, as well as xiaolongbao and steamed dumplings. Foreign food is definitely not as good as home-cooked food. I'll cook something delicious for you tonight. For now, just have a little something."
"Mom, you're so good to me. I was just saying in the car that I wanted to eat soy milk and xiaolongbao. You don't know that foreigners eat cold food. It's all bread and salad. I feel like throwing up. What Michelin chef? They can't even cook as well as you, Mom. I miss home cooking so much when I'm away from home."
Lin Shufang was all smiles after being coaxed by Ye Qingqing. She brought out the hot breakfast, which was steaming hot and had a familiar aroma that made Ye Qingqing's mouth water. She wasn't exaggerating; she really had a great time abroad, but the food wasn't very good. She just couldn't get used to foreign food and preferred the Chinese cuisine she had grown up with.
She slurped down a big mouthful of savory soy milk, then picked up a steamed bun, dipped it in vinegar and chili sauce, and ate it in one bite. Ye Qingqing sighed contentedly, "So delicious!"
"I knew you'd be craving it. Eat more, I bought a lot, so eat slowly and don't choke," Lin Shufang said with a smile.
Ye Qingqing nodded and wolfed down her food, not forgetting to put a bun on Lu Mo's plate, saying, "Brother, you eat too."
Lu Mo laughed and said, "I'm not as picky as you. I can eat anything that can fill my stomach. Eat slowly, no one will take it from you."
He wasn't picky about food. He had even eaten raw rat meat during missions before. The "dark cuisine" that Ye Qingqing mentioned was at least edible for humans. Although the taste was a bit off, he thought it was alright. Unlike this girl, who wouldn't eat a single bite of food she didn't like.
After having breakfast, Lu Mo went straight to the company without taking a break.
Ye Qingqing drank a bowl of soy milk and ate two baskets of steamed buns. Then she felt sleepy again and yawned several times, her eyes still half-closed.
"Go to sleep, I'll clean up the dishes. Look how tired you are, you can barely keep your eyes open. Go to sleep." Lin Shufang stopped Ye Qingqing from cleaning the table.
"Oh...so sleepy..."
Ye Qingqing didn't stand on ceremony. She was as casual as her own mother in front of Lin Shufang. The tension between mother-in-law and daughter-in-law didn't exist in front of them at all. She yawned and went upstairs to sleep. As soon as she touched the bed, she fell into a deep sleep. When she woke up, it was already dark, and she could hear voices downstairs.
After taking a shower, Ye Qingqing felt much better. When she went downstairs, she saw Ye Mingcheng, Wuchen, Xiaotong, and even Xiaomei. She happily ran downstairs shouting.
"I also said I'd come over tomorrow, Dad, Xiaotong, Tiantian. I brought you gifts. I'll go upstairs to get them."
